Illustrator :: Zooming With Mousewheel Is Broken Since 17.1.0 Update
Jan 16, 2014
system is a mac. mouse: standard logitech with mousewheel
before today's update scrooling was normal. each "step" i made with the mousewheel i zoomed in or out. this is broken since the update. i have to do a lot of mousewheel "movement" to start zooming. it therefore feels very inaccurate and random.
I have a problem in Illustrator when navigating around the artboard.
By default, if I want to use zoom function I press Alt key and zoom in or out using the mousewheel. When I am satified with the zoom level I release the Alt button and top navigation is activated. See what I mean in the picture below:
Let's say I have the Type Tool activated and I want to access the Selection Tool by using shortcut the V key. Instead of Selection Tool I get the View drop down menu from the top navigation expanded. Then I have to click away or choose the Selection Tool with the mouse.
This has been bugging me for a while now as it slows the work. Also, I have checked the Preferences trying to change the keyboard and mousewheel combination, but I haven't found it.
I started getting a fatal error just on opening Map3D today. I googled the error message (FATAL ERROR: Unhandled e0434f4dh Exception at 7c812afbh) and a couple things came up about windows updates.
I did get a windows update this morning, so I don't know if it's related to that or not. Anyway, I can't open map now, I just get a fatal error after it loads up. Im using Map3d 2010 on win xp.
Since upgrading to Illustrator CC, my actions haven't been working right. All the details from certain steps are completely gone. For example, if a step involved rotating the selection by 90°, the "Rotate" step will still be there, but there is no longer a disclosure arrow next to it with the value of 90°. Also, the Fkey that was previously bound to the action has been removed.
I have another action that selects all shapes with a similar fill and stroke, and the "Select Similar" step is still there, but again, the disclosure arrow is gone that included the information of "Fill & Stroke". Also, the Fkey associated with that action is gone as well.
When I restore my actions from a saved copy, they are retained from file to file, but once I quit Illustrator and reopen it, the actions break again.
I've installed Illustrator CS6 recently and found the behavior of panning with the scroll wheel annoying. When I have low zoom values (e.g. 75%) the scroll wheel lets me pan U-D, L-R at normal speed, but if I zoom in (200% and up), the panning slows to a point where it is unusable at 600% and up. I use [Shift] to speed it up but at high zoom levels it's not enough. This wasn't the case for Illustrator CS5 or 5.5 where panning with the scroll wheel worked at the same speed at any zoom level.
When Illustrator files are created by my colleague on his PC, he drags and drops images from various folders into his Illustrator document. The file opens fine on our other PC's, but not on our Macs. We always get broken links messages which is horribly cumbersome.
I have an iMac at work with Mountain Lion and Ilustrator CS6, I have files that I have created with Illustrator from scratch but when I bring them home and open them on my iMac at home with the same system the text boxes are broken into individual text boxes for each line of text. What is going on. Also everything in the document is a Clipping Path inside the document bound box.
on my windows 7 machine my freehand import of Illustrator CS5 and CS4 is broken after installing cs6 creative cloud.
I can still select a freehand file to open and the dialog box appears, but after choosing OK nothing happens. No file opens and no error appears. It doesn´t depend on the freehand file because my other machine with CS3 can still open these files.
What can i do to repair illustrator? - it´s part of a master collection install.
I have a series of folders and I have linked art and the files they are linked to all mixed up in these folders. My file structure is as such;
myFilesHH01000-01999HH01000-HH01099HH001001.PDF and now I need to change the file structure to this; myFilesHHHH01000-01999HH01000-HH01099HH001001.PDF adding the folder HH breaks the links.
What is the best way to identify the broken link and change its path with JSX?
resizing objects by changing the width and height values in the Transform window, while keeping the proportions of the object? When I try this in CS6, the proportions of the object gets totally botched.
This is what I do:
1. Draw a straight line that is rotated some 30-40°. 2. Select the line and click in the W: or H: fields in the Transform window. 3. Make sure that the "Constrain Width and Height Proportions" button is selected. 4. Press and hold the up arrow key on the keyboard. 5. Watch how the line is rotated as it is scaled.
