RAW CR2 from Canon T4i
I succesfully imported a few times shortly after purchase of LR5 a couple weeks ago. Saw another thread and tried deleting the Preference file--didn't change anything. Stumped and terribly disappointed--this shouldn't be such a chore just getting images imported.
I get a "could not be read" msg while trying to import NEF files to my new iMac. Running 10.7.4 and LR4.1, Camera Raw 7. It doesn't happen every time. To date, the only solution is to restart my computer and then I'm able to import the image files.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to import files for the first time and LR 4.3 said they can't be read. I've already had difficulty with the install not working on my user account so I had to set up a new one for LR to work and now this.
View 11 Replies View RelatedThe photos are coming up when Lightroom opens but they cannot be imported bc they 'cannot be read'. Some of these have previously been imported without any problems but none of them can be read now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using 5.3 with OS 10.8.5. Out of the blue I cannot import photos. I've experienced two things: at first the application would seemingly hang-up indefinitely as if were going to import, but nothing happened. I tried importing everything on the card (100~ images) and just one photo. Now I'm getting the following message:
The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (1)
I've restarted my computer, tried running only LIghtroom, etc.
I insert an SDHC card into a card reader, LR starts, reads the photos and generates a preview so I can select which photos to import. I click on import and LR shows a progress bar that proceeds too quickly. When the progress bar completes LR informs me:
"The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (50)"
50 is the count of files that "could not be read".
1. LR read the files to generate the previews.
2. I can read the files with Explorer and copy them to folders.
3. I can then tell LR to add the folders that I copied to the files to and LR can read them just fine.
This behavior is consistent across multiple SD cards from different cameras with different formats of files (jpeg, nef, mov).
I am running Windows 7.1 64-bit with a quad core i7 and 12GB of memory.
I have used Lightroom for awhile and now I cant import any images. I recently got a new camera (D600) and thought that that was the problem but i cant get any images to import. Even form my D7000. I have checked my disc permissions and updated everything i can. What am I missing? I keep receiving an error message 535 files cannot be read. I am however able to import images onto my desktop and into Apeture....
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to import files to Lightroom 4 from my camera or a file folder, there is an error message that reads "files could not be read". This just started a week ago and I'm not sure what changed to cause the problem. I use a Canon 7D and I shoot in RAW.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI shot using an eye-fi card. The card autmatically generates a xmp file with geodata in it. LR auto imports these images and adds lens correction and a copy right tag.
What I can't do is automatically is get LR to read the xmp file and include this in the catalogue. I am having to right click images and select read metadata from file.
There must be a better work flow then this.
I am a Canon shooter and a seasoned Lightroom user. About a month ago my Mac stopped allowing me to import images from my CF card into Lightroom. I have worked with Mac and Adobe to no avail. At this point I know that my Mac can see the card and will me allow me to download images into iPhoto. It will generate thumbnails in Lightroom, but will tell me that it's unable to read the images when I try a complete import. If I switch users on my Mac to a dummy user, I am able to import the same images off my CF card. I didn't changed any settings, at least not intentionally.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI am having a new issue with my Lightoom (4) Suddenly, every time I try to upload photos into Lightroom, I get a "Files Cannot be Read" message. I have never had this problem before. SOmetimes it will upload a few out of the bunch, but not all of them. I have tried to change all my permissions settings to "Read & Write" but am still not having any luck. It seems that it works sometimes, but mostly not.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter importing RAW FIles from my 5D3 into LR4.4 on my (fresh installed) win7 PC it looks like this:
I tried it with the same files on a actual mac and there were no problems at all.
I have a folder of around 6GB worth of photos (all in JPEG format, and all taken using Nikon D7000 on the same day), then when I imported them into LR4.3, only around 100+ were imported. I then tried to import the remaining photos, but an error came out an said "no photos or videos were found to import".
- Windows 8 (64-bit)
- Lightroom 4.3
- 4.0 GB RAM
I have a Seagate external drive and get an import error wen i try to import images from a memory card. I always import to a new sub directory on the drive. The directory gets created properly and I can see the files get coppied to a temp directory in the directory I specified. The files then get removed and the temp directory is deleted but nothing shows up in the primary directory.
I have verified I can import to other external drive, the other two are WD. I can also import to the internal drive.
I have a macbook pro, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
After I've upgraded to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, I begin to see the following issue while trying to import .mts files from my Panasonic GH2 SD cards:
1. LR no longer sees individual files on the SD card. I know that this is because ML has decided to treat all AVCHD-related directories as packages and LR can no longer see the indivisual .mts files from the file system. However, Premier Pro CS6 CAN.
2. Even after copying the .mts files to an unrelated directory, LR is no longer able to import the files. I get the "There is a problem with the video file"
3. The .mts files I previously imported into LR 4.1 with Lion no longer plays inside LR. I see the thumbnail but if I attempt playback I get the "there was an error working with the video" error.
There obviously major compatibility issue with LR 4 and ML in relation to video files. I relies on LR for all my video file cataloging needs - now I am unable to do so. All of this was working just fine with Lion.
I am suddenly having problems importing photos with Lightroom. I get an error message "Some import operations were not performed. The following files were not imported because they could not be read." Doesn't matter what camera I am using. I can open, convert and import the photos with Bridge. I have the Destination dropdown menu set to "All folders." I am using a Mac.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFindin that Lightroom 4 and 4.1 are not importing video/movie files. Without exception every attempt made has resulted in an error.
In many cases just the first frame gets imported and converted to a low grade jpg image.
The same files import cleanly in to Aperture 3.x without difficulty.
I am an amateur photographer. I just purchased a brand new NIKON D3300 took a few pictures, signed up for the Adobe annual Photographers Creative Cloud annual program and my first task to have Lightroom import a few test photos fails and I have no clue why my raw + jpgs can't be imported. at the outset In Lightroom I also got a "Preview unavailable for this file" message for every image file when I pointed to the memory card I had connected to my computer:

