Lightroom :: Locked Cat In 4.4
May 31, 2013Cant find an irdata.lock file to erase inorder to unlock it. Its not in my catalog backup file and I have search my entire hard disk with no luck.

Mar 27, 2014i am locked out of my catalog. last time, deleting the .lock file worked. this time, when i delete it, it doesn't work and the lock file reappears. what gives? have tried several times, the .lock files are in my recycle bin.

Nov 20, 2012I'm used to shoot tethered with my Canon 5D MarkII in Lightroom 4.2 under Windows 7. Recently I installed Windows 8, but now Lightroom can't detect my Canon 5D Mark II anymore. The problem is that Lightroom uses an older Framenetwork version (3.5) and in Windows 8 version (4.5) is build in. It's possible to download and install that older version (3.5) in Windows 8, but lightroom can still not detect my camera.

Apr 29, 2013It seems that with the 4.4 update a bug was introduced with the crop aspect ratio not staying locked when cropping.  It changes to "custom" even though the lock remains. What do I do to maintain a standard photo size and not switch to custom? For printing purposes, I need the ratio to stay locked and dimensions standard.

Feb 22, 2009I am using photoshop V7. what file I load the "Background Layer" is locked. When I try Help it says select "Layers Window" and click "Layers Locked"... The problem is, only selections not grayed out are; New, Duplicate, Fill, or Adjustment... all other items are GRAYED OUT.. I checked preferences, but find no reference to the subject.

Jul 11, 2012I am creating an image in Photoshop CS6. I've saved it a few times but now it's telling me the file is locked. I resaved it as something else and now the original file has vanished!

I looked at the properties of the file before it vanished and clicked the security tab and it told me I didn't have permission to view it and I had to be an administrative user, which I am. It gave the option of giving myself permission and said the previous owner may no longer have permission but there was no previous owner listed (obviously because there never was one).

These files are very important, I can't risk them just vanishing or locking me out. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

Sep 5, 2012I am syncing pictures , effects and video snippets to a song. Why is that when I ever I add a new set of pictures or effect, it moves my music as to make space for it despite using a different layer. Is there a way to lock the music in place as I add more photos and media?

Jan 20, 2009I just activated my trial edition with a serial number. Now, when I open an image the cursor becomes a stop sign (circle with slash line through it).
Not sure that activation caused this, but I cannot edit my images.

Aug 24, 2008My problem is that i had to re-instate windows xp plus all my software and since doing this some of my files on my external HD will not open i try and i get the error message "could not complete the request because the file is locked. use the properties command in windows explorer to unlock the file" i dont know how to get the files viewable again photoshop opens ok it just doesnt open the pictures ....

Photoshop :: 7.0 Locked Error
Jan 12, 2008I try to open my Photoshop 7.0 I get two error messages. I don't understand why I am getting these messages, or how to fix them. The error messages appear at startup during the initializing of the Photoshop 7.0, these messages state:
Error Message 1: Can not find workspace folder.
Error Message 2: Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the Properties command in Windows Explorer to unlock the file.
There is no Properties command under Windows Explorer, there is one under Photoshop 7.0, but nowhere does it say "unlock file". I have seen a similar problem for the CS2 in the FAQ section, so I tried to use that fix, but it did not work. I have uninstalled & reinstalled, cleared cache, de-fragged, and unhidden the files ...

If i wanted it on both windows and mac i'm guessing that would mean buying it again fully as another license? Or could it be used as the "secondary install" of the application? May 25, 2008got my new computer---AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ CPU, 4 GB RAM, two 1 TB SATA hard disks (logical drives C:, D:, and E: on first physical hard disk; drives F: and G: and the second). Operating system is Windows XP SP2.
When I installed Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, I did not enter the serial number immediately in order to enjoy the CS3 Extended trial period (my serial number is for CS3 Standard). Eventually the trial period expired, and I entered my serial number. No problems until here.
Today I deactivated the Photoshop copy on the old machine and activated it on the new one, and that's when the problem started. Now Photoshop won't work anymore. It worked fine prior to activation.

work ... but only when drive C: is selected as the primary scratch disk which under Windows obviously is a bad choice. But Photoshop won't let me choose anything different. Whenever I try to deselect C: from the list of active scratch disks (remove the tick mark) or to change the order of active scratch disks so that C: is not the topmost anymore then Photoshop will refuse to re-launch.
Instead, upon re-launch it will display a message box (with 'Adobe Photoshop CS3' as the title bar and an OK button as the only option) saying, 'Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the "Properties" command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.' Of course, it doesn't bother to say what file it is talking about, or what 'locked' is supposed to mean. Explorer's 'Property' command does not provide any means to 'lock' or to 'unlock' a file. To get out of this situation, I have to delete Photoshop's preferences file which leaves me where I started, i. e. with drive C: as the primary scratch disk. I can always add more drives to the list of active scratch disks. But I must not remove C: from the top of that list or Photoshop won't work anymore.
But I want Photoshop to use G: as the scratch disk. It worked fine that way until I carried out the $#!%@ activation procedure!

Sep 26, 2012Okay, so there are two parts to my question:
1. Any way to pan within a locked viewport? Everything I've tried has led me to believe that this is not possible.
2. Is it possible to limit a viewport's scale to one specific value? In my case I need all of my viewports, on multiple sheets, to show my model space in 1:100. That said I don't want to be able to zoom in this viewport, just a straight up "pan-only" space--hence my first question.
Edit#1: So to further explain my situation, this particular drawing set that I'm putting together is only used to focus and display what is in my modelspace --nothing more. It seems as though I'll need to continue unlocking, panning, zooming, scaling, and re-locking my work for now.
In the end the final goal was to send this drawing template to a client to allow them to adjust what areas of the drawing the wanted to display without them needing to play with the scale.
Illustrator :: All Tools Locked In CS6
Mar 24, 2014Every tool with the triangle on the bottom right corner doesn't allow me to see the other tools that are available in that selection area. I can hold down the alt key and click on the icon (tool) and it switches but it doesn't have the drop down menu when I right click on it. I'm sure this is something simple and I've searched the web for a similar issue but nothing related is coming up.

Oct 22, 2013What is/are the benefits of having every background layer of a newly opened document locked? I have never come across a need for it and wish it wasn't. It only means I have to create a new layer and import an image to that. Or, double click the layer to unlock it. Is there a way to permanently eliminate that "preference?" It's like entering a room with your shoes tied together.
