I have a CMYK AI file with several objects. When I export to 1920x1080 JPG, PNG or PSD...some outlined text is not showing up but it's drop shadow is. Some objects that have transparency gradients are also missing. It is the same if I export to RGB or CMYK. I have to translate the AI first to RGB and then it works but it has never done this to me before. Il CS5.1, Mac OSX 10.7.5

As the title says I am running a AI -> JPG export through the batch action process and my files are saved without an extension. ie. "file" not "ai", "jpg", "png" etc.
However, yes adding the extension manually or through third party software results in a perfect jpg as I required but that step should not be needed. What am I missing?
Oh, and yes I have tried to change the destination folder to something completely empty to avoid duplicate issues but I still get the same result. If I run the simple "Export" portion of my action the file is exported with a file extension without issue, only it fails that step when running the batch process.
(Also i've used photoshop batch process for years so I do have some knowledge that i'm doing this correctly but this is my first attempt with Illustrator.)
I created a drawing, saved it, and days later most lines have dissapear. At preview you can see the drawing is complete, but when you open it is incomplete. Checked the BAK file, same thing, and there are no layers shut down. What can I do to recover my drawing?
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I print to a pdf file using Adobe PDF printer the hatching on my luminaire symbols and the images in the legend are missing.
All are on the same layer as the legend and symbols and appear in the viewport.
It's only when I create the odf that they disappear.
A netwrok group policy has kicked in on my machine (which I have managed to evade for 2 years) and the recently opened items has stopped displaying. The recent items options in Preferences>File handling is also greyed out. The recently opened items in the Start menu>properties is greyed out too. I know its the policy that is the root cause.
The list does not generate at all, even while I am active in the program.
However, Illustrator and Photoshop are still recalling the recently opened files as they normally would. While I know they are all different programs this gives me hope that there is a slim chance I can find a work around? Maybe redirecting where the data is saved or somethign along those lines?
Running CS5.5 Master Collection, Windows 7.just to add there is nothing in the group policy that is specifically directed at Indesign as i am the only person that has it.
I just loaded LR4 on my new mac laptop and in Library mode, The "Folders" and the "Catalog" tabs are missing and in Develop mode, the "Presets" tab and "Snapshots" tab is missing. I deleted the progrm off my laptop completely and reloaded it and the same thing happened. How do I get these tabs back?

View 7 Replies View RelatedTrying to setup my machine at home to match my machine at work. To clear things up, I'm running ACA 2009 on both machines, both are running XP Professional, although I'm running XP Professional at home through VMWare Fusion 4 on my MacBook Pro and I really doubt that could cause these issues since a coworker is having these issues at work on a PC.
First of all when I startup ACA 2009 almost everything is missing! When I go to profiles and load the imperial profile I get the wonderful ribbon, which I immediately use RIBBONCLOSE to turn off but then I don't have any file menus. I have the large A in the upper left corner but it only has File, Edit, and Exit I believe. So I used MENULOAD to get the ACAD.cui back up and then reinserted the install CD to add EXPRESSTOOLS back (...why aren't this included to start....that's for another time).
So now I have a something pretty close to my work machine after moving some properties, xref, and tool palettes around. I don't really use any buttons so it is a pretty minimalist desktop. Now down to the real question...
Where did the Project Browser and Style Managers disappear to? I know, I know, ending in a preposition...I can't think anymore today and Autodesk you are responsible. Is it just me or does Autodesk seem to be hiding more and more from us with each release every year? I can type ProjectBrowser into the command line and it will appear but it isn't under the File menu and more and I honestly couldn't find the Style Manager command prompt so I can't tell you if that works.
How do I get these two items to reappear, neither of the two buttons existing either in the standard ACAD.cui configuration next to Tool Palette, etc
Also, why don't the profiles work anymore? If I save it under profiles and reload it the next time everything is messed up nothing happens, and yes the shortcut I use to start ACA references that profile.
How can I look at a plane in custom view like I used to be able to do? I need to rotate a part to its "straight on" view.
This is from within an inventor drawing. You used to be able to select user work planes and origin planes to change the view to.
I have been unable to select previous folders used for export by selecting them from the usual dropdown menu in the export dialog box. All the folders created by the Choose option since installing LR4 are shown, but the are grayed out an inaccessable. I am unable to locate the Preferences file in my user library (Mac Lion 10.7.3) to delete it to see if that might work.

