I have a lot of old pictures that I no longer want to keep the DNG (converted from NEF) files for. I'd rather have a JPG (or a DNG that does not contain RAW data, leaving only JPG) for purposes of saving space. Is there a way I can do this with only a few button clicks on a large swath of my library?
View 10 RepliesWhen i try to delete a file from LR using the delete from disk option the file does not so up in my trash. I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.
I checked the logs and this is the error message:
performCommandDesc could not perform command ag.library.expandAllStacks (Command was disabled.).
I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.
I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.
Nothing, same error.
One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.

Can the add, delete, convert indicators be moved from the right side of the pen curser to the left of the curser for right handed users? The indicators are obscured by the pen when using the pen in the right hand on the Wacom Cintiq. Option preference for right or left hand is desired.

I deleted the folder on my hard drive and the photos in lightroom. Now when I tried to import them using 'add' they are grayed out as if I already imported them. The message comes up: "Delete the selected master photo from disk, or just remove it from Lightroom?" I always click "from disk." View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some duplicate plugins that I no longer use and want to delete (for example, two extra versions of the Smugmug publish plugin after I installed a newer one in a different folder, Nikon tether since I don't have Nikon, etc.). But the while the Add button is active, the Remove button is grayed out. I tried both enabled and disabled, but then I realized that Remove is grayed out for all the plugins.
I also tried opening the plugin to edit it. Then the Remove button is not grayed out, but while clicking it does break the connection, it doesn't remove the plugin.
LR 4.0 on Windows 7.
I have about 20 gigs of previews on my hard drive, yet have LR set up to delete the 1:1 previews after 1 day. How to force LR to get rid of all these previews and free up the 20 gigs of hard drive space?

View 5 Replies View RelatedLR 5.3New 2013 iMac with 3T fusion driveOS X Mavericks I migrated all of my apps, files, etc from a 2007 iMac, following Apple's procedure. To take advantage of the speed of the fusion drive, I moved my image files from a La Cie external drive to the iMac's fusion drive. (Yes, I am backed up, triply backed up with both external backup drives and cloud backup.) There were a few hiccups, but I straightened them out and now can access every one of my images, process, etc.
But...since the migration and importation to the iMac internal fusion drive, I cannot delete images. When I'm sorting, I use the X key to mark images for deletion. Then, when I use the standard cmd-delete key combination, I get the standard window offering me the option of just removing the image from the catalog or deleting it from the disk. When I select the latter (since I don't want rejected images clogging my hard drive), a new window appears: The file named "___" could not be moved to the trash folder."
The problem occurs only since the migration and moving of the images to the new drive.
I have tried numerous fixes suggest in various forums—create a new folder, then delete it to create a channel for LR; check permissions; repair permissions; run various commands through terminal. It's maddening because I sometimes reject a few hundred images at a time, and there's simply no reason to retain them on my drive.
I have several versions of my catalog due to "updates / upgrades" of the catalog. I believe this happened as I added plugins and it would tell me I needed to update my catalog. Is it safe to delete the old ones? Will I lose any data? These haven't been accessed for quite some time. See screen shot.

I managed to move my catalogue over to my f drive,but seemed to delete the lr5 catalogue that i have on the c drive. I thought i had deleted it from the c drive but when i open up preference and general under catALOGUE SETTINGS it will come up with the catalogue as still being on the c drive. when i open up the f drive the lr cat will show up with the three files in it so i evidently moved the files successfully. How can i rectify this permanently so the lr5 cat is not in the c drive?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomehow, in one of my first imports into LR3, I managed to get dng+jpeg instead of just dng. I can see the jpegs in Bridge, but not in LR. I would like to delete them and thought the best way to do this would be in LR. But I can't figure out how to separate them. Are they stacked? I'm rather new to LR and don't have any experience with stacking.
I read in an old post about making sure "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos" is checked in preferences and I've done that now, but I expect that only applies to future imports.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have LR 4.2 on Windows 7 x64 (having recently upgraded from LR3).After flagging images in a collection as rejected I want to remove them from disk.In LR3 I just clicked Ctrl + Backspace and I had the option to delete from disk or just remove from catalogue, I don't get that option in LR4
worked fine in LR3. I've searched the preferences and can't see any option, I've also clicked "reset all dialogues" in case that was hiding the option but still nothing. I've tried in Library and Develop and no option still, I can only remove from catalog
I have found that I cannot delete any photos from LR 4.1 using any delete command (from disc choice). Ctrl+Backspace method or right click -> delete method. No amount of fussing going to other files and then back to the ones I want to delete works. Rebooting the program doesn't work. Google search shows that this may be a known bug.
I cannot delete anything in LR (from disc) and can only delete one file at a time from explorer (directly from LR - that is, LR will not show me more than one file at a time in explorer). I am on new computer (never had this issue before): Windows 7 professional 64 bit, processor i7-3770 3.40 GHz, 16GB RAM.
Now I find that I cannot move files at all through the LR 4.1 interface.Perhaps windows is not giving permission to LR to move anything?
I recently migrated firm Lightroom V4 to V5.
In the process I converted 3 catalogs and they are just fine.
Now every time I startup and the list of catalogs is shown the old ones are still there.
How can I get rid of them without deleting the wrong files?

I found instructions that said to select the keyword. But I have no way to select the keyword. At least I haven't found the way. In the Library, where the keywords are, I found no way to select them. Clicking on them does no good. I found I could uncheck keywords from the Keyword List, but that requires a lot of scrolling. There must be a faster way.
In "Folder" I can delete file without problem. However, this is not possible from Collection. I wish to be able to delete files from collection as well. Moreover, when I delete a file in the Folder I do the following:
- Select the files to delete
- Press "Del" on the keyboard
- Click (with my mouse) on "Delete from Disk"
On Mac, I can not use the keyboard to confirm the deletion. It does works on Windows.