I notice that while I'm pressing the up or down keys, the number in the selected width or height field is incremented nicely (21 mm, 22 mm, 23 mm, 24 mm, etc.), but when I release the key, it is adjusted to a seemingly random number (for example 24 mm -> 24.168 mm). If I switch between pressing up and down for some time, the adjustment can be even more random (24 mm -> 58,944 mm).
I recently upgraded from CS3 where this type of scaling worked flawlessly. I'm using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7.5.
I have an action set up from CS6 that simply selects all unused swatches and deletes them. Useful to keep production files clean. However in CC it doesn't work. I have tried re-recording the action, simple enough, but when I run it I get a message telling me, "The object "Swatches" is not currently available." Why is this not working in CC.
My illustrator CS6 selection tool (black mouse icon) is broken. it wont let me move some thing or tranform/scale it any more. Normally i see 4 stroke squares to resize my square but now there are filled square and i cant to nothing.
works fine if the RasterItem source file is where the link points at.In my case, the link points to the local drive of another computer, so the "file" property of the RasterItem doesn't exists !!!I don't understand why, because all the informations are in the Links pannel of illustrator.
I would like to update to 17.1 so I have access to the live corners tool. I can't seem to figure out how to update. I have version 17.0.2--I have gone to the creative cloud to update and it tells me that I am updated. When I look under "about illustrator" the version is 17.0.2. Is there another step that I am not aware of.
I'm at a job where there's three macs using Illus CS5.1 / 15.1.0 / and a couple using CS5. The latest CS5 update I see on the download page is 15.0.2. What gives?
I happened to update Illustrator CC 16/01/14. Which had a comment Bug Fixes. They had some cool updates but also a bug which stopped my work.
Step1: Created an multi-layered vector artwork with gradient fill and stroke. Step 2: Saved as SVG file - Settings Profile: SVG 1.1 Step 3: SVG file is not saved properly hence unable to regenerate - Problem: Artwork Scale and Canvas size has minimised drastically.
Same art is saved perfectly in .ai format.Requirement is SVG format only. How can I revert the previous update. My MBP's Time machine is disabled from the beginning.
Having problems with the pathfinder tools after updating to the latest verstion of CC? I can't seem to unite, divide, or trim paths with the usually predictable results. s there a way to turn live corners off?
I have 17.0.0 and have not been presented with the update yet. Is this normal? Did Adobe pull it? Do they roll out updates only to specific configurations?
I've tried a couple of times (uninstall, reinstall both CC Illustrator and Creative Cloud.) without any success. It downloads only the 17.0.0 version and shows my app up to date. I even tried to download it from the CC website with the same result.
I have just updated Illustrator CC to v17.1 and now it will no longer launch. There is a bouncing icon in the dock for about a second and then no activity, no warnings or errors. My mac is quite old (MacPro5.1 Quad-core running osx 10.6.8) which may well be the problem.Never the less Illustrator 17.0 ran perfectly well prior to the update.
Uninstalling Illustrator 17.1 and reinstalling v17.0 works. If Illustrator is allowed to update as recommended it no longer launches. Is there something in the update that prevents my older spec mac from running it?
I recently update my Illustrator and now I cannot open the software. I have this message : Adobe Illustrator has stopped working. Please enable Versana font(s) and relaunch Illustrator.
I'm using lynda.com "Essentials" to learn the product (CS6).
The tutorial shows you how to accurately line up guidelines by using the Info panel. However for me the info panel "locks" as soon as I select a guideline from the ruler and drag it onto the artboard. It only starts updating when I move my mouse off the guideline - which makes it useless.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug introduced since Adobe CS6 was first released? (I noticed there was an update this morning - 15th May 2012 - which I've applied)
When I drop a swatch color on a gradient, it doesn't link to the swatch color like in a solid fill.Nevermind the UI inconsistency with this behavior, since Adobe probably doesn't care, but how do I get around this?
Creating a Swatch from the gradient is not a solution for me, as I use the same base color in different gradients.
Is it possible to force Illustrator to actively update linked files as they are saved in Photoshop? I'd like to place a PSD into AI, for Live Trace, then edit the PSD and see the updated Live Trace without clicking in Illustrator.
There must be a faster way to updated the current, custom workspace, without having to choose "Save Workspace" and retyping the same name! I constantly tweek my workspace and do not want to save multiple versions, I just want to update the current space.
I'd like to simply hold "option" as I select the current workspace name and have AI update that workspace with my current setup.
