LR will not open PS6 on same drive. Wants to open backup copy. when backup copy is off line it will not open at all just keeps making a copy of the image that I want to edit. Link between LR and PS6 seems to broken so how do I fix it? Yes, it does ask to fix link. I just don't which copy of PS it is linking to when it asks. Backup copy or main copy on home drive.
View 2 RepliesI have Lightroom 5.3 (64 bit) installed on my desktop and laptop. My images and catalog are saved on an external hard-drive that connects to both laptop and desktop via eSata. I just started experiencing trouble with Lightroom on my desktop - when I open the program, it stalls on the startup screen (Lightroom 5, all the designers names, etc.) and won't go any further. I am not experiencing the same problem with the laptop, LR works just fine using exactly the same images and catalog. Both computers operate on Windows 7 Professional.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated to LR5 awhile ago and ever since whenever I plug in my cardreader with memory card my old LR4 catalog opens. I have been updating since the original version of LR and this has never happened. I went into the LR4 preferences and unchecked the box about opening this catalog when a cardreader is detected- I also have that preference set in LR5- the preference about which catalog to open... I tried to pick LR5 in the LR4 catalog but it said I can't pick LR5 because it is too new for the LR4 catalog- in LR5 I have it set to open LR5- so in LR4 I tried to set it to prompt me before opening a catalog- none of that worked-now I just get the prompt- so how do I get LR4 to stop opneing when a cardreader is detected- even though I have unchecked that prompt- and I have tried unchecking it and then restarting the catalog- none of that works.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of bmp files that I made by scanning old 35mm slides. Photoshop opens them with no problem, lets me modify and save. Lightroom can't see them (NO photos found). LR does see tiffs made from the same bmp files. Do I take away from this that LR cannot deal with bmp files, or (I hope) am I just missing something basic?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom LR5.2 edit in Photoshop locks up LR and PS doesn't open. Only Task Manager frees up LR.This started happening out of the blue in the middle of a day working like this and not doing anything else.
It also happend six months ago with LR5.0. Then, it freed up when I removed a program I'd installed so assumed that was the cause. This time, I removed anything updated or installed in the past day but no effect. Also update ACR. No effect.
Searching this forum it appears similar problems go unresolved so particapants clearly give up and presumably the situation corrects itself ultimately. Or maybe it never does!! Who knows? Certainly not Adobe who never respond here. They shift responsibility to their customers to provide support for each other. Amazing cheek! Imagine if a motor company did that!! Oh, your car needs servicing, take it round to Joe Bloggs and leave it on his driveway...
I can't afford these hiccups and the lack of interest, concern or care from Adobe is galling. They are so big and ubiquitous that they feel they can ignore their customers. And they do and they get away with it.
I get using the last versions of LR and PS CC in Mavericks 10.9.1 LR 5.3 - PS 14.2 + CR 8.3 Resetting preferences (removing files under library/preferences) does not solve the problem. URL....
View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking on a Mac pro dual core with 16 g ram. Was last working on an image in develop module when I closed the app. On relaunching it opens to the image I was working on, shows the little box that says loading then the program freezes and I get the very loved spinning beach ball of color. Have to force quit. Have restarted computer and so far have the same problem every time I try to relaunch. I have about 20 images in the library. All was working well prior with just a little slowness in response with adjustment sliders.

When I open the photos in the library or in develop mode I see the photos in good and light colors in the miniatures in the bottom of the screen.
When I double click on a photo, it opens up in a bigger format and it looks also beautiful (in the same way I can see in the photocamera display), however after around 1 second of "loading" the photo changes its colors and it's no more bright and beautiful it changes in more dull colors.
how to keep the camera settings in raw files and edit the photos starting from the edits that the camera made?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought LR5 yesterday. I own Photoshop CS5. Normally I open my images in LR, make my raw adjustments and then open in CS5 for my creative editing. When I do that now from LR5, the adjustments revert back to the original settings when opened in CS5. I downloaded and installed the new Camera RAW 8.1... it didn't make a difference.
LR5 is useless to me if the adjustments don't transfer over to CS5 as I ALWAYS use finish in CS5.
How do I get lightroom 3 to open and be able to see the red, yellow and green buttons on top left?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two very annoying bugs that are wasting a lot of my time.
This is LR 4.2, Mac OS 10.7.3
When I try to open a selected batch of photos from LR (usually around 30 photos) and right click on the filmstrip and click on preset that I have made to open in Photoshop CS5 as Tiffs, sRGB, 8-bits 300dpi, no compression (same as I had on LR3), the photos DON'T GET RENDERED in Lr before opening, they will open one by one in Photoshop, which is a pain because during this tme the computer will be unusable. AND most of the time, one photo of the batch won't open at all - if I select 30, only 29 will open.
I am getting really frustrated as all of a sudden Lightroom has started opening the original DNG files for editing in Photoshop (CS5) instead of creating a TIFF file and editing that. I have checked all my settings and it still specifies TIFF as the edited file, it just doesn't work. I have tried restarting everything (computer, LR, PS) and every once in a while it will use a TIFF file, but 99 times out of a 100 it opens the DNG itself. The only think that has changed recently is that I updated to LR 4.1 RC 2 (previously had RC 1) - although I think it still worked after this update. Then I updated Adobe Camera Raw to 6.7.

