Lightroom :: Files With Embedded Color Profiles?

The color workspace of Lr is linear ProPhoto. If we have a TIFF file with the embedded color profile, like ProPhoto 1.8, does Lr use embedded color space (Prophoto 1.8 in this case) as workspace instead of its standard workspace?

I've got a problem where 'embed color profiles' keeps turning back on. But not just for me, everyone at my company. If you don't notice, then it ads 500+ K that's half a meg and on 1000's of drawings.
Idea for sorting through all of my CDR files and striping out the color profiles without opening each one by hand?
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6

I wish to check my understanding of embedded profiles. I will have to print out from a second machine that I will not have the ICC profile I am using installed.
You use Edit>Convert to Profile Edit>Color Settings is set to preserve profiles File>Save As is has the color management box checked with the correct profile.
When you open the file on a second machine you use Print with the following settings:Photoshop manages Color Printer Profile - If the profile is not installed on that machine will the original people appear?Disable Printers color management. Will the image print out in correct profile? What about point 6.

I haven't had this problem in CS5 photoshop but when I upgraded to CS6 photoshop I followed the recommended settings like using ProPhoto RBG.I edit in the working space colour management but not always have the same results on screen...have calibrated my monitor.
Then when it does look correct on screen and I re-import into Photoshop, my picture turns out bright red and I need to use Adobe RBG (1998). I am saving the pictures with the profile embedded, works better with Adobe RBG.What should I be using as the settings as well as management policies - currently Preserve Embedded Profiles?I don't want to have nice looking pictures in Photoshop and then have them print incorrectly or look terrible on another monitor

how to create an action or droplet that will automatically discard the embedded profile of an image so I can apply a custom color profile.
Photoshop CS2 doesn't seem to want to record this part of my process using an action or droplet.
I process thousands of images, and I don't have time to sit and click "Discard the embedded profile (don't color manage)".
Failing that, do I need to write a script?

Where is color sync located (not color utility)? I am downloading an icc profile from Ilford paper and the instructions say to first download into downloads, then move to Library. This I did. But I cannot find Color Sync to move the profile into. When I did the "search" the list that turned up was not applicable. After that it needs to go to Profiles inorder that Lightroom 4 paper profiles list can receive it and be able to print according to the profile. How will I find Profiles? I have successfully downloaded profiles before.

With LR4 and a Nikon D7000.When i import that raw in lightroom, the first view of the picture is fine then LR do its "loading" and bang, the picture changes. As RAW is not supposed to be affected by the colorspace My understanding is the embeded preview in the raw is sRGB and LR work in a different colorspace. If i change the camera for AdobeRGB, i dont have the problem and what i see from the camera to the preview then the final result is consistent. But this cause me another problem because i shoot RAW+jpeg, the backup JPEG saved in the other memory card is now AdobeRGB as well and less compatible as everybody knows, for web, print labatory, etc...
I dont have in LR any automatic developement settings. My screen is calibrated with a Spyder 3.
I'm feeling stuck in the corner as i want by backup JPEG in sRGB and n o colorshift in LR.

I retouch all my images in photoshop from lightroom so they appear next to the raw file in lightroom when I come back. Depending on where the images will be printed they can have a different embedded profiles. without having to include the profile used in the naming of the file my question is:
Is there a way of viewing the file's embedded profile from within lightroom without having to re-open in photoshop to see?

I installed LR5 from LR4 yesterday and each time I open an image in CS5 from my LR5, I get the following message:
The document "IMG_9082.CR2"has an embedded color profile that does not match the current RGB working space.
Embedded: Adobe RGB (1998)
Working sRGB IEC61966-2.1
What would you like to do?
-Use the embedded profiel (instead of the working space)
-Convert documents's colors to the working space
-Discard the embedded profile (don't color manage)
My camera's settings have it set with sRGB, LR4 and LR5 have sRGB and I have CS5 workspace as sRGB. This did not happen before.
Is it possible that when LR5 updated the LR4 catalogue, it changed the profile of all my photos? I don't know, maybe I've done something, but I can't see what as I don't remember changing anything.

Costco print services use Dry Creek Photo profiles. They ask that files be converted to color profiles in PS and say that embedded profiles will be ignored by their digital printers. I wonder if I can do this in LR4.2 without going to PS CS6.
In Lightroom 4.2, we can choose color profiles in the print module or in the export dialog. Do you know whether specifying a color profile in these will result in a converting or embedding of those files?

