When something with transparency covers part of an image (Mandatory process)(Such as the transparent layer in Twitter that distort the background), if I want to retain the original image look, I have to change part of the image into a more virbrant colours as before it was covered with a mandatory transparent layer.
Here is a demonstration In this case, I want to change the upper part so it looks the same colour as before, so I will need to change the upper part with more contrast or brightness, etc, so after the layer is added, it looks the same as if without the layer on. A way to do this as I mentioned, is to use curve tool or change contrast and brightness, but there is no way that I can get it to 100 accurate.

I'm having trouble getting both of my printers to print out to the same tone/colour that is displayed on my Monitor. Neither are accurate
Is there anything I can do with my monitor settings, or my photoshop/illustrator colour settings so that what I see on the screen is what will be printed out.
The printers are :
1) Hewlett Packard 1220C
2)Epson Stylus 2100
They both print out differently.
For the HP printer I've looked at the 'Image Colour Management' and it states the 'ICM is handled by host'
For the Epson printer the Colour Management is set to 'Automatic: Windows will automatically select the best colour profile from the list of associated color profiles'
I know it's possible to change the Color Setting in Photoshop but I don't really know what to set it to, and who to set it so it's as close to my monitor display as possible. (I work with RGB colour)

If I create a new image all works fine.
If I open an image that I have previously created (I'm working with .gif) and then select a colour on the pallet (it can be either FG or BG) and then try to place the colour on to the image - the colour is different to what I selected on the pallet.
I have the same issue with the 'bucket fill tool' or by selecting 'edit/fill with FG color' or by selecting 'edit/fill with BG color' or by placing a selected color text onto the image. I haven't tried using any other method.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling Gimp and I'm on Win XP PRO SP3.

I use gimp to make layered stencils for spray painting...I reduce it to a couple of colours, seperate the colours into different layers and then cut them out...
When I do im left with a ghost type image where the original layer was..
example: [URL]...
Is there any way of avoiding this?

First of all, I'm very happy the new version of Lightroom handles FujiFilm X-E1 RAW (RAF) files fast and efficiently.
But I have a feeling the colours aren't quite right. The X-E1, and its brothers, are known for their incredible colour reproduction and wide dynamic range in a compact format. When shooting native JPEG's with, or without shadow compensation settings in the camera, the resulting JPEG files has a clear FujiFilm identity. The colours and luma and are very even all the way from the shadows to the highlights. But when loading a RAW (RAF) file into Lightroom (v4.4) the colours, still untouched, aren't at all the same, and not the luma either. Shadows are harsher, the skin tones and most colours actually are a tiny bit off. Overall I would urge you to study this in detail and give us an optional Camera Calibration profile or something, that will give FujiFilm justice here.
Does this make any sense to you, or am I just being picky here?

A friend of mine has seen the colors of the highlight and black clipping warning triangles in the LR3 histogram panel change color to cyan (pink) and yellow but doesn't know what these are indicating.
I tried to replicate this in LR4 but only saw (what looks like) pink (but may be red), blue and green.what the yellow and pink triangles mean?

When I open a newly imported RAW for the first time my computer thinks for about a second and transforms the colours. On some picutres it can hardly be seen, but on others the chance is huge and I have not found a way to bring it back to more or less the colours of the neighbouring Jpegs. It also seems to be irreversible within Lightroom. I hope this is not normal, as the colours usually look much less pleasant after the transformation.
- I work with LR 4.4
- I have already disactivated the automatic Levels in the import settings
- I shoot RAW with a Pentax K-7, having set the RAW in Adobe standards

i'm working on a job with 2 colours. I already did this using CMYK and setting 2 of them to 100% and the other 2 at 0%. But people who press these posters say me that they always have to convert the CMYK file to a 2 colours file. Is there a way to set my colours to 2 colours instead of 4?

I currently use Mep 2012 although my question I believe is general in nature. As a sheet metal contractor I do drawings that have many different entities at various elevations. Many times I use change propeties to match the propeties of on entity like a linetype to change another. What I really need to do is have the ability to use a similiar button and match or change the "Z" elevation of a specific entity just like I do for linetype, color etc.

I am getting an Error message stating "There was an error calculating the effective exposure for the target photo. No photos were changed. The files are jpegs. Is this an issue? I have been successful using this Develop feature on a few files, also jpegs, but more often than not, I am getting this error message. The selected file has an exposure adjustment done in the Develop module. Does MTE only work when the originals are significantly different in their original exposure?

Why when I export s DNG to JPG do the develop settings not match between the two? Is it due to the dynamic range? If I export a DNG with no changes to JPG they essentially look the same using proRGB color space.
If I export from DNG to JPG after making changes I find the JPG is consistently over exposed compared to the DNG with the develop settings? So I have something configured incorrectly?

