I'm working on a cd package. I have a detailed vector graphic in the design. It looks great in illustrator , but when i save as pdf, i lose a huge amount of clarity.I have dark stroke on it, at .25 in a dark color and the fill is lighter. Should I increase the stroke weight? I know about the feature Recolor artwork but i find that its not doing the job i want. Maybe I am missing something, or it only allows you one color chage a time instead of all colors to a BLUE .

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have sent an image to a printer in eps & Ai format., but he is requesting the the logo be in an outlined vector graphic, And send it to them again in pdf format.
I have re-opened the pdf that I sent them in Illustrator and find the logo is composed of many shapes and when I use the 'direct selection tool' to select any letter within the logo, it shows an outline with many anchor points. These anchor points can be moved or re-shaped using the 're-shape' tool.
Also I can select any shape within the logo & resize and it does not seem to lose any quality at all.
Am I mistaken in thinking that this is already an outlined vector logo or is there more to it?
I'm using CS5 on Mac OSX 10.7.4 and the graphic looks pretty good at 100%, and prints just fine. The design shop is trying to put it on a coffee cup though, and when they scale it down, it looks horrible. Pixelated everywhere.
-antialiasing is on
-resolution is 300 DPI
-align to pixel grid is not checked.

I cannot figure out how to separate a graphic from a a vector file I purchased on Shutter Stock which has a bunch of graphics in the file used for design. The file has layers, and I have tried to select just one of the layers to copy and paste into a new AI file, but it doesn't work. Nothing seems to be grouped together, and I have no idea how to tell if there is a compound path or not.
I need to separate all the images and then resize them as well. Then I want to export to a jpeg file so that I can use in photoshop and/or publisher.
I have a title consisting of a multitude of 3D letters with image overlays, in .ai and .eps formats. I want to bend it along a simple curve. I don't know where to begin, although I know how to create the curve using the Pen tool. After that my guess is that I need to use either the Mesh or Shape Builder tools. However, the Adobe Illustrator User Guide (consisting it would seem of online Help) clarifies nothing regarding the steps of the process. resource and in addition a good text that would step by step explain the process?

I would be able to edit the style to suit my text but struggling to create one from scratch after following write-ups and videos for the last 24hours!
Realise there are easier ways to make drop shadows but I need the drop shadow to be scaleable up to large sizes in a vector format as well as the text

How can I update the saved gallery? If you change module and double click again on the saved gallery icon, the changes are lost.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was quite surprised this image I found was an indexed color profile... when I was new (and dumb) to Gimp and images in general I used to save transparent gifs rather than transparent pngs... because I didn't know PNGs could be transparent but Gimp would warn me about that it would convert to indexed and I'd lose A LOT of color & clarity... none of my indexed images were very clear nor this colorful... how is it possible to obtain such color and clarity in an indexed color profile like in the image attached?

1. When we copy / paste text within illustrator all color information is lost.
2. When we save documents in Illustrator CS6 then re-open text with color attributes changes to different random colors!!
For example: If we save an Illustrator document with a paragraph of text that is part red and part black when we re-open the same paragraph might be all gray, or orange or (you pick a color).

I've found this a most irritating issue already since CS1.I use Pantone colors a lot in my designs and always have the Pantone Solid Coated Color book open in Illustrator. However, no matter how often I save workspace, as soon as I close Illustrator and restart the color book has disappeared from my palette settings and locations. I have to re-open the color book every single time.What is the problem with this? How can all the other windows be saved in the workspace settings and preferences, but not the color books?
And why is this issue not yet addressed, when it's been coming up already since CS1? It's not a computer / preferences file issue.CS1, CS3, CS5 and now CS6 were all installed on a brand new (empty save for operating system) computer.
Is there a way to insert a Ai graphic into msWord and the graphic text still be searchable in msWord? I would like the text in my Ai graphic to be searchable once the graphic is inserted in msWord. I have tried different Ai exports, but all come into msWord as pictures. Is there a way to keep the Text Layer in my Ai file searchable in msWord.

I bought an image from shutterstocks... But when I change a colour, it all turns in monochrome colour. My Ai (CS6) knowledge is very limited, so I do not know what to Google "How to..."
I would say that in a moment I change colour Ai understands that I colour in borders and all lines overlaps each other... However, I do not colour borders...
Image is very complex pattern and I believe it is somehow related with image production... The image does not appear as it looks like - everything is over layered with cut-outs of object above... But it is beyond my knowledge...

I've been creating them in black and white in CS6, then converting to vector via image trace since that's the only way to make them a perfect circular vector that I've found, but how do you convert it to a color afterward? It won't let me simply change the fill color, nor will it let me select the black dots with the white arrow. I had also selected "ignore white" while image tracing so it had a transparent background. ! I'd really like an orange halftone vector, and when I make it a color from the start it creates it out of multiple colors. I want it to be a solid color without any circles overlapping.

I've been messing around with Live trace for a few days, but every time I try to convert it to Vector, it destroys my gradient, and converts my Pantone to CMYK.

View 3 Replies View RelatedURL....I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
I've searched for a way to make a simple, one color image into a vector image. The best thing I've found is a .atn thing fromsPECtre. I've unzipped it but really don't understand photoshop well enough to use it.
I'd like to learn how to actually do it my self. I can easily make the image into a selection, all I need is to make that selection into a solid vector.
How do I do this?

The current size of the illustrator files are 133.3 MB and 24.7 MB I need to provide these at no larger than 450 kb AND the type must be readable and measurable for approval.
I have tried everything I can think of to provide the artwork small enough yet still retaining enough resolution to not make the type fuzzy and not able to be measured for size. I've tried making the files from within illustrator, I've tried taking everything into Photoshop to make the JPEGS with no luck. They want either a gif, jpeg or tiff no larger than 450 kb that is viewable at the print size of the label with no loss of resolution...
If it´s possible to import vector graphic with fountain fills from AI (adobe illustrator) to CorelDraw x6 for further editing.
if i export from AI to eps or ai, and import to x6 the graphic with fountain fills becomes raster, if i export to pdf, the graphic is almost okay, but not as i wish to.
