Lightroom :: Delete File From LR Using Delete From Disk Option?
Jun 22, 2012When i try to delete a file from LR using the delete from disk option the file does not so up in my trash. I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Feb 9, 2013I have LR 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3
Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.
I checked the logs and this is the error message:
performCommandDesc could not perform command ag.library.expandAllStacks (Command was disabled.).
I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.
I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.
Nothing, same error.
One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.

Feb 26, 2013When I install Lr4 on my Windows7 64-bit laptop, does it import all my photos from Elements software?
If so, does this then double the space taken by these files, or does Lr4 just share these from Elements?
Lightroom :: 4 - Installing / Using Presets
Sep 26, 2012I recently upgraded from LR3 to LR4, and on a different computer (Mac to PC/Windows 7) so I have a feeling I'll be here a lot.
I have transferred everything over to the new computer, and have "installed" the purchased Presets in question (Kevin Kubota Vintage Delish). As far as I can tell, the installation went smoothly and successful, however, when I run LR4, there are still no Presets to choose from.

Jun 12, 2010I just purchased LR 3, after successfully using the Beta version 2.
I also have LR 2.7 installed.
As the installation is about to proceed, I get this error message:
"Error 2753: The file lightroom.exe is not marked for installation"
Things I have tried:
Standard uninstallation of LR3 Beta-I am unable to uninstall LR3 Beta from control panel - I seem to be missing a catalogue (C:Temp {CB83B0....) containing the msi file that was supposedly in my C"Temp folder. I probably deleted it in a disk cleanup.
Following a troubleshooting page in the Knowledge Base:
Removal of lightroom.exe and preferences.agprefs files.
Moving all folders in .../AppData/Roamin/Adobe/Lightroom into a new folder on desktop.
Moving all folders in ..../Pictures/Lightroom/Lightroom Previews.Irdata into a new folder on desktop
Moved Database.Irdb into a new folder on desktop
Rebooting into a clean boot, closing all but basic services and programs.
Always the same message.

I just installed OS 10.6.3 Snow Leopard with no troubles. I am running a CoreDuo iMac with 4 gb RAM and plenty of HD space. I have LR3 on my computer.

Dec 2, 2013I just signed up for the monthly membership to CC and downloaded LR and PS, both downloaded ok. PS is working but when I went to register the LR I get finished and it gives the error "assertion failed".
I have used LR 3 on this computer, but a few months ago it stopped working and I had my son uninstall it from this computer, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Oct 15, 2012I recently installed the trial version of Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 (a video editing programme) but un-installed it again because it did not suit my requirements.
Since I installed PowerDirector, Lightroom has become unbearably slow. It is barely usable now. Before, LR was very fast on my system.
I need getting my system back to the previous performance. I have already run a PowerDirector specific “cleaning” utility, CLCleaner2_PowerDVD_11.exe and also Piriform CCleaner and System Mechanic but the problems persist.

Sep 6, 2010I use Lightroom 1.4 and want to upgrade to 3.2. After installing the software I can't open the application (message: the application Lightroom has suddenly stopped...). I tried to remove old prefs, old application, other Adobe prefs and finally all Adobe software but Lightroom refuses to start up. I tried to create another user and for the new user the thing is working. I really really hope to find a way to get it running on my old user-account because of a lot of other software, server-connections etc etc. I am working on Mac OS 10.5.8.

Mar 18, 2013I had LR 3 then upgraded to LR 4 and everything was fine. My hard drive crashed last week so had to have it replaced. my images were safe on my Drobo. I got my pc back today and am reinstalling all my software. I reinstalled LR3 then went to adobe and downloaded my upgrade to LR4. When I started LR4 it asked if I wanted to update all of my LR3 files so they would be compatible with LR4 and I said yes. I think that was my mistake. Now I can see all my old files but none of my images or folders from the time I upgraded to LR4 until now. How do I view all of my more current folders and images? I haven't moved any of them...they were all on my Drobo and are still there so it's not that I moved the files outside of LR.

Nov 14, 2011Last weekend, I formatted my PC HD and installed Windows 7 64 bit (previously installed was Vista). A human error was - perhaps - making sure that my backup of AppData was successful. However, my picture folder was on an EHD, and I suppose I would be saved anyway. I ran the import function from my EHD to LR3 (latest version), and everything went just find, except that my keywords were missing. Strange thing though, is that my lists of keywords and keyword suggestions were complete, but not connected to the photos (except for 1!!)So my question is, is there something I have missed (apart from my AppData folder) that could be fixed, or will I have to start re-tagging (keywording that is, metadata like dates etc. were imported as well)?

May 31, 2013I have a laptop running LR 3.6 and want to try 4.4 to determine whether the laptop is man enough for the job. It's a Core 2 Duo T6400 2.0Ghz with 4Gb RAM and Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
If I install the trial version of 4.4 how do I make sure it doesn't mess up my 3.6 catologue, so that I can go back to it, if I'm not happy with the trial?

The message comes up: "Delete the selected master photo from disk, or just remove it from Lightroom?" I always click "from disk." The files are deleted from the Lightroom Catalog but are not deleted from the disk. I have version 5.2. However, I have had all previous versions. The problem has remained the same with all versions. Apr 15, 2012I have some duplicate plugins that I no longer use and want to delete (for example, two extra versions of the Smugmug publish plugin after I installed a newer one in a different folder, Nikon tether since I don't have Nikon, etc.). But the while the Add button is active, the Remove button is grayed out. I tried both enabled and disabled, but then I realized that Remove is grayed out for all the plugins.
I also tried opening the plugin to edit it. Then the Remove button is not grayed out, but while clicking it does break the connection, it doesn't remove the plugin.
LR 4.0 on Windows 7.

Feb 13, 2014LR 5.3New 2013 iMac with 3T fusion driveOS X Mavericks I migrated all of my apps, files, etc from a 2007 iMac, following Apple's procedure. To take advantage of the speed of the fusion drive, I moved my image files from a La Cie external drive to the iMac's fusion drive. (Yes, I am backed up, triply backed up with both external backup drives and cloud backup.) There were a few hiccups, but I straightened them out and now can access every one of my images, process, etc.
But...since the migration and importation to the iMac internal fusion drive, I cannot delete images. When I'm sorting, I use the X key to mark images for deletion. Then, when I use the standard cmd-delete key combination, I get the standard window offering me the option of just removing the image from the catalog or deleting it from the disk. When I select the latter (since I don't want rejected images clogging my hard drive), a new window appears: The file named "___" could not be moved to the trash folder."
The problem occurs only since the migration and moving of the images to the new drive.
I have tried numerous fixes suggest in various forums—create a new folder, then delete it to create a channel for LR; check permissions; repair permissions; run various commands through terminal. It's maddening because I sometimes reject a few hundred images at a time, and there's simply no reason to retain them on my drive.

Dec 28, 2011I have several versions of my catalog due to "updates / upgrades" of the catalog. I believe this happened as I added plugins and it would tell me I needed to update my catalog. Is it safe to delete the old ones? Will I lose any data? These haven't been accessed for quite some time. See screen shot.
