I have Lightroom 5.3 (64 bit) installed on my desktop and laptop. My images and catalog are saved on an external hard-drive that connects to both laptop and desktop via eSata. I just started experiencing trouble with Lightroom on my desktop - when I open the program, it stalls on the startup screen (Lightroom 5, all the designers names, etc.) and won't go any further. I am not experiencing the same problem with the laptop, LR works just fine using exactly the same images and catalog. Both computers operate on Windows 7 Professional.
I downloaded CS4, extracted the files. WHen I go to the desktop icon I click open the folder and double click on setup. Nothing at all happens for many minutes. Then I get the Checking System Profile dialogue and it progresses along until about 90% finished and then just sits there and goes no further. No error message -
When I attempt to launch PSCS6 from Bridge, it hangs and I get a Run Time error... R6034. At that point all I can do is restart my computer. CS6 works fine as long as I don't try to get into it through Bridge. How to fix?
1. Was Editing a rather large and complex file, 16bit, 1,6GB 2. Pressed ctr+s to save the progress 3. Immediately launched a 3rd party plugin, Niksoft Define 2 (I mean with two keyboard shortcuts in a row, within seconds of each other) 4. Plugin started 5. Background saving got stuck at 0% and went nowehere as the plugin launched. 6. No progress on the background saving after the plugin exited, and not able to save as a new file because PS said it was already saving the file. After 20 minutes still no progress. Taskmanager showed PS using 0% CPU and no disk i/o activity even though it stated it was saving.
Workaround:
1. Duplicated the entire psb to a new file inside photoshop. 2. Saved and it worked fine. 3. Had to terminate photoshop via the task manager as it wouldnt let me exit "before file saving was complete".
My workflow here was probably a bit quick and "inconsiderate", but I would still consider this behaviour a PS bug - I mean whats the use of background saving if it stalls when you are doing other tasks. (OS W7 x64+PS CS6 EXT)
I have a Dell Studio 540 desktop running Vista Home Premium. Burner is a PLDS DVD+-RW DH-16A6S ATA Device. I recently burnt 1hr35m mpg to double layered disc without any issue. I then used VSX2 to create DVD using slightly modified menu templates and 12 chapters. I felt the initial stall may have been a glitch so attempted again. The burn stopped once more at 99% complete as indicated in attached jpg.
Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 just stop working every five to ten minutes for periods of about 10 to 20 seconds. Photoshop palettes and windows all go blank if I click anywhere in the application space during these brownouts. Sometimes the entire system stops responding to the point all I can do is move the mouse around pointlessly.
After it does whatever it is doing the app suddenly snaps back to life and anything else I may have clicked in any application in the meantime instantly responds allsuddenlyatthesametime in a flurry of dialogs and actions. Often when Photoshop comes back the palettes have no titles and seem to have been corrupted and I have to restart the app.
It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing though I'm not entirely sure about that. Seems that it happens most when I try to use the brush tool or apply changes to text, but that may just be because I use those tools more than others.
For the past three day I've been modeling a character for an animation im making, but now when ever i try to open the file in Maya, Maya stalls at reading file 99% and stops working.
I have CS6 installed on a Mac Pro desktop, 3.3 Ghz dual-core processor, 6 GB RAM, several physical drives configured as scratch disks, and no other applications running. I CAN'T be running out of RAM.
The files I'm cropping are .PSD files, no larger than 34 Mb in size. I can't even crop a web-res image - the progress bar grinds to a near halt half way through a simple crop. The machine has not locked up and PS does respond to "cancel" commands.
Graphics card is an nVidia GE Force 8800 GT, and the drivers are the latest from nVidia.I've restarted the machine and restarted PS. Delete Photoshop preference file and try it again?
Just recently, upon closing PSP x5, a message window pops up, the title area usually references using the e-learning center or "Explore more ways to learn and love photography", but the window itself is empty except for the message "Do not display this message again" with a checkbox and a Close button. The Close button does not work, nor does the red X close window button. I have to go into Task Manager to finish closing the program.
I'm on a Windows 8 machine and this just started happening after months of use.
I'm running Elements 12 on a Macbook Pro with 16GB RAM and Mavericks OS. I find that Organizer stalls and/or crashes when I browse photos. I'm shooting mostly in RAW. Is Elements and/or my Mac not robust enough to handle the file sizes involved?
LR will not open PS6 on same drive. Wants to open backup copy. when backup copy is off line it will not open at all just keeps making a copy of the image that I want to edit. Link between LR and PS6 seems to broken so how do I fix it? Yes, it does ask to fix link. I just don't which copy of PS it is linking to when it asks. Backup copy or main copy on home drive.
I have Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS6. If I'm viewing a photo in LR and select edit in CS6, the photo doesn't open in camera raw, even though I have CR selected in photoshop preferences as my preference. Is this normal?
