As of today's update to Illustrator 17.1 it seems that you cannot use the spacebard while in the middle of drawing a shape (a rectangle, circle, etc.) any more. I don't see a preference to turn this back on. This was an incredibly useful feature.

I'm working in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and neither the Distribute Spaces Option nor Distribute Object Option are working.It doesn't seem to matter if it's a print or web document. Doing the same thing to the same document/graphics in CS5.1 works perfectly.
Copypasteing the correctly distributed objects from CS5.1 to CS6 works ok, and if i then repeat the Distribute spaces option nothing changes and it stays correctly distributed. (read: it doesn't badly distribute like before)
How do I fix gradients within an object so that they remain where they are when the object is cut using the intersect paths tool, instead of the gradient fill being redistributed to the new object?
Also, how do I use the colour picker tool to pick a discrete colour within an object filled within a gradient, rather than it selecting the whole gradient swatch?
When I copy/drap an artboard, most of the time a random shape(s) will move around a arbitrarily. Why?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a shape that looks like a pill a rectangle with two circles on the ends, if you will. But it's all one shape. I want a gradient or blend (what exactly is the differnce?) that has a white middle and dark gray edges. The white goes along the pill horizontally but the dark gray is above and below this white "line" but the rounded edges of the pill shape are the dark gray. I'm using CS6.

View 9 Replies View RelatedACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.
Today, all of a sudden, two of my most used functions—holding down the space bar to move the image around and holding down CMD-space bar to zoom—just up and quit on me (I do like the "Scrubby" but it took a little getting used to. It's very touch screen-esque).
I did all of the normal trouble shooting such as deleting the prefs, relaunching, restarting, etc. Nothing. The functions work fine in the other CS5 programs.
I checked through all of the prefs thinking that perhaps I accidentally changed something but I couldn't find anything. If all else fails, I'll do an uninstall/reinstall but only as a last resort.
I did notice that Adobe finally fixed the Distort (in Full Screen Mode) bug that was killing me in CS4.
[URL] Bug is where the Hand move (by holding down Space bar and dragging) stops working. Issue appears to be a conflict with web browsers.
This bug is still present in Photoshop version 12.1 (CS 5). I don't use Firefox, I use Safari and Chrome. Quitting Safari did not fix the problem. Quitting Chrome DID fix the problem.
If I have a dynamic block of a window. I can move either side of the block but the basepoint doesn't move. Is there a way to move the basepoint as well so its not off in space? or just delete it and have it now shown?

I'm working with an illustrator file with several drawing areas. I often need to insert a new drawing area. I then reposition the new area and the content of the old ones by the menu item "arange drawing areas" ("Zeichenflächen neu anordnen") and check the check box "move content with drawing area" (Bildmaterial mit Zeichfläche verschieben"). However, this does not move elements which have been hidden or disabled using the according icons in the layers dialog. How can I achieve this? Actually I would be happy if invisible content would be moved together with its drawing area, since it is somewhat logic that disabled contents are not moved.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble scaling my drawing between model space and paper space. I have it drawn in model space at 1:1, and I set the viewport scale in paperspace to 1:15. However, it does not show up as 1:15. I have drawn a 50' line in model space. The viewport is 4" wide in paperspace, so you should be able to see the whole line in the viewport at a 1:15 scale, with some space on each side. However, it does not. I can only see a small fraction of the line.

View 9 Replies View RelatedPaper space was just introduced the last time I used AutoCAD professionally. I didn't become familiar with it and it seemed like an unfathomable concept then; at least from the way it was explained to me.
So I did some drawing for this guy all in paper space...that was what first opened up in AutoCAD. After five hours and getting ready to send the files, I realize that maybe I should a done it in model space. Is it really going to make that much of a difference? If he wanted me to redo it in model space .
I'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.
What does it mean when Illustrator v.15.1.0 ceases to contract a shape using offset paths and will only expand a shape? Seems like only yesterday I could render both ways. Wait a minute, it was only yesterday! Why would it suddenly stop funtioning?