I tried opening in Photoshop and a different error occurs. I avoid PS as much as humanly possible and have not used it since acquiring the D4. BUT as I recall it shares this module with Lightroom so this message is unexpected as LR has no problem with all the other D4 images.

1. What do the two LR messages usually mean?
2. Does the CS5 message look like a separate problem . If so why does the camera raw module work in LR?
i am getting "unexpected error opening catalog" message when opening a catalog that worked fine 2 days ago. Other catalogs open on the same drive Mac pro LR5.3 ..Lots of worked had gone into that catalog.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from LR2 to 3 a while ago, and recently, I've had an odd problem opening my lightly edited files into CS4. I just do command E on my mac, and they open right into CS4. When the image(s) open, they almost seem completely desaturated? I shoot a nikon D700, raw, copy the NEF files into LR3 upon import, do light edits in LR (white balance, recovery, tone curve, some adjustment brush...) and then will open selected files into CS4 for futher tweaking. Why these images are doing this? If I go back into lightroom and "reset all settings" and then open, the images open fine.

Upon opening program it has begun to freeze. I have researched and discovered that I have a file in my catalog lrcat.lock. I have deleted the file and sometimes the program will work normally. Then for no apparent reason it will lock up again upon reopening. I go back to the catalog and the lrcat.lock file is back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR 4.2 and trying to export to PS CS6 on my Win 7 Asus 4gb laptop with 45gb free space on my hard drive.
I have made substantial edits to a raw file in LR and am attempting to export it to PS for final edits (cloning out extraneous features) at 16cm and 150 ppi (less than ideal but still too large). The working file is 73 mb.
However, I am getting an unsufficient memory error when trying this on Tif or Psd, even Jpg. I can get it to export as original, which gives me a DNG but then I get the same lack of memory issue when trying to open it in Photoshop.
What I can do is open the working DNG file in Photoshop but then only some of my adjustments come through - all the noise removal I have done has gone and the image is very noisy in PS. I can also convert it to Tiff using VSO Image Resizer and open this in PS but again, the noise is there.
The image is to be used as the cover photo on an A4 magazine so needs to be of print-quality.

I've been running LR 4.1 for a few weeks without a hitch.
Just now I tried to open it and I got an 'Unexpected error opening catalog' message. Since there is only one catalog, I chose 'Choose a different catalog' and created a new one. LR opened fine then.
However, I could not open the existing catalog, even from within LR.
Holding down the Alt key before clicking the LR icon in the System Tray opens a window headed LR 4.1 64-bit Properties. There are various tabs in the window. I'm not sure what I should be doing with any of them. If I click on OK at the bottom of the window, nothing happens.
Finally, in C/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4/ the Master Catalog.ircat is visible. But, just below this, in /Lightroom 4.1, there is no Master Catalog.ircat. Is this normal?
I have run LR 3 for some time and it has worked well. I have been away and when I now wish to run the program I get an error from Microsoft C++ runtime library saying that the program has requested to terminate in an unusual way. Re-installing LR has not solved the problem

System has been stable for ages now suddenly whenever I enter the develop module I get a crash with the hint that CameraRAW.dll is to blame. Updated to v5.2, same results. Tried old v4.4, again same crash. All other modules are working fine, just can't enter develop. We have tried reinstalling and changing monitor configurations all to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed lightroom x86 windows 7 onto a new laptop as network admin. Installed from the disk and licenced as net admin. I then go to create a new catalogue and type the name and save to My Docs "local HDD" once i select save the program closes. I get the windows 7 spinning ring but nothing else. If i click lightroom shortcut it won't load as it know's their is still an instance open in the background. I have it working on my machine using the same method.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout every other time I open Lightroom or switch the catalog, Lightroom will hang. Usually some thumbnails from the catalog will be visible; if it was after starting Lightroom, the splashscreen remains visible.
I am using Lightroom 5.3 64bit on Windows 7. (The problem was already there with Lightroom 3.6, but not quite as frequently)
My main catalog has about 14.000 pictures, a second catalog about 10.000. The problem exists with both catalogs.
Sometimes, deleting all previews works, sometimes the catalog remains unopenable.
I have rebuild my catalog from scratch several times (losing all virtual copies and edit histories).
The least-data-loss method seems to be to rename the catalog directory, so Lightroom will create a new empty one. Then import all photos from the old renamed catalog.
What I have tried so far, to no avail:
- Upgrading from LR 3.6 to 5.3.
- New hardware (Mainboard/CPU/RAM/Power supply; CPU: AMD->Intel, Graphics: nVidia->Intel).
- Reinstalling Lightroom
- Deleting Preferences file
- Moving pictures from network drive to a local harddisk.
- Moving pictures and catalog to a different hard disk (physical, not just other partition).
- Stopping all unneeded services and processes, down to a bare minimum.
There is not a whole lot of other software running on my machine: Dropbox, iTunes background services, Spyder3 monitor calibration, MS Security Essentias, Epson Print driver Icon. No toolbars, desktop-apps or what have you.
Opening my raw files in Ligthroom makes them yellow. Exporting my yellow files from LR tot Photoshop Elements gives them back their right colors.

How can I change the contrast and.or color s on the front Panel to make it easier to see the various menus. I have recently started to loose some of my sight and the opening Panel is now difficult to read / work through.Is it possible to show the various editing options etc. as white on black rather than white on grey ?
