I just took some images as both RAW and JPEG images thinking I would see them as separate images in LR4. However I see them as a single image with a file name that says RAW + JPEG. They are separate images in my folder but I can't import them as separate images.
View 2 RepliesI have been using LR since version 2 and since upgrading to LR5 I can't find a way to view the jpeg files next to the raw file. in grid view it just shows RAW + JPEG on a single photo but I want to split them so I can see the jpeg type. I changed my preferences to 'treat jpegs as separate files' but what do I do with all the files I already imported and corrected?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOther than the obvious to export images before I edit them, or duplicating and removing all alterations after selecting and editing I don't see an easy way to do this in LightRoom. In Aperture I would select Export Original Photo, and then choose JPEG as format. It appears to me that the only Export Original Photo option in LightRoom will do just that...export a true original - meaning in RAW format. Not useful. I need to export JPEGs of my final selects, both in the edited form, and in the original unedited form as JPEGs.
On another similar note, is there any way to see the switch between the original unedited photo and the edited photo?Meaning true original, pre crop / rotation and all? Love the option to see just the other adjustments, but I often would like to see what my crop has done as well to the image quickly. Aperture had a true "Original Master" viewing capability.
Other than these two things, I am loving the transition to LightRoom!
I need to export an image from my LR4 as an 8 bit .jpeg file. How do I do this as I don't see a way to do this in the export screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLong time photoshop and lightroom user (long time user of all things Adobe). First post here in the forums. I did a search for my question but I think it was too specific, so it returned zero results.
My question is about Lightroom's JPEG export vs Photoshops Image Processor. When I export a RAW file to JPEG from Lightroom, the file size is freaking huge. The JPEG is as big as my original RAW file (~25mb). Settings are set to default - 100 quality. Everything else remains untouched.
However, when I use Photoshop's image processor (I launch it through Bridge, easier that way for me) and process the RAW images that way, my JPEGs are roughly 5-10mb in size. Settings in Image Processor are quality 10 and thats it. No actions being run or anything.
why Lightroom exports JPEGs that are roughly 2-4 times the size of Photoshop's JPEGs? My initial thoughts are that the 100 quality setting in Lightroom is more like Photoshop's quality 12 (that always makes me think of Spinal Tap - "Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?" "These go to eleven.") Ideally, exporting out of Lightroom would be much easier for my workflow.
Is there a plug-in or other step that will allow me to work with JPEG-2000 images using my Elements 2.0 software?

Print to JPEG in LR5.2 produces a corrupt JPEG file that cannot be opened.
Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.
It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow. Could I use each image name as the exported file name?

I'm trying to export a JPEG so that the file size is smaller, for use on the web. So the file I have is 1.1 MB. I try to export via LR4 using the percentage slider, but no matter what percentage I use, the file size is always GREATER than 1.1 MB! And if I try to limit the size by inputing a value, say 1000 kb, I get an error message saying I can't do that for some reason:
Also, this is not the case with just one file, it is numerous files.
I want to shoot tethered in studio, and shoot RAW + JPEG, but I want Lightroom to only import the JPEGS so as to improve the speed. I shoot a Canon 7D.

For example, if I send the image to Photoshop to do any retouches, it creates a copy of the file. When I save the file in Photoshop, I then have two images in the Library module. However, I would like to keep all the history, but when browsing through my images I would only like to see the final image.

So I am making digital color prints at 24x30. the photography work is about color fields and gradients, so I need super high res files. I have set the size to 24000x30000 pix at 1000 dpi..now my problem, when i go to save the gimp file as a jpeg i get this error message "JPEG image plug-in could not save image"

I am using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac version 10.7.5. When I save, I either have to save as a copy of the exisiting image, or replace the image I'm working on. Other forums I've read said to make an action to save and create a function key to make this process faster, but my function keys aren't working, and playing the action I've created still makes a copy of the image.

On the primary screen this can be added/removed or changed in Library Module by selecting the menu view->view options... which gets you to a settings window where you can set what shows. However, I cannot seem to find a similar thing for the second monitor.
I recently got a new laptop with windows 8, it is horrible. Aside from that I was able to install my CS5 , I pinned my 32 bit to the task bar but for some reason whenever I am in bridge and want to open an image (s) it goes to open the 64 bit Photoshop.

By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons). I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP. Whatever I do – pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always to the CS6 version. The same problem for In Design and Illustrator.
I have about a hundred photos in high resolution that I want to reduce to (the same) small image size for a website. How can I do this several (or all) at a time, instead of individually editing each one, using my Photoshop Elements 11 or 12? I cannot find an action for this in the action menu. If not possible within Elements, is there anything "free," or do I have to get Creative Suite or the like?
