Illustrator :: Delete Crop Mark In AI File?

View 9 RepliesMy job is making PDFs "ready for print" - checking colours, making sure overprint is on where needed, adding trapping where needed, etc. After I'm done doing this, I add a logo outside of the printable area as proof that I have checked the file and it's OK for print and the date. This is always on the same spot: 5mm left from the left edge of the design and 5mm below the lower edge.
Right now, I have to keep the Illustrator file with the logo/date open at all times, go there, copy the image, go back to the design I was working on, paste it and enter the values manually to be sure it's in the right place (and then edit the date, of course).
It's time consuming and I was wondering if there's a way to make Illustrator place the logo and date on a pre-determined location without having to keep the file open. I can't just make an action that "places" the file there because then, I can't edit the date anymore.
How or were to find the crop mark / registration mark tools in x6.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to reuse a old ai file with a linked file and make some modification. But I don't need the linked file in my revised ai file.
how to delete the linked file, so that I need not to click "ignore" button on the pop-up box of reminding me unable to find the linked file when I open the new ai file each time.
How do I delete a missing, unwanted linked file from an AI file? The referenced link is completely gone and is not needed. It can't be relinked or removed since it no longer exists. It is has been a phantom for as long as I have been using the AI file and I would like to clear the "Could not find the linked file" pop up every time I load the AI file.

After I view and then close a file in Illustrator CS6 I can delete the file, but not its containing folder, which stays locked, even after closing Illustrator. Restarting and closing Illustrator again usually enables me to delete the folder — but not always. Sometimes I have to close everything and log out and back in to be able to delete the folder. (BTW, Acrobat and Photoshop also share this problem.)
When you have, as I do, hundreds of files to go through, this becomes a real hassle.
I created some crop preset sizes that I no longer need, but I can't figure out how to remove them from the dropdown list of crop sizes. Reset to Default doesn't refresh the list.

I am using web designer 6 - can send .xar file if necessary - but would prefer to know what tools to use to get this done the photo sits on 2 rectangles with rounded corners (back- purple, foreground is white) so the photo needs to have the same curve as the rectangles.
When i try to delete a file from LR using the delete from disk option the file does not so up in my trash. I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

I need to add an invisible water mark to the file before it goes to publishing. Is there a way to add an invisible copyright water mark to the file with out using metadata? is there any software that can track images on websites?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI think I remember this is possible in Illustrator, that you can make strokes that are for maps, like railroad tracks and the like. I need to make a 'zipper' and even the most simple line with cross perpendicular lines at regular spaces would do the trick for me. It's rather tedious to try to make these on a random direction path, but I need to know, is it possible to make a stroke that does this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am making the hands of a clock with tick marks held in a particular spot with an invisible bounding box. When I export as a png the bounding box disappears and all I have is the tick mark. Maybe a boundindg box isn't the correct description? I have made the hand using the rectangle shape with no fill and no line. The tick mark is contained within this space. But somehow when it is exported using png the invisible containment disappears. I need that to hold my tick mark in place as the hand goes around the clock.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a couple parts that are linked to a jpg file, through Inventor studio. They were set as a reflection image, from what I can tell. However they are now perminantly linked to the part and anything we copy from it. I eliminated the reflection from Inventor studio, but Vault still thinks the link is there. If we delete the jpg files it causes unresolved references and as we all know Inventor will then refuse to work until they are resolved.
Any way to get rid of this link? We can make a new jpg, and resolve it, but not delete it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to crop an image and I cannot find the crop tool in the toolbox within Illustrator CS6. I've heard it exists but can't seem to find it. Is there a way to check to see if maybe it's been hidden within my settings? The only thing I see that resembles it is the Art Board tool.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIllustrator CS3 had a feature that was "trim/crop to artboard" but I cannot find it now in CS6. So now when I save my work, it does not confine the save to the artboard but includes all the art on the file, messing up all the map work I have isolated with the artboard. The only thing close now is the "fit to artboard" which is exactly opposite of what I need and had in CS3.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in CS6 and have an .ai file that I need to first crop to 1200 x 600. I do not know the size / dimensions of the .ai , where can I find?
Inside the artboard I select the Artboard tool and I first need to crop the image to the same size the black dashes are within the red solid line.
I would normally just go to save for web and set the new size there but I need to save this cropped file as a layered pdf. I know hwo to do that but I need to know how to find the current size of the .ai file, then crop it down.
Essentially, I need to crop some work to the artboard. I've read about export option but I need this design to import into Flash. My instructor will not permit anything but vector drawings. I can't export to any sort of raster format or pdf. Ideally, it needs to remain as an ai file. When I do the import from Flash, it keeps everything outside the bounds of the artboard (highlighted in red on my screenshot).
This is a group project. I didn't do this drawing, I just wanted to add the perspective lines to the floor. Now it's a bit of an untidy mess when it goes to Flash. And Illustrator is not my strong point. I did try unsuccessfully to "erase", Scissor, knife and a few other things but I really don't know how those tools work. I also tried the clipping mask approach but it didn't want to combine my rectangle "mask" with the lines on the floor.
I'm using AI CS4 and Flash CS6.
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about, and the second picture is without the "img" layer that I am referencing to make the shapes:
The text layer is labeled "bg" and the shoe and pants layer is labeled "shoe" of course. I am not worried about the "E" because the text behind it adds to the "texture." I just want the shoe to be shown without the underlying text (the ground; "bg") layer. I would like for the text to not be shown beneath the shoe. I've tried all of the Pathfinder options. I could just outline the shoe I suppose and I guess I could do a clipping mask or something, but I don't if that'd work as I'm still a beginner at using Illustrator and I figured maybe there was an easier option.
Is it not counter intuitive to include the crop marks of an object in the transform dimensions. i.e If I create a box 200x200mm and turn on crop marks the new dimension is 238.1x238.1mm. I can understand a stroke affecting the dimensions of an object but crop marks? I'm not feeling it, I have to remove crop marks from the appearance, change size of the object then re-apply crop marks.
