Lightroom :: Placing Photos In A Story Telling Sequence
Jul 30, 2013I need to know how to place my photos in a story telling sequence in Lightroom instead of the order the photos were taken.

View 1 RepliesI have collected a number of archival photos that are scanned from various sources. Obviously- when they are scanned the date of origination is the date they were scanned not the actual date the photo was taken. I can remedy this in the 'edit capture time' feature. But there are thousand of photos and this is time consuming and often a guess. So, sometimes being lazy I forget. However, Lightroom allows me to arrange photos in a specific order. So for the sake of this discussion I can arrange histroical images in what I believe is the best the chronological order. Now I want to export these files without scrambing the order in which they are arranged. Not all the dates may be accurate so I don't want to rely on that feature. I want to export the photos in the sequence in which they are arranged. It might be as simple as adding a prefix 1-filename, 2-filename, etc. I've attempted exporting several times in the past but invariably it arranges everything by an alphanumeric sort.

My question is, do I need to "File > Export" the files from Lightroom before placing them into InDesign? Or are the Lightroom final changes I make embedded in the .tif file?

is there some way of arranging for the photos to be arranged in"date taken sequence" before downloading to Dvd's????
I am using lightroom 3.6 on a Mac
I have two slrs which I take with me to events, and I'm going through one of my workflow but noticed that the story I'm telling from the even is not in chronologicial order. I think this is because the number sequence on the camera is set to numerical is set so Lightroom has not exported the photo in my desire sequence.
When I want to export the photos into JPEG, is there a way to choose which photos goes in which sequence?
I have a file on my computer that contains photos from two cameras that took photos over the same three week timespan. I have sorted them by date and time. When I import the file the photos from one camera show first followed by the photos from the other camera. How can I import or resort in LR3 to have photos in date/time sequence?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop CS2 and have ordered InDesign CS3 after looking at a trial download. If I am shooting in camera raw and I want to transfer a part of an image onto a page without the background from the image, what is the best method for preparing the image... I don't necessarily need step by step instructions just to be pointed in the direction of the best method. For example we are working on a book about firearms in a museum collection and want to place some of the photos without backgrounds and some with backgrounds.

View 2 Replies View RelatedGiven a file folder of photos. How can these photos be resequenced and renumbered so that they are in the resequenced (and renumbered) order in the file folder? This was easy in Elements 3. Drag the photos in the File Browser to the desired sequence and then use the Batch Rename function under Automate to Rename / Renumber the photos.I cannot accomplish this in Elements 10.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I download my photos & I have them in a file folder in the organizer, how do I sequence & sort the photos by the filename & not the date/time? I try renaming some of them so that the file name is in an alphanumeric order between some other photos & hope that it moves them in the organizer, but it doesn't. No matter what I do, the photos remain in the date-time sequence. I was able to move the files very easily in Ver 8, but it doesn't work the same in Ver 11.

I want to use one picture per page, but I want this effect for the background of the one picture.
Essentially, I want to imitate the design that the link uses with the effect covering different colors on different pages.
I also want a darkened area with the same dark color used in the outline of the pictures as a block for my text to be put on to.
I want to sort the photos in an album into date sequence, that is to say, oldest first. I want to keep the photos in the organiser in newest first sequence (I don't want that photo from zillions of years ago top of the list every time I open the organiser).
I can see "Sort by" at the top but that seems to apply to the selection of photos I have showing on the screen and does not appear to be an attribute that can be attached to an album. So if I select "Oldest" as the sort order, that works nicely for the album but then I go back to the organiser and it's in oldest first order. Not what I want. So I select "Newest", then go back to the album and the "oldest" sequence has been lost.
It was really easy in PSE8. It appears that what I am trying to do is impossible and Adobe have dropped the ability to associate a sequence with an album.
Incidentally, what does "Album order" mean? That implies that it is possible to set an album order somewhere.
I've successfully merged a sequence of photos taken along the shoreline of Yellowstone Lake using the Photoshop Elements 11 Photomerge Panorama facility. Alignment is perfect but the sky has gone wrong at one or two boundaries.
The sky is there in both the adjoining photos and I'm sure I could do a better job than Elements if I could adjust the mask boundaries and get rid of the existing smudged area, but I can't find out how to do that.
Can you extract the data from tracking/story editor outside of InDesign? I do a large catalogue and want a way to identify which product sets had changes made to them or not, but not just within story editor, but download the data to say a txt file or excel, etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just discovered an issue with the LR5.3 Export module on my Windows 7 system when exporting JPEG image files with 'Sequence' File renaming and 'Original' File Settings to a subfolder. When exporting approximately 100 JPEG image files LR shows a file count in the subfolder of ~1/2 the actual file count and the ability to 'Synchronize Folder' disappears. The correct number of files appear in the subfolder using Windows Explorer, so they all were successfully exported and renamed properly. LR must be closed and reopened to restore the ability to 'Synchronize Folders' and/or 'Import' images using the Import module. I've never encountered this problem before since I normally process raw image files, which do not exhibit this issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do you control the image export sequence when exporting to DVD via LR4?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIt seems that this should be possible, but I'm not seeing any way to do this. When I go into CS6 from LR4, I'd like to be able to rename the file I'm working on (say 20120422-145) to 20120422-Edit-145 but at best I can rename it 20120412-145-Edit-145
Adding the edit tag prior to the sequence id keep things better organized in the browser and enabled rename on export to properly extract the sequence ID.
Exporting jpgs is fine to watch them on TV or wherever. The problem is the incorrect order in the resulting filenames. They go likepic-1
pic-10
pic-11
pic-2
pic-3
...
MUCH BETTER would be:
pic-001
pic-002
...
pic-010
pic-011
just like Photoshop Elements does it.
I'm unable to drag a group of photos or even single photos to a publish folder. In this case it's SmugMug. What is the correct method?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI copied photo folders from my hard drive to lightroom 4 and edited them but then accidentally removed these folders from lightroom. I then imported these folders again into lightroom but all the edits I made orginally in lightroom don't show up for the individual photo's.
I backed up the Lightroom catalogue regularily. Is there any way I can reattach these edits to their respective photos'. There is lot of photo's involved.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAll kinds of stuff: web icons, buttons, etc..., adds. Should I add them all or are there types or categories of photos that would be fine to keep outside LR? If so, what kinds of photos would you add or not add? (I guess this question could apply to my past photos as well as future shots but perhaps, the answer would change slightly.)
how to add/import but nothing on what to add/import.
How do I put two (2) different photos together in one.
