View 1 RepliesJust installed LR 4.2,
I get the following error message
An error occurred when attempting to change modules.
What does this mean or is it a bug?
When I'm trying to run Lightroom 4 on Mac, it gives this message: "there was an error when trying to change modules". I had the same problem with Lightroom 3. I changed my system and now I'm running OS X Mountain Lion.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI get this message even after 3 attempts to unistall and re-install lr5. I even deleted the downloads and re-downloaded it twice to make sure. It will not let me import or do anything.I an trying to do the free trial so I can decide between this or Aperture. If I cannot run the trial, I wonder if I will be able to run the full version! I will be using this in conjunction with nik soft or topaz, and need to know if everything will play nice together.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen switching from the Library to Develop module, there's a several second delay. However, when going to the Book module, LR4.1 will beach ball for a good 15-20 seconds. Other modules (Slideshow, Print, Web) are better, but....
My spec's: 2010 15" MacBook Pro, 2.4Ghz i5, 8gigs of RAM, 500gig 7200rpm HD, nVidia 330 with 256mb of video RAM.
It seems that in Lightroom 4 you have the ability to turn off individual modules by right clicking on them and unchecking whichever ones you don't use. I'm wondering if when modules are unchecked, does that increase the speed or performance of the system?
I recently upgraded to LR4 from 3 and definitely experienced a major slow down. That being said, when I uncheck everything except the development module, the sluggishness completely disappears. Is turning individual modules off actually improve performance?
Each time I want to edit an image from LR in PS (edit in PS as hdr, edit in photoshop as panorama,...) I´m asked to update the ACR module from PS CS5 to ACR 7.3 which is not possible. Is there a possibility that this incompatibility will be abandoned in future updates of PS and/or LR?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSomething that irritates me with LR(2,3,4) is that the FOLDER panel is not available across all modules. hence you have to create a collection or preselect your pictures first in Library .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got Lightroom 5.3 for my Macbook Pro and have been attempting to use it for the past several days, but regardless of what I try nothing works -- I have spent several hours on the Adobe troubleshooting website going through every procedure several times and no luck. I've run disk recovery and tried everything including changing my Lightroom preferences to "read & write".

View 2 Replies View RelatedModules take forever to load when LR4 is first started. I've asked this question before, and Adobe's response was something I'd expect from MicroSlop ("it's a feature, not a bug) - specifically, it takes upwards of 25 seconds for the Book module to load (system specs below). Adobe's response was that the individual modules don't load until you click on them. Blurb book quality - I've had a couple of friends, and numerous posts on the Blurb forums, complaining about the quality of their books. I did several with Aperture and had no issues. Adobe seems to be....no...they ARE extremely slow about issuing updates (3 months to get 4.1 out) and are dead silent in their blogs about

After I have re-imported a corrupted xml file with print templates, LR starts with error "An error occured while trying to switch between modules" (or so, translated from german). This happens after selecting a catalog - however, regardless of the catalog choosen (even after creating a new one).Funny enough, for other users on the same system, the problem does not occur.
-> What can I do to get rid of the problem?
-> Do I have to reinstall / change or delete files?
I use a wide gammut monitor. The colors in the LR5 presentation module are different to the other modules. It seems, that the color-management inside lightroom don't work correctly. In all other modules and photoshop the colors are correct. In the earlier versions of LR the colors are correct.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a set of images from a recent vacation and created a web gallery to display them. I am using a Retina MacBook Pro and I noticed that when loaded in the browser (Safari), the gallery images look slightly blurry - similar to "non-retina" prepared images. I also created a slideshow in the slideshow module and they look the same.
if this is due to the fact that Lightroom is not rendering the preview images to be compatible with retina (HiDPI) support? I have invested in such an expensive piece of hardware and I'm getting such blurry looking images.
I cannot create a Library in Lightroom due to the following error. "an error occurred when attempting to change modules". I am getting no where with customer service.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen our photographer browses his folders with pictures and double clicks upon one of them (jpg-files always), his Photoshop (he uses CS3 and Windows NT) always opens up the file only shoving it as 16,3% size (or such, I can't remember the exact number)
As a result the picture hardly fills 1/4 or 1/8 of the available space in the Photoshop screen, and he always has to click the picture larger before being able to work in it.
He has recently got a new - and more powerful - computer, and he did not have the same problem when using the old computer, here his files always opened to the maximum possible size.
filmstrip appears on bottom but the compare option, before and after and slide to enlarge grid view are all missing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed in the past couple of days that I will be refining an image in the develop module, feel I've gotten it the way I want it to look, and then switch back to the library module to export. When I do so, I notice the colors are quite different than they were just a second ago in the develop module. When I switch back to the develop module, it goes back to the way it looked in the develop module. How might I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Lightroom 4.1. When I start the import, lightroom crashes with an "Application Error" all the time. I tried to trash the preference file, but there was no change. I tried to make a clear catalog, but no change to my problem. At least, I deinstalled Lightroom completely and installed it again. But the same problem. The problem was not from the beginning. I could import several pictures. 20k pictures are imported.