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit & Radeon graphics card. I have been having trouble with my space bar. This is what I've been doing...
New Layer > Ellipse tool > Draw a cirlce > Duplicate Layer > (reselect) Ellipse tool > select the Subtract Front Shape < this is where I need to use the space bar so that I can center the new circle (inside) so that I have a nice border that's evenly spaced around the entire circumference.
However, when I go to hold down the space bar so that I can use my mouse pad to move the circle around it will not move and the hand icon does not appear. The box that contains the H/height & W/width gains the X & Y information. However, intermittently the hand icon will appear but even when it is present I still cannot move anything. When the hand icon does intermittently appear I have not changed anything.
I have checked to make certain that my mouse pad doesn't have any sort of setting(s) that would prevent the mouse pad action when a key is being pressed ~ at least to the best of my rather newbie experience.
I have read that some have had problems with CS5 regarding this same matter but their issue was resolved simply by closing whatever browser they had open concurrently (with Ps). I tried this but it did not resolve my problem.
I had used the Beta of CS6 and it worked just fine which I find rather odd. I reset the preferences by hitting Shift+Alt+Ctrl and that also did not work. Also, if you don't know how I could go about resolving this issue do you know of an other way in which I would be able to move the circle when the Subtract Front Shape is in use? I have tried making the new circle and then just using the Move tool at the top of the tools bar.
I'm a long time user and fan of Corel Draw; are there any plans to mimic Adobe when you draw and move a primitive in Corel Draw.
I love the feature in the Adobe Suite that lets you start a selection or primitive shape and dynamically move and place the shape as you'reinitially marking out it's width and Height "by holding down the space bar". I find this less constricting as you can begin draw the shape from anywhere on the page and move it anywhere before you commit to the size and placement.
i have been sent some borders that are drawn in model space, i want to move them to ps and save the as template's. i have tried chspace but that does not seem to work. if i start a new drawing and paste the border as a block the scaling is wrong, i can use a vp to display the border in ps and then draw a vp inside the border but don't want to do that really.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an Image in Photoshop CC the image does not appear in my work space. The tab identifies that the image is opened, layers shows the image is open, however it is not on the screen. All tools, brushes etc work, but I can't see what they are doing. I can only see the image if i click the tab and move it around. Once my mouse lets go of the image window it dissapears again. After moving it around and such it gets buggy and the image crashes not Photoshop. i have attached two screen shots of my problem. the second with the image, i have my mouse clicked, held down holding onto the window to acheive this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a LaCie external SSD solely for the purpose of storing my After Effects disk cache. The SSD connects to my MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt.
When I check the info on the SSD, it says it has 254 GB available, so I set the maximum disk cache size in AE to 200 GB, and created a folder on the SSD for the cache. Then I pointed to that folder in AE as the specified disk cache folder.
When I relaunch AE, though, it tells me I don't have enough space in my disk cache folder to accomodate the 200 GB max I set, even though I have 254 GB free on the SSD when I check.
Does this have to do with me creating an empty folder on the SSD to house the cache? Do I have to just use the root folder of the SSD to make use of all the available space?I just found out AE doesn't even let you use the root of a drive as the cache folder, so that can't be the problem..
im using XXP5, i have an irregular polygon or shape which is the space between a curved shapes outline. within this irregular shape, I want to mould the textso it is stretched / destretched to fill the space yet still be readable.
i have tried to convert the text to shapes and then adjust the nodes, but i dont get any nodes making up each letter(!) the mould tool itself doesnt seem to work. the process first involves stretching the font and rotating it to roughly fit it as close as possible.
What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!

When I drew in the view port, it does not show anything of the model space, zero, zip, nada. Tried "Scale to fit", a new view port with no luck. I opened another project file, it work perfectly, just not this one. It doesn't have any Xref's that I can see, but it does have some proxy objects.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've created a bezier shape by setting pen to shape mode, set no fill, set stroke and stroke color. as descibed by posteer "Conroy" in a different thread.
I succedded in following an existing line (in a psd document) making one wavey line much heavier by using a bezier shape that fit it using the above settings.
Now I want to copy and move that shape over another faint line to make it much more visible in the same way.
In the inlined image the heavy wavy line on viewers right is the bezier shape made as described. I want to copy it and paste it over the other wavy line on the viewers left... you can see how faint it is.... I could think of no better way to make them heavier and more visible.
I'm not finding a handy way to copy paste the heavy shape/line. How can that be done.
Is there a better way to do this from the start... that is, make the faint lines in psd document heavier and more visible.