Is there a way to view files in LR with different profiles? I looking to perform the same function I can in PS (view>proof set up>custom>picking my stored profiles to use for viewing). I primarily use LR and prefer not to keep switching back and forth. I have LR 3.6.

I have noticed using my Canon lenses that LR provides lens profiles for most of them when I am working on RAW files. However, only some lenses have a profile available if I am working on a JPG file. Some newer lenses have profiles for both and some older lenses have profiles only for RAW. Why is that? Will Adobe eventually provide non-RAW lens profiles for all the lenses that have RAW profiles. If not, why not? Is there a rhyme or reason to deciding which non-RAW lens profiles Adobe offers? Is there any policy or Adobe explanation?
Yes, I know many newer cameras can make auto-corrections for jpegs. But that doesn't explain why Adobe offers non-RAW lens profiles for some lenses but not others.
And yes I know there are additional profiles created by users in the Lens Profile Downloader. But the question is why doesn't Adobe supply more non-RAW lens profiles? And what is that decision based on?

I have a camera not (really) supported directly by LR - so i use .tiff files created by the camera bundled software. This works fine,
Now i would like to be able to use my own camera profiles with LR with my .tiff files - when i open the RAW files (an old version is supported, so they can be opened) the profiles are availiable as expected, but when i change to the .tiff version of the file, the profiles are gone.

they're in .eps format, but when I open them in Illustrator I get a black and white photo all dissolved. So I opened them in photoshop, and I get an "Embedded Color Mismatch" or something like that.
So I use the "convert color" option and it opens up. There are other photos in there that I can view in the preview box in my "open file" window, but when I try it says, "This is the wrong format" or something similar.
Do you all have a clue that you might be able to pass on as to the best way of working with these files because I don't know what's up. They're all really nice, from those I can see, and they're all in a resolution of 300, which I convert to 72 and they look really sharp. But I need to get all of these photos working.

I am one of the people who found that PSP X6 has problems converting embedded color spaces.
After some difficulties I eventually got a case number which meant that I could get some support. I supplied a problem description and sample files to first level support. This is the reply that I received:
The file was saved as 16 bit TIFF with ProPhoto as the color space, this one is a big factor because PaintShop Pro (X5 or X6) has its own color space and is only supporting RGB color space. It is normal for PaintShop Pro to convert your image to sRGB because that is the embedded color space. Also, I suggest you to contact ProPhoto to know what do they support or if they support PaintShop Pro.
Color shifting is normal due to the color space that is being used by a specific program (i.e. PaintShop Pro). Colors that are not within the range of RGB color space will be determined as imaginary colors.

opening CS files with embedded subfolders, as you know the Photoshop CS version allows you to have multiple subfolders within folders. But the problem is the shop I work at requires us to work in Photoshop 7 for backward compatibility issues. What happens is when I open the CS files that have embedded subfolders will get lost or combined.
Question: Is there another way to rectify the problem with out opening the file in CS and manually move any embedded subfolders out to the outer hierarchy ? So when I open the CS file all of the layers will show up properly?

My question is, isn’t Illustrator supposed to use and save just one instance of an embedded image regardless of how many times it i used in an document?
A senario: If I import and embed an image and I save the document I get a pretty small files size. But when I copy this image internally in the document, say that I copy the image 10 times, I get ten times the file size. Is it supposed to do that? Why doesn't it just save the image one time?

I create vector drawings in Microsoft Office Visio and I need to be able to convert raster images from PDFs into vector images compatible with Visio. I've tried tracing the bitmap with various options but the line quality produced when saved to a .svg file is not adequate for our needs. Images from a PDF that are not embedded work perfectly by saving to a .svg file, but the bitmap comes in as one unusable entity. Simply put, can X6 convert embedded bitmaps from within PDFs into vector files?

I'm having some trouble with colour profiles in OSX. Basically i use a Mac laptop and Apple display. When i work in photoshop, and then save an image for web use, the colour profile difference means that the saved image looks quite a lot different to the photoshop version (this happens on both the laptop screen, and external display.
All i want is the colours in photoshop to display how they would look in my browser. So if i set a page background on a webpage to be #c5c1ba and then open up photoshop and start colouring with #c5c1ba, they look the same shade.