Since I upgraded to Lightroom 4 last week, I've had two occasions where Windows 7 operating system at boot tells me I have corrupt files on the separate 2TB drive I use to store Lightroom catalog and photos on. One difference between my LR3 vs LR4 settings was that I turned on the option to write XMP data to files per advice from Adobe evangelist that this is a better backup strategy in case LR catalog gets corrupt. Wondering whether the LR 4 background process to write out XMP is causing the problem.
It might be a self inflicted wound, as last night, I was importing iPad screenshot PNG files into Bridge, batch renaming them and then exporting them to hard drive as JPG (when is Lightroom going to support PNG?) and synchronizing that folder in LR4 so that I can view in LR4. Maybe the fact that I have LR4 and Bridge open at the same time and doing some operations corrupted them? LR4 got stuck at 1% progress in creating previews, so left the computer on overnight and when I come back in morning, black screen of death. When reboot, says I have to check that drive and finds lots of corrupt record segments. Never had this problem with LR3 and Bridge open at same time before LR4 and turning on the option to write XMP data to files.
When choosing an Import-preset with "Make a Second Copy To" selected and the external drive is not connected (e.g. working on location, ejected ext. drive temporarily), LR starts the copy process to primary location first. Only after copying LR notices that second copy location is offline, displays a warning dialog and won't start preview rendering until warning dialog is dismissed. But user might have left his computer to grab a coffee since rendering eats up CPU power.
Result, Problem:
1. Processing time is lost if user comes back to computer after intentionally taking a break only to discover that computer will be slowed down under processing load again.
2. Files have to be backed up manually. If "eject card after import is selected", user even has to re-insert card again.
Solution A: When Import with backup to external drive is selected, check and warn immediately if drive is not connected.
a) Import button is greyed out with a little red ! or some sort of indicator. User is asked to connect drive or skip backup this time
or
b) Warning dialog is displayed immediately after clicking Import button. Options as in a) are given. Disadvantage: user might miss warning, if sound turned off and turns away from computer immediately after clicking.
Solution B: Allow drive re-connect and copying later
1. Copy to primary location
2. Copy to second location, skip if drive not connected
3. Render previews
4. Display message "The following files could not be copied..." with added new feature "Please connect drive, then selct "copy now" button.I am using Lightroom 3.6 on Mac OS 10.7.2
how the whole connection between everybody with Smart Objects is supposed to work... Is this a Photoshop thing, a Bridge thing, or a Lightroom thing?I have a RAW image in Lightrom... I make adjustments. I open it in Photoshop as a Smart Object. Add layers, fiddle, do normal Photoshop stuff. Then I realize I goofed on the original RAW in Lightroom and had sharpened it BEFORE I went into Photoshop.
So, I open the RAW back up from Photoshop, which of course, opens in Bridge, NOT Lightroom, and fix the sharpening. Then back to Photoshop where I finish fiddling and save the .psd file.EXCEPT, as near as I can tell, I now have a RAW file in Lightroom that doesn't know changes have been made.
And, since I haven't written the metadata to the RAW file on disk, I have a file in Lightroom that doesn't match what's on disk, a .psd file that doesn't match the RAW file that's in Lightroom, and changes made in Bridge that don't seem to be anywhere...
How do I make sure the RAW file in Lightroom stays up-to-date with what's being used as the starting image in Photoshop? And how do I get Lightroom updated with whatever changes got made in Bridge?