I've also attached a screen shot. I would really like to use Lightroom and all the Adobe products but I have no clue why it won't work with my NIKON test pictures.
Just tried to import file sinto a brand new LR Catalog when I got this message...here's the entire error message: "An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed. (98)" Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed
this was then followed by a list of files of these types:
.mov
.m4v
.3gp
i have downloaded the trial version to test ps.when i click save it exits Photoshop..and after about 15 minutes a error comes up and it says "memory could not read"

then all of a sudden today when i try to start it.. it opens and the splash screen comes up, then when it gets to 'initializing palettes' i get an error that says etc etc memory cannot be read...
i uninstalled, ran the cleaner, deleted all cs3 folders in docs&settings.. reinstalled.. same problem ...
IM having a problem with my xara file... it gives me a read error occurred.. i tried to solved it but i failed, although i can see it in preview and no change in file size..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have come to find that there is a small segment in my project that says unable to read string and I have deleted the files in that area to see what was causing this error and it does not seem to be video or music in this area.
Because I move the playback marker to the opposite sides of this area and it seems to work fine but once I delete the files in this area and playback it does the same thing to the files that where on the other side of the files once there as the move in. Is there anything that can be done to fix this because I need this video t convert so that I may send it to my professor by January 1 or I will fail the course.
I recently installed CS4 and when I quit Photoshop CS4 I get a "DDE Server... memory could not be 'read'" error. I've looked all over the forums for solutions to this, tried deleting my preferences file, reinstalling CS4, and fiddling with performance options, but nothing seems to make a change. I never had much trouble with CS2 or CS3.

The error message on my machine is displayed in red on grey for a fraction of a second, and appears to give information as to cause of crash, but is too quick to read. Any way to persuade it to stay on screen long enough to read?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI happily used Gimp 2.4 and 2.6 for quite some time on my laptop.Now I have downloaded and installed Gimp 2.8 it won't open any files for me - when I try to open a file it returns an error message "no disc in the drive" about a disc drive I don't believe I have.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (two weeks later) and the same bug recurred.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past week or so we have had a error. When working in a AI file and trying to save as a PDF we get this error: "Cant save the illustrator file. File may be read only, or the file is in use, or you dont have the required permissions. ID=54". We have to go back to file and re-save every time.
