I've just encoded a batch of assorted JPGs and raw images with HoudahGeo and updated the files in Lightroom by reading the metadata from the files again. As far as I can tell only the raw images are showing GPS data as a result.
I know the date is there because
(a) I can see it in HoudahGeo if I look at the files again and
(b) Aperture picks up the locations correctly.
I've been using an OCE flatbed scanner to digitise large documents. The software scans and saves the files as .tiffs with an LZW compression.
Using Photoshop CS3, I was able to open the files and correct the pixel ration. But, after trying to open the files with Photoshop CS5, I get an error message reading 'Photoshop can only decode FAX encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide or tall'. Seeing that CS3 opened them with no problem, is there any way to get CS5 to open them? They aren't CCITT compressed, so I'm not exactly sure why the FAX encoded error comes up...
I have many sets of bracket images in which I selected one exposure and made edits.
Now I wish separately to export jpgs resized made from the raw without color changes but still cropped. (just a few are)
Using export as original will export the raw image not the jpg I want.
What I suspect I will have to do as a work a around is to export the originals then create a new temp catlog and reimport them and export as the reized jpgs I want and recrop the few that need it.
I'm new to Lightroom and I would like to add keywords to my jpgs. These have already processed using adobe camera raw. If I add the jpgs to my catalog and then add the keywords, those keywords are not written to the jpgs when I close Lightroom. How do I add the keywords so they are searchable for example using windows search?
I recently had my hard drive replaced by Apple and did a clean install of my programs, no Time Machine.
I have LR 4.3 and CS5. I have always chosen the Edit in PS CS5 option from LR for editing individual RAW files. When I save my photo in PS, I save it as a jpg. Once back in LR, I would have to synchronize the folder in order to import that new jpg and it would show up alongside the original RAW file. Well now, after upgrading to 4.3, synching won't see that new photo that was created. It IS in Finder, but LR doesn't see it.
I have expanded stacks and no filters. Is there anything else I have to do?
If I use Filters/Metadata/File Type, no jpg's appear.
The only way I can see the photo is if I use the Text filter and write .jpg.
How can I get the jpg to show alongside the original RAW file again??
I'm also getting the "File must be saved as a copy"in the PS dialogue, when I save as jpg. Before, it would just save it as the file type is different.
I recently created a new catalog and imported all of my files into Lightroom. All my files seemed to come over, including the .jpg files. I then opened a cr2 file in LR and took it to Photoshop for editing. I saved the psd file and it appeared in my library as I expected. I then did a save as to create 3 different jpg files: filename 4x6.jpg, filename 3x5.jpg and filename 5x7.jpg.
None of these three jpgs came back to LR. So I tried to import them. When I click on the "new" option to import only the new files, these three jpgs do not even show up.
One final note, the box for "treat jpg files next to raw files as seperate files" is checked.how I can get LR to include my jpgs in my library?
I have LR5.3. I've only just noticed this. Not sure if it's been this way for a while or not. When I export from LR and make JPGs as sRGB they are more saturated. Also, when I view in the Web panel the images are more saturated. Is this normal?
I had outsourced some edits, and they sent some back via xmp, and others that were outside LR as JPG. As usual, the xmp files worked great. I had created a subfolder in one of my collections to add the jpg edits, and LR will not allow me to import!
I recently lost my original raw (CR2) files for a set of photos. They were imported and edited in lightroom 4.1. I still have the lightroom catalog but the photo previews are occompanied by the warning "The file name "#####.cr2" is offline or missing". I am aware they are missing, the only version of the photos I still have is the LR preview. Any way to extract the image information in a lightroom preview and save it as a jpg. (Not including doing a screen capture of the preview).
I have a book created (LR4) and cannot get the pages to export as jpg's. I hit the "export book to jpg" button and nothing happens. I am using a Macbook.
