Why does Lightroom not "see" the photos from my catalog since the latest update? Ever since the latest update it says file not found but I can open and work on the photos in other programs. How do I get the prgoram to "see" my photos again?

I get an error message after downloading and trying to install that lightroom cannot locate the lightroom-64.msi file due to the network.

I want to make a copy of a Lightroom 3 catalog to put on my laptop so while on the move I can be geo-tagging and keywording to 8000 photographs. I don't want to drag an external drive with me. I just want to be able to work on the catalog metadata and have all the updates/changes stored there (on the laptop)(in the catalog) and then transfer the catalog back to the desktop (to the primary archive) and have all the updates/changes pushed back into the DNG's or the XMP sidecar files alongside the CR2's. These changes would be only keywording and possibly writing GPS data into them….NOT image edits (that would probally require access to the original image files)
As a test, I tried "exporting as catalog", TWO images (with the source images "unavailable"). I flash-drived the resulting catalog to my laptop. I opened the catalog in LR3 and made changes to the metadata. I tried both "saving metadata to file" and "updating DNG previews" (which would be useless anyway since I could not write data back to the missing originals) and also tried doing nothing and just closing LR, then pulling the flashdrive and plugging it into the DESKTOP.(knowing the changes are stored within the catalog itself only) I open the 2 picture catalog in LR and see the keyword updates. Hurrah!
I switch over to the master catalog. All I want to do is import the updated metadata (keywording, contrast, etc…) back into the master catalog and push the data into the original DNG or XMP. On import I select "replace: Metadata and develop settings only" (with or without "preserve old settings" checked) and click import. Voila! NOTHING HAPPENS and the updated keywords are NOT picked up.
I know that the metadata updates were carried out because they showed up when I opened it separately in LR! For some reason they don't seem to making through the import process to the master catalog…
I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and Lightroom 4 to use together.However, I used both together in trial versions and did not have this problem.
When I start in Lightroom with an image, then take it to Photoshop to do some work with liquify, save it, return to Lightroom... Lightroom is not acknowledging the new changes made in Photoshop. When I ran the trial versions, they did. How do I get that feature to work again, is there a setting I'm missing?
I had an alert to update Photoshop but after three attempts it reaches 56% then fails. It is accompanied by a message to contact customer care and gives the number: U44MIP34. I have retried after a restart but with same result. Then I tried again after running AVG registry cleaner equally without success. Could it be a time difference between US and UK?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI applied the lateset automatic update to Photoshop CS6 (the one that adds Retina display support) and it's corrupted the Photoshop icon (Mac OS X).
Here's a composite screenshot showing the icon in the Dock, the small icon in the Finder's Column View, and the large icon in the Finder doesn't display at all, and is replaced with a generic icon. They all exhibit a different type of visual corruption.
Since the latest update earlier this week, I've experienced major issues with the character palette - particularly the point size and tracking. The tracking issue is by far the greater of these two evils and the following explains the issues I've observed:
tracking - the number you type isn't the number used to set the tracking. The slider and up/down arrows do not remedy this problem, though they make it slightly more predictable. The number that appears seems random, though I've noticed a pattern in some instances (typing 20 sets tracking 18, typing 40 sets it 36, typing 60 sets it 54, and so on). This issue also appears to be connected to free transforming a text layer, so the pattern is possibly based on the percentage of scaling.
font size - the number you type works if size is increased in small increments to a certain point. Then it max's out, and this error appears repeatedly (after ok is clicked the error pops back up)
I've searched the web for resolutions to the issue and haven't found anything. This is what I've tried and none of it worked to any lasting degree:
- set units to pixels in preferences and restart photoshop
- set units back to points in preferences and restart photoshop
- restart photoshop and pc (several times)
- shut down photoshop and pc (several times)
- unplug pc and discharge static
I am not able to update photoshop CS6 to the latest version. I have this problem on two computers. I get an error message which refers me to a file in the ../common filesadobeinstaller directory, but the file is not readable (gz). I have repeatedly tried to install the update. I have de-installed the program and re-installed it, but am still unable to apply the update.

This is happening in the time-line with camcorder and other source videos, and worse, when produced as output videos from VS is then in those permanently. The source videos are fine because I checked in Media Player. VS produced videos played in Media Player show the skipping - ugh. Prior to the upgrade everything was perfect. how do i downgrade?