When I attempt to open any file in Lightroom 4 I get the following message: "the file named......is off line or missing", in develop the message is "the folder cannot be found".I can open the files in Photoshop 6 with no problem.
When transferring a picture developed in Camera Raw in Lightroom for further development in CS5 you normally get a choice wether to open it with Lightroom adjustments or as an Original.
I updated to LR5 awhile ago and ever since whenever I plug in my cardreader with memory card my old LR4 catalog opens. I have been updating since the original version of LR and this has never happened. I went into the LR4 preferences and unchecked the box about opening this catalog when a cardreader is detected- I also have that preference set in LR5- the preference about which catalog to open... I tried to pick LR5 in the LR4 catalog but it said I can't pick LR5 because it is too new for the LR4 catalog- in LR5 I have it set to open LR5- so in LR4 I tried to set it to prompt me before opening a catalog- none of that worked-now I just get the prompt- so how do I get LR4 to stop opneing when a cardreader is detected- even though I have unchecked that prompt- and I have tried unchecking it and then restarting the catalog- none of that works.
I have a bunch of bmp files that I made by scanning old 35mm slides. Photoshop opens them with no problem, lets me modify and save. Lightroom can't see them (NO photos found). LR does see tiffs made from the same bmp files. Do I take away from this that LR cannot deal with bmp files, or (I hope) am I just missing something basic?
From LR5.2 edit in Photoshop locks up LR and PS doesn't open. Only Task Manager frees up LR.This started happening out of the blue in the middle of a day working like this and not doing anything else.
It also happend six months ago with LR5.0. Then, it freed up when I removed a program I'd installed so assumed that was the cause. This time, I removed anything updated or installed in the past day but no effect. Also update ACR. No effect.
Searching this forum it appears similar problems go unresolved so particapants clearly give up and presumably the situation corrects itself ultimately. Or maybe it never does!! Who knows? Certainly not Adobe who never respond here. They shift responsibility to their customers to provide support for each other. Amazing cheek! Imagine if a motor company did that!! Oh, your car needs servicing, take it round to Joe Bloggs and leave it on his driveway...
I can't afford these hiccups and the lack of interest, concern or care from Adobe is galling. They are so big and ubiquitous that they feel they can ignore their customers. And they do and they get away with it.
I get using the last versions of LR and PS CC in Mavericks 10.9.1 LR 5.3 - PS 14.2 + CR 8.3 Resetting preferences (removing files under library/preferences) does not solve the problem. URL....
Working on a Mac pro dual core with 16 g ram. Was last working on an image in develop module when I closed the app. On relaunching it opens to the image I was working on, shows the little box that says loading then the program freezes and I get the very loved spinning beach ball of color. Have to force quit. Have restarted computer and so far have the same problem every time I try to relaunch. I have about 20 images in the library. All was working well prior with just a little slowness in response with adjustment sliders.
I take RAW photos using Canon DSLRs and I use to edit CR2 files.I've just got a brand new Lightroom 5 boxed with my new 5D camera and started to use it,
When I open the photos in the library or in develop mode I see the photos in good and light colors in the miniatures in the bottom of the screen.
When I double click on a photo, it opens up in a bigger format and it looks also beautiful (in the same way I can see in the photocamera display), however after around 1 second of "loading" the photo changes its colors and it's no more bright and beautiful it changes in more dull colors.
how to keep the camera settings in raw files and edit the photos starting from the edits that the camera made?
I just bought LR5 yesterday. I own Photoshop CS5. Normally I open my images in LR, make my raw adjustments and then open in CS5 for my creative editing. When I do that now from LR5, the adjustments revert back to the original settings when opened in CS5. I downloaded and installed the new Camera RAW 8.1... it didn't make a difference.
LR5 is useless to me if the adjustments don't transfer over to CS5 as I ALWAYS use finish in CS5.
I have two very annoying bugs that are wasting a lot of my time.
This is LR 4.2, Mac OS 10.7.3
When I try to open a selected batch of photos from LR (usually around 30 photos) and right click on the filmstrip and click on preset that I have made to open in Photoshop CS5 as Tiffs, sRGB, 8-bits 300dpi, no compression (same as I had on LR3), the photos DON'T GET RENDERED in Lr before opening, they will open one by one in Photoshop, which is a pain because during this tme the computer will be unusable. AND most of the time, one photo of the batch won't open at all - if I select 30, only 29 will open.
I am getting really frustrated as all of a sudden Lightroom has started opening the original DNG files for editing in Photoshop (CS5) instead of creating a TIFF file and editing that. I have checked all my settings and it still specifies TIFF as the edited file, it just doesn't work. I have tried restarting everything (computer, LR, PS) and every once in a while it will use a TIFF file, but 99 times out of a 100 it opens the DNG itself. The only think that has changed recently is that I updated to LR 4.1 RC 2 (previously had RC 1) - although I think it still worked after this update. Then I updated Adobe Camera Raw to 6.7.