I made myself a Grey/Color card, having it developped at the local photo store. I know it's not the best solution, but I couldn't get my hand on ColorChecker.
Here is the default file I used for my photos:
And once I take my picture (Ok, this one is from my laptop screen, but it's only for example purpose) it loks like this
Is there an easy / quick way to have the color match? Is it possible to make an easy color profile, since the colors are pure (W,18% Gray,Bk,C,M,Y) in my default picture? Even if I try to have the white balance on, or try to modify the hue and saturation, the results in the CMY aren't matching. Since we have a color we know the value

I'm switching from Aperture to Lightroom 5. Also, I've just bought a Nikon D4 and I'll use my D80 as a second body. How do I get the cameras to match? In other words, when I shoot a scene with both cameras, the colors, etc. will match so you can't distinguish one from the other.

Editing a video in LR4 you can capture a frame, adjust the color, and save a preset to apply to other videos. BUT the frame capture is a jpg so you can't specify a color temperature; you hve to use the slider(s) and cross your fingers. I have two consecutive videos, one shot with AWB and the other set to Shade. I need to adjust the AWB shot (very cool) to match the Shade shot (very warm). There are so many sliders, I can't even get close to matching them.

I tweaked an image in Develop and printed some 5x7s until I got it right and then went to 13x19 (first time ever using that size with my R3000). The print preview and the print were way too red. I went back to a 5x7 and it was way red as well in print preview, so I didn't print. I replaced a light magenta cart that I think ran out during the 13x19 print, and then some others that were low, and did a nozzle check and that was okay. I have spent hours looking around all of the settings (sRGB) and can find nothing that would explain what changed between my last good 5x7 print and the red 13x19. I went back to earlier versions and had the same problem. Monitor is due for recalibration, but that probably has nothing to do with it since it changed so suddenly.

I am fairly new to lightroom. I pulled up 500 or so images from a wedding and went through them quickly starring them with the left and right brackets. When I was finished I went to the grid view in the library module and clicked on the filters, filter by rating, greater than or equal to one star (my images were in a collection by the way). When I hit that it says that no photos match my filter. Why?

I can't use the library filters in collections as they return no results despite there being valid search criteria. Images with one star rating are not shown when filters are set to rated in the collection. The filters do return results when searching in collection sets however.

LR4.1 64-bit Windows 7
I have relatively small (1k), and completely flat (non-hierarchical) keyword list.
for a small number of keywords, I have the following problem:
If I open Library, witht the centre panel in Grid View, then select Keyword List from the RHS panel, and select one these "problem" keywords, On the rhs of the screen it shows a number, indicating the number of images to which this keyword is attached.
I then click the arrow next to the number to display the images with this keyword.
the library filter opens in the centre panel of the screen area, dropping down the Keyword filter and correctly highlighting the selected keyword; however against this, the keyword show 0 matches and the message "No photos match the filter" is displayed.
If I right-click on the keyword in the Keyword List and select delete, the message is displayed that the keyword will be deleted from n photos
Thus I don't know if there are photos with the keyword which are just not being displayed, or whether there are a number of "phantom" keywords which are not associated with any images.
It may be that I am lacking understanding of some aspect of LR functionality; or that somehow there is an indexing problem within my LR catalogue.

I've been working with LR for a while now and using 3.6
I'm shotting RAW+Jpeg and when importing i use jpeg and raw as separate files.
Now i understand that colors are very different, but,
I'm trying to match the CR2 from my Canon 5D Mark 2 to the jpeg with no luck!
I have tried using the "profile" menu in the "camera calibration section but again no luck.
I have also tried manipulating every single slider combination (allmost) and again, no good result.
is there a good fast and useful way of achieving a match between the raw and the jpeg?!

I was hoping to define a tree of (smart) collections to match my folders tree, but coming up with a search criteria to match the folder path is proving difficult at best, impossible at worst.
Ultimately this smart collection criteria is bound for a plugin, but it's the same problem regardless of how ya do it...

I am having problems getting my final prints to match the screen view. Most recently I have had this problem: I have an image that is sized to 5X7. I have it on a 5X7 template in the print module of Lightroom. The image dimensions in Lightroom say 5X7. I print on 5X7 paper (I actually measured it to be sure). ON the screen they look perfect, match the the templates and measure out fime with the onscreen rulers. Without fail a portion of the print is cut off on the final print. The long side of the print is the most effected. This is not just limited to 5X7's, it happens across the board. Is this a common problem or I am I doing something wrong? In the 5X7 example above the print comes out 5.2 X 7.3 give or take. I am using Lightroom 5.3 on an iMac running OS 10.9.1. The printer is a Canon Pro 100.
