Lightroom :: How To Export JPEGs With Exif Info

Dec 25, 2012

Is there a way to export jpegs with some exif info (creation date and tile) which should be saved directly on the image. Like the showing of the timestamp on the picture  which can be turned on on some cameras.

Reasoin is: I want to use those pics on a digital image frame and I want to show some image data as well. As there are no options in the software of the digiframe to display exifs I have to integrate them in the pictures...

if it is not possible with lightroom then probably you can tell me another way (bridge, photoshop, ...) - just not manually...

Lightroom :: Export To JPG - Exif Meta Data Contain A Exif Tag

Since today I'm using "Lightroom 5.3 RC for Windows". When I export to jpg the Exif meta data contain a Exif tag "Software", the value is "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.0 (Windows)". Why doesn't this tag show the version number "5.3" (or "5.3 RC")?This behaviour has been at all prior Lightroom versions I know.

Lightroom :: Displaying Exif Info At Import Screen

Nov 5, 2012

Is there a way to view exif info of each photo on the LR 4.2 import screen. I'd like to view Exif data before making the decision to import the capture but can't figure out how to do this. Ideally it would appear as a 'tooltip' when hovering over the image in gridview, or, when looking at a single image it using the "I" key should display image info like it does in other modules of LR4. Are there any plugins that could do that?

Lightroom :: Histogram Fails To Show Exif Info

May 5, 2012

I shoot in raw, I import into lightroom by doing a sync folder. Then I edit my picture using photoshop cs6. I save it as a jpeg. Finally I export this image as a jpeg to a sub folder called Publish, which means its ready for the web. problem is when i look at image in lightroom on the right side the histogram has no details, it wont show iso, fstop or anything. if I look at my original RAW file i can see the exif info in the histogram but on my final exported image its all gone.

furthmore it looses all its tags and meta data, I have to copy the metadata back to this file. it would be nice if lightroom would reinsert the meta info and exif once its reimported into lightroom.

Lightroom :: 4.2 JPG Export Does Not Include GPS Data In EXIF

Oct 6, 2012

I shoot pictures in RAW (Pentax PEF format) which includes gps data. As the pictures are being imported the Lightroom prompts for reverse geo mapping and detects the data and locates it on the map from map module. However, when exported in JPG, the GPS is missing in the Exif. It was working in 4.1. Again, it did not work sometimes in 4.1.

Lightroom :: How To Export Raw Photos As JPEGs

Jan 2, 2012

I am having trouble when I use Lightroom 3 and I try to export my raw photos as jpegs. I require the Jpegs so I may send them on the web to either friends, or, to a company like istock. When I view the jpegs, they are often too red in color (this is seen in landscapes but is especially noticed in peoples skin tone...which often makes them look sunburnt or unrealistic) and they do not match my raw photos (often these are processed in CS5 and I view all photos on my Hp LP2475w monitor). Note that both LR and CS5 have been updated to the most current versions. I also calibrate my monitor with a Spyder 3. Naturally, I have tried to individually correct this color shift for each photo, but it can be a most laborious chore and it never looks quite right.

Lightroom :: How To Automatically Export Edited JPEGs

Feb 18, 2014

I am a new Lightroom user .I have a folder of full of .JPG in ~/Pictures/2011/2011-07-21_Fjord that I imported inside Lightroom 5 using the "Add" option (not "Copy" nor "Move").

I modified a few pictures (mainly removing visual artefacts and fixing the level) and found out that ~/Pictures/2013/2013-07-21_Fjord still contains the originals.

After reading a bit about LR, I understand that is is the expected behavior. But let's say I know what I am doing and I no longer care about the originals, what is the best worlflow to overwrite the originals why the modified JPGs?

Lightroom :: How To Export Images With Borders And Metadata Caption (IPTC / Exif)

Is there a way to export images with borders (like the slideshow layout) and metadata caption (iptc/exif). I'm using a plug-in Mogrify now, but this way I have to export every photo twice (first to create borders, then to add the metadata). photo below is exported with the Mogrify plug-in.

It would be awsome to export photos like the gallery layout since most lightboxes have only 1 line of caption and no design/edit options. This would save heaps of time.

Photoshop :: CS4 Wrong Exif Orientation In File Info

May 1, 2012

I've been playing around with Exif orientation data, and CS4 always shows the orientation as "Normal" in File -> File Info. However, looking at the same EXIF information with other programs (e.g. Picasa), I see the appropriate rotation information, which is consistent with how I took the photos. Is this a bug in Photoshop CS4? I took the photos with an iPhone 4, by the way.

Photoshop :: JPEG Photos Losing Lens Info From EXIF

Nov 3, 2012

I noticed some of my final jpeg photos were losing the lens info and others weren't. So I tried a couple things and revised all my workflow only to find out the following:

I use Capture NX2 to save TIFF images out of the RAW and then I open them on PS (CS6).

The original RAWs all have the <aux:Lens> tag in them. I checked with Photoshop and Bridge that they are there.

