Bought my copy of Adobe Lightroom 3.2 loving the software. I have a question about isntallation. I may have to re-format my entire PC which means allthe programmes being wiped off. Now i have already installed Adobe Lightroom once will i be able to install it again after i have formatted my PC.
View 7 RepliesI have a new Synology network drive that is formatted with the Synology native format, ext4. Photoshop CS5 works fine except that when I save a file to the drive, I get a "Can't build preview because of a disk error" message. However, after dismissing the dialog, the file saves and creates its icon in a normal manner, so the message is somewhat spurious. This is obviously annoying to have to dismiss the dialog every time I save a file.
I have three other network drives that are FAT32, and have no problems like this. The Synology drive can't be formatted FAT32.
I've found a lot of information on exporting BOM lists to excel, access, etc. but what I am trying to accomplish is to export assembly BOMs into a text file that I can import into our ERP software.
Our ERP software requires that the first character of the line be an 'S' then in the next 30 characters is the part number (trailing spaces are ignored) and then the quantity in the next 14 characters and finally the sequence of operations in the remaining 6 characters, a total of 51 characters per line.
I am using Inventor Simulation 2011 and thought that I might be able to do this by creating a custom rule; however, the BOM export snippets simply mirror the export features from the BOM table.
I need to make a pdf to upload my book to Createspace. I've read that I can format the book in Word 2010 using one of their templates.
I've also read that it won't handle photos well.
So I'm wondering if it's possible to import formatted text from Word into Xara Designer Pro 6, then add photos, then export a pdf file.
I tried importing one formatted page (I'm doing 6X9 inches) into a 6x9 page in Xara, but it pastes the whole thing as a lump that is the wrong size, way too big, and I would have to try to shrink it...
Is there a way to do this simply, that would be accurate for every page of a book?
I'm trying to open an .ai file in Illustrator CS6. I get an error message "Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Object label badly formatted" I have tried recovery mode and running recovery scripts to no avail.
I won't open or place in any other software. I can; however, see a preview in Bridge.
I'm not using any fonts software and there are no fonts present in the document. The file contains a lot of gradient mesh and a photo (.jpg, placed)
In an Inventor Drawing (.idw), dimensions are formatted (i.e., as decimal or fractional) based on the style selected for the dimension annotation. You can also force stacked-fraction formatting of specific numeric text within a text box.
However, text boxes don't seem to offer much control over retreived parameters. When you insert a value from the parameter table into your text box or leader text, the retrieved parameter always gets pulled in as a decimal number regardless of how it was formatted in the part's parameters table.
Are there any formatting functions that can be used within a text box or leader text to force fractional formatting for a retrieved parameter embedded within that text?
Is there a reference of the markup that is used with formatted text on drawings?

I recently upgraded from LR3 to LR4, and on a different computer (Mac to PC/Windows 7) so I have a feeling I'll be here a lot.
I have transferred everything over to the new computer, and have "installed" the purchased Presets in question (Kevin Kubota Vintage Delish). As far as I can tell, the installation went smoothly and successful, however, when I run LR4, there are still no Presets to choose from.
After installing Elements V12 I am no longer able to activate Lightroom V 3.2. Message comes up: Application error and gives this (0xc000007b) in the text.

I also have LR 2.7 installed.
As the installation is about to proceed, I get this error message:
"Error 2753: The file lightroom.exe is not marked for installation"
Things I have tried:
Standard uninstallation of LR3 Beta-I am unable to uninstall LR3 Beta from control panel - I seem to be missing a catalogue (C:Temp {CB83B0....) containing the msi file that was supposedly in my C"Temp folder. I probably deleted it in a disk cleanup.
Following a troubleshooting page in the Knowledge Base:
Removal of lightroom.exe and preferences.agprefs files.
Moving all folders in .../AppData/Roamin/Adobe/Lightroom into a new folder on desktop.
Moving all folders in ..../Pictures/Lightroom/Lightroom Previews.Irdata into a new folder on desktop
Moved Database.Irdb into a new folder on desktop
Rebooting into a clean boot, closing all but basic services and programs.
Always the same message.
I just downloaded the LR4 upgrade and when I double clicked the installion icon in Finder I got an error in Installer application:
"Invalid Distribution File/Package" Here is the full list of errors:

I just installed OS 10.6.3 Snow Leopard with no troubles. I am running a CoreDuo iMac with 4 gb RAM and plenty of HD space. I have LR3 on my computer.
As my image collection grows I need more space. How is it best to use LR with two drives?

I searched the Adome Forums but did not find any similar postings.. This is on Mac Lion OS.
I just signed up for the monthly membership to CC and downloaded LR and PS, both downloaded ok. PS is working but when I went to register the LR I get finished and it gives the error "assertion failed".
I have used LR 3 on this computer, but a few months ago it stopped working and I had my son uninstall it from this computer, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I recently installed the trial version of Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 (a video editing programme) but un-installed it again because it did not suit my requirements.
Since I installed PowerDirector, Lightroom has become unbearably slow. It is barely usable now. Before, LR was very fast on my system.
I need getting my system back to the previous performance. I have already run a PowerDirector specific “cleaning” utility, CLCleaner2_PowerDVD_11.exe and also Piriform CCleaner and System Mechanic but the problems persist.
I use Lightroom 1.4 and want to upgrade to 3.2. After installing the software I can't open the application (message: the application Lightroom has suddenly stopped...). I tried to remove old prefs, old application, other Adobe prefs and finally all Adobe software but Lightroom refuses to start up. I tried to create another user and for the new user the thing is working. I really really hope to find a way to get it running on my old user-account because of a lot of other software, server-connections etc etc. I am working on Mac OS 10.5.8.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had LR 3 then upgraded to LR 4 and everything was fine. My hard drive crashed last week so had to have it replaced. my images were safe on my Drobo. I got my pc back today and am reinstalling all my software. I reinstalled LR3 then went to adobe and downloaded my upgrade to LR4. When I started LR4 it asked if I wanted to update all of my LR3 files so they would be compatible with LR4 and I said yes. I think that was my mistake. Now I can see all my old files but none of my images or folders from the time I upgraded to LR4 until now. How do I view all of my more current folders and images? I haven't moved any of them...they were all on my Drobo and are still there so it's not that I moved the files outside of LR.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast weekend, I formatted my PC HD and installed Windows 7 64 bit (previously installed was Vista). A human error was - perhaps - making sure that my backup of AppData was successful. However, my picture folder was on an EHD, and I suppose I would be saved anyway. I ran the import function from my EHD to LR3 (latest version), and everything went just find, except that my keywords were missing. Strange thing though, is that my lists of keywords and keyword suggestions were complete, but not connected to the photos (except for 1!!)So my question is, is there something I have missed (apart from my AppData folder) that could be fixed, or will I have to start re-tagging (keywording that is, metadata like dates etc. were imported as well)?

I happy to announce I now have a new PC with windows 7 with an upgrade to windows 8 that I can purchase. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with installing any Adobe CS5 programs on my Mac OS X 10.6.8. I successfully installed a Master Collection CS5 edition that we use in my school. But then I had to reinstall all of them and after installing it says it was successfull but all I find in my "Applications" folder is just folders of the applications and nothing to launch inside. I thought at first that maby this had something to do with cashe so I cleared all cashe and manually looked for more files that maby would have remained on the computer but I could not find any. What can I do to reinstall it successfully?
