Jun 16, 2005I installed a large number of fonts on my computer (27720). Mostly all of my programs that use fonts Word, FIreworks, Dreamweaver, etc.. work just fine. But Photoshop chokes on them when loading and its performance goes to nothing causing it to freeze/take very long times to do anything (start up even).
I'm assuming its trying to do some big operation with them at start up. Does anyone know of anything that might might fix photoshop (CS) into skipping or avoiding what ever it is it does with fonts that makes it so slow when given a large amount?
Obviously the apparent solution would be to remove the fonts and I would if it were all the programs acting up, but it's just photoshop and im hoping there is some easy option fix :/.

Jan 22, 2014I'm installing Lightroom 5 in a classroom of Macs with OS X 10.9. When another user logs on a to computer and starts Lightroom, Lightroom welcome screen pops up again and asks for country, and in next screen displays the serial number Lightroom was activated with. After pressing OK the user can proceed to use Lightroom. How to avoid the welcome screen from appearing to all users? Obviously we can't have the serial number leaking out to public like this. Luckily this came up while testing the installation.

The registration file seems to be in a correct location (/Library/Application support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 5.0 Registration)

I would like to store all the photos on a Drobo NAS, keeping the catalog on a desktop. Then create a mirror image sync of the catalog on different computers using chronosync.Users will not be accessing the ctalogs simultaneously.

Aug 26, 2013We are attempting to run Lightroom in our photo journalism classes and we are unable to setup the application because it will not create the Catalog file.Â
All of the users in Open Directory have their OSX 10.8 home folder stored on our Apple Server. This enabled them to log into any of the computers in the lab and have access to their data/documents.
Lightroom refuses to create the Catalog file because it treats the home folder as a network folder.
My predecessor found some way around this in the past but he didn't document it and I can't find any evidence of it either.

Surely there are other people out there trying to use Adobe Products who also utilize Apple's "Open Directory" (its like apple's version of Active Directory).
Lightroom :: Sharing V4 Catalog With Multiple Users On Same Windows Machine
Jul 19, 2013I just started out using Lightroom 4 for managing family photos. What I want to do is to share the LR catalog so that my kids and wife can access the database from their own accounts. I tried sharing the directory with the catalog and all the photos. But when I open lightroom from my kids's account, I keep getting an "unexpected error openning the catalog".

I am using Windows 8, 64bit
The catalog was created in my account (adminstrator)
the other accounts are normal accounts

I have searched around but all the questions ask about sharing on network drives. But I just want to share the catalog on the same machine on local harddrive. I made sure that all the other lightrooms are closed in the other accounts (everyone else is signed off) before I tried to open it from my kid's account.

I want the sound file to fade in and fade out at start and finish. The 2 fade in/out buttons work, but, fading seems to go from 0 -60mph in a .5 seconds.
So, is there away of stretching the fading at each end of the file?

Feb 28, 2013I'm doing a revision rearrangement and would like to add to the BOM New, Existing, and Relocated properties. The problem is that each individual component may be unique. Ie. I have a desk w/ 3 identical monitors. One monitor is existing and the others are new. I'd like to have the BOM show that I have 3 monitors, 2 are new and 1 is existing. The BOM would have 4 columns, one for the total number of parts and 3 for the New, Existing, and Relocated counts.Â

Jul 9, 2013 I need labeling my alignment. Ive been trying to figure out a way to label my alignment in drawing with a 45° line that guides another line and text oriented by view that names the station and a setting that starts a count, like "COURVE 1, COURVE 2", from the start to the end of the alignment.  All on an adjustable length line, but all I got is fixed length lines, and I'm having overlapping problems when I have multiple horizontal geometry points or other points to label.
Dragging the labels upward pull the leader line component with them and they do not remain anchored to the structure. When I say leader, I am not referring to the dragged state as that creates a leade with a landing at an angle. When i use the grip in the alignment, it comes to an dragged state label, it doesn't fit the pattern I need. What I really want is a line component anchored to the alignment point even though I drag the "Line 2" and the text of the label upward or downward, while these are still oriented by the view.

An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

Oct 5, 2012After upgrading to 4.2, any image when displayed on the second monitory appears soft and blurry, even if the image in the first monitor is tack sharp. This happens in any view mode, such as loupe, grid, compare, etc. This was not an issue with 4.1 for me.

Aug 12, 2012Any way to label my structures in profile with a vertical line that shows the structure ID, Station number, invert data, etc. all on an adjustable length line. Ive got it worked out for how to show it on a  fixed length line, but the problem is when you have multiple structures in close proximity the labels tend to overlap. Dragging the labels upward pull the leader line compnent with them and they do not remain anchored to the structure. When I say leader, I am not referring to the dragged state as that creates a leade with a landing at an angle. What I really want is a line component that stay perfectly vertical and remains anchored to the structure insertion point even though I drag the text of the label upward. Is there a way to do this? Seaching the internet and reviewing ym texts has yet to yield an answer.

Lightroom :: Adjustment Lag Using External Monitor With 4.3?
Dec 29, 2012I have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing. I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2). I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.Â