If I open the file with Capture and save it to two different files:

One TIFF and a second one Jpeg, both of them will continue to show the tag <aux:Lens> with the Lens type (again, checked with Bridge and PS).

But here comes the tricky part: if I open these files with photoshop and SAVE AS jpeg (in the same way), the one that originated from a TIFF will strip the "<aux:Lens>" tag on the final picture, while the one that originated from a jpeg will not.

There seems to be a problem on how Photoshop interprets the Exif info while saving from an original TIFF file.

Photoshop :: Export JPEGs From Command Line?

May 1, 2013

I'm looking for a light-weight command line utiliy (Windows) that converts uncompressed images to jpeg's. I've tried out a bunch of promising tools such as ImageMagick and RIOT, but I haven't found one that is close to produce images as good as Photoshop at different compression levels. They all produce a high level of compression artefacts, pixelation etc. I suppose I could use Photoshop scripting, but it's hardly light-weight. So I guess my question is, does Adobe provide a more light-weight tool that has commandline support and does a good a job at producing jpegs?

Lightroom :: How GPS Coordinates Are Written To EXIF In LR4

Jul 17, 2012

How GPS coordinates are written to EXIF in LR4.

Here's the bottom line: I understand how to insert coordinates into a photo's EXIF. I can clearly see the coordinates when viewing EXIF within LR4, but that's where the trail ends.

I am trying to view the GPS EXIF data in multiple other programs and I just don't see it anywhere. I also participate in an web sharing site that automatically maps photos upon upload, assuming the coordinates are in the EXIF. This isn't working for me either. As a test I uploaded a file that had coordinates written to EXIF (according to LR4), and then downloaded that image back to my PC, and re-imported it to LR4 ... I can see all EXIF except no GPS coordinates.

For all practical purposes, it appears LR4 is not really writing the coordinates to EXIF except for what is displayed inside the shell of Lightroom.

Lightroom :: How To Add Camera Mfg Data To EXIF

Aug 16, 2013

I have a Panasonic GH3 camera.  I would like to add an item that is in the EXIF data of the RAW and DNG file to the EXIF fields kept by LR5. I can see all the camera EXIF data by using the GREAT 'exiftool.exe' created by Phil Harvey.

[URL] ......

Just to start, I would like to add the item "Focus Mode" that is in the "Panasonic" section of the EXIF file of the RAW and DNG files.  The Focus Mode field has values such as:

Example 1:

---- Panasonic ----
Image Quality                   : Raw
Firmware Version                : 0.1.2.0
White Balance                   : Auto
Focus Mode                      : Manual
AF Area Mode                    : 1-area
Image Stabilization             : Off
Macro Mode                      : Off
Shooting Mode                   : Aperture Priority

or, as anoher example:

Example 2:

---- Panasonic ----
Image Quality                   : Raw
Firmware Version                : 0.1.2.0
White Balance                   : Auto
Focus Mode                      : AF-S
AF Area Mode                    : 1-area
Image Stabilization             : Off
Macro Mode                      : Off
Shooting Mode                   : Aperture Priority

I find this data in both the Panasonic Raw files, and the DNG files created by LR5 (and I was very relieved to find that the Focus Mode is carried forward to the DNG files, since I don't keep my old Panasonic RW2 Raw files after they are converted to DNG!).

So, since this camera manufacturer data *is* in the DNG, LR5 *is* reading it.

Thus my question:  How can I tell LR5 to inclued the "FOCUS MODE" value in the EXIF data it creates with each photo?

Lightroom :: Exif And GPS - Data In XMP - File Overwritten Sometimes?

Feb 2, 2013

I have a problem where LR4 on import seems to rewrite the xmp-files, and in that process data is lost, notably GPS-data, is lost.

My workflow:

Create xmp-file with Exiftool from CR2-files (sets copyright etc)
Geocode with Geosetter
Color labels with Photo Mechanic
Import to LR4

After import geo data is gone for around 30% of the files. It seems like files that have received a color label by PM is not affected, and many files without color label are correctly imported.I never loose any data before importing to LR4.

I use a Canon 7D, Exiftool and Geosetter are updated to latest versions, LR version is 4.3. I couldn't find how to attach files, but how the xmp looks before and after LR4 import, I could copy-paste the code in an answer.

Lightroom :: EXIF Camera Metadata In Filmstrip

Jan 16, 2013

I'm working on macro insect photography, and I used to find it really useful to be able to hover my cursor over an image in the filmstrip and see the aperture, shutter speed and ISO pop up. It was great to be able to see at a glance what sort of settings were producing better photos. Now, however, when I hover the cursor over an image, it's the date and time of capture and the size of the image that pop up (and the file name as before). I've combed through Preferences to see if it's a Lightroom setting I can change, but I can't see anything relevant. I've googled away and searched these forums, also to no avail. I know I can go to the Metadata panel in the Library module to see those photo attributes, but that's more cumbersome than what I used to be able to do. Is there any way to revert to the seeing the aperture etc at a glance the way I was previously able to? (I'm using Lightroom 3, pondering upgrading to 4).