I have used LR 4 in the past, and when I wanted to export my RAW files into JPEGS I would go to File>Export. I tried to do the same with LR CC, got the page, however, I couldn't figure out what the page should be set up for so that the jpegs went into the same folder as the RAW files. They went into another folder on my C drive. Or I get an error message:
Unable to Export An internal error has occured; Win32 API error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteEXW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute
How can I do what I want to do, which is to export RAW images to JPEGS?
I have a modest collection [19,500] that has a good number of same images but in different folders; need a way to find these duplicates based on image only [not by metadada, nor by file name, etc.].
Like an image recognotion function that could take a selected JPG and then scan the collection and ID any duplicates and where located.
Chasing these down manually is mission impossible; big issue is that same photo has different name in different folders.
Is there a way to delete the LR metadata from files? I can delete the xmp sidecars using the OS, but I also want to delete all the LR metadata from jpgs, etc . Is there a plugin that will do this, or do I have to use exiftool?
Using LR 3, my finished JPG files, exported from RAW, still show a transparent grey area after image straightening/crop is applied. The problem only occurs once images are uploaded via FTP and viewed in Fotostation software.
When I go to import and look at my photos (previously edited in PSE9 and saved as a jpg on an external hard drive) they look great. But when I import them some of the photos look weird - too bright usually or the colour has gone all funny. I've deleted them out of LR and then tried importing them but it happens again. Only on a certain few. They are jpgs.
What is happening? In finder on the mac they look normal too. under Import on LR4 they look normal. It's just once they are imported.
Today I took some pictures, mostly RAW, but a few JPGs. Lightroom 4.1RC, Windows 7 64bit..When I use the Lens Correction feature on the RAW photos, the proper lens is selected, a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.
When I use the Lens Correction feature on the JPG photos, the proper lens is NOT selected, instead I see it has selected a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 14-24 f/2.8G ED. In fact, next to "Model", I cannot even select the proper lens (the 16-85mm lens) because its not in the list.
I shoot raw + JPG and wish that LR 5 had an option not to import JPG when there is a same-named raw file. Lacking that, are there suggestions perhaps for Windows utilities that would do the following (I am on Win7 64-bit with LR 5.2):
I delete all the JPG images before proceeding. That's easy enough; in Windows Explorer, one can sort by type, then delete all the JPGs, or one could open up a command prompt in the directory and "erase *.jpg". But there's a complication; in some modes of the camera, no raw file is generated. In those cases, I just have one .jpg that I want to keep. Here is an example:
Is there a way to preserve the folder structure of a catalog when exporting JPGs of everything to a new location? I know there is an option to save the export into the same folder as the original file, but i am talking about a completely new location.
LR 4.3, Windows 7. I've started using Snapshots as a convenient way to capture in-process images. But, I can't find a couple things I'm sure HAVE to be in here somewhere...
1. The "generate virtual copies from all the snapshots of this image" button
2. The "export all the snapshots to jpgs or tiffs or whatever" button
I've been using Lightroom 3 for about 6 months and had no problems at all. Recently I took a bunch of photos in JPG format with my Sony Alpha A350, when I went to import them half of the images were darkened and I can't select them for import. I've always used the same camera and not used any advanced features as I'm still a novice.
I have given a disc of photos to a client that she can't access without launching Photoshop on her Mac. They were scanned by me on an Epson as jpgs, then run through Photoshop (CS1) for touch-up and resaved as jpgs by me. Now I look under "get info" and see that they are all saved as "Photoshop Jpgs". this can be a big problem, as I intend to make a lot of discs for clients in the future. I don't want to have to tell them to use "Open with" every time they want to view a photo.
I'm trying to save some web interface work over a background image for my youtube page. One problem I'm having is that I can't save to png because my image ends up being over 1MB. I can't figure out how to get it under.
Everytime I save it, the solid button looks muddy and pixely. PNG ends up being about 3MB so it's too big.
Recently produced an image and saved as a jpg but need to save it as a gif. When saving as a gif some of the data was lost and the image appeared slightly pixilated. Gave the image to a webmaster and he converted the jpg to gif without any loss of quality. Any ideas where I went wrong please? Errr... before anyone asks, no I can't ask webmaster how he did it because he's gone on holiday.