After latest update several days ago it stopped working, displaying an error message instead:
"The 3D features require that 'Use Graphics Processor' is enabled in the Performance preferences. Your video card must meet the minimum requirements and you may need to check that your driver is working correctly"
The Graphic Processor is enabled, and the driver is working fine.
Is this a bug or a "feature" in new version? How to make it work as before the update?
Whenever I edit text in the pop-up dialog, there is usually an extra line inserted at the top of the text (a blank first line). I can't get rid of this extra line through the pop-up edit window, I can only delete it using the text tool directly on the page. This only started with the latest update.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had some trouble with my hard drive and needed to restore about 35000 photos. Sorting through them I imported all the recovered files into a new "Recovered" catalog. That works fine.
When I tried to import this catalog into my previous catalog it imports the photos fine but doesn't render any previews. Not in small batches, nothing. The progress bar just stays put at 1 of .... If I take the photo to the Develop module it will load and render a preview after a few seconds. But this can only be done one at a time and is very laggy.
I've had similar issue with this catalog before: no previews rendered on import. Except now it's a giant batch and it can't be processed manually.I'm on Lightroom 4.0

View 6 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Windows 7 and copied over my LR4 presets and galleries over to the new install. I decided to try ""Store presets with catalog" to keep things simpler next time since I do periodic backups of the catalog folder anyway, so in the future all presets are backed up at the same time as the catalog. I put the presets including a couple web gallery presets in the proper folders. LR4 recognized all presets except for the web gallery presets--when I went to the Web module it didn't list them as options. I then copied those web gallery presets to the default LR4 settings folder (C:UserXYZAppDataEtc-so-on-so-forth) at which point it recognized the presets and listed them in the Web module.
So it seems that LR4 doesn't respect the "Store presets with catalog" setting when looking for web gallery presets.
I noticed a problem with LR5.2. When creating a catalog for travel with dynamic image rendering, if you want to add some pictures in this catalog it doesn't recognize the existing images, so we have the exact same selection between "all images' and "new images". I made a few tests and with a normal catalog there is no problems but apparently the dynamic images are not recognized as existing images.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying out LR5. I've watched vidoes where in LR4 you can setup a slideshow to play from a folder, and while the slideshow is playing you can take new photos from a tethered camera and it will automatically add it to the slideshow.
In LR5, on my computer (Mac), the incoming photo seems to get stuck and does not make it into the slideshow. I have to stop the slideshow, and restart it to see the new incoming photo taken by tethered camera. I need this function for an event, so I'm just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether it is a bug in LR5?
I've selected the mode "Use: All Filmstrip Photos". What I've observed is that while playing the slideshow without going fuill screen, a newly taken photo from the tethered camera appears as a white tile, but then the thumbnail contents do not change. When I stop the slideshow, the photo then gets "Developed" and then it will be in the slideshow the next time I play it.
After renaming, I have to deselect and reselect images to have the filename update.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLooking forward to this update because i use a Fuji X pro 1 and I had read that lightroom 4.4 now supports this camera and sensor.
However after updating all I get in the Lens adjustment under Fuji is the Fuji x100 which has been their for some time.The exif info is showing the correct camera and lens used etc.
I have tried uninstalling and then manually removing any left over files and folders with no luck.
Do i have to install support for this camera as an addon?
Also if i look in the lightroom folder Camera profiles/camera it only lists Canon, Nikon and Sony
Lightroom 4 catalog does not recognize photos when external hard drive switched to a different USB port. The photos are in My Photopraphs in an external hard drive. I recently had to switch ports and now the catalog can't find the photos.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a major issue here, I use custom colors (created in my custom palette), X^ used to hold it very nicely, even in PDF exports etc.
Now - with the latest update, X6 "forgets" the custom colors, it resets it to default color, I have to manually set every object to the custom color all over again.
I've got a catalog that work fine in LR4.4, but when I try to upgrade them to LR5 I get the error, "Lightroom couldn't update the format of its catalog file because the file appears to be damaged." The catalogs aren't damaged as they work perfectly in LR4.4. I urgently need to update them to a new mac with LR5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