So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter recently updating to CS6 I have noticed that if I delete an object, say registration marks, I can't undo that action. Undo will work in every other situtation, color change, move, etc. but not if the item was deleted. This is a major problem as I have had to completely close designs and start fresh because an important item was accidentally deleted and I couldn't get it back.

On my dock when I select a path I have the object type, opacity, alignment and dimensions displayed. Is there some way to abrreviate the text menu items ("Stroke", "Opacity", "Character", "Paragraph", "Transform") to "S", "O", "C", "P", and "T", this would save space (working with two windows juxtaposed) and eliminates need to access the drop down menu on the right if working window is smaller.
Perhaps this is too deep for the Preferences to reach... (but maybe it shouldn't be)
First of all, some details as to what we are working on:

Accessing files on a shared network drive
I have been working on a file for a number of months now with no problems at all. Right at the point of it being signed off today I opened it to prep for printing (outline fonts, check colours etc.). When I opened it I noticed a number of the graphics (embedded graphics, not linked files) and areas of text were missing. Completely missing. No text boxes, no sign of any images having been there, just GONE. I closed the file without saving and opened it in CS5 - neither the graphics or the text appeared in CS5 either.
Nobody except myself and the other guy has access to these files (nor the softare to open them). The file has not been opened since June 6th when I last made a change (and everything was fine!).
This is not the only file we have discovered this problem with - there was another occurence of this with a completely different file yesterday which we put down to a small glitch, but this is now getting worrying. Yesterday it was graph items, so we thought it was something to do with those. Today it is bog standard graphics and text (no font issues either).
Now, I have also noticed something else with this particular file - it is acting more like an imported PDF than an original Illy file in that items are linked together (un-linked by right-clicking and selecting 'release clipping mask'). I don't know if this could be related? It was definitely created from scratch in Illustrator, and none of the items were linked in such way, or imported from another file.
Exporting to PNG. reference:[URL] We have multiple layers (some off and locked). I'd like to pass all the selected items to the Image Optimization Action as a group instead of optimizing each one. I am using AIMatchingArt Suite to get the selected items, but it points to an array of AIArtHandles..
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a way to loop thru all items in an Illustrator document and get their stroke and fill color. Sometimes items are spots, sometimes documents are set to RGB or CMYK, etc, so swatches can be a mixture of things. Is there an easy way to get the swatch name for each item?
For example, I can check if an item is a spot, and get it's color like so:
var c = app.activeDocument.pageItems[0];
if (c.strokeColor.typename === 'SpotColor') {
var s = c.strokeColor.spot.name;
}
But if I try to get the name from an item colored 'Black' (which is set to Process Color, CMYK), then I'll need to do something else like:

var s = c.strokeColor.name; // This returns undefined - not sure what I'm doing!!!
}
Is there an easier way to achieve this, other than getting the typename of each item, and then trying to figure out it's color name? I was hoping something like this would work:

I just got CS6, and I'm wondering how I access menu items using Javascript?Also, I'm looking at the CS6 JS reference, and it doesn't say whether app.activeDocument.selection is Read-Only. I am using Adobe Illustrator CS3. When I print to my new LaserJet, documents that are not a full page in size are having the items shifted on the hard copy print out. Specifically, while the font and graphics are not changing in size, all items are shifting to the top of the sheet of paper during printout (i.e. the hard copy does not match what is shown on my screen.)
No Microsoft files are printing improperly, only Acrobat and Illustrator are displaying this issue.
I have a layer that contains two clipping groups (groups with a clip mask and other art). When I call layer.groupItems it returns an empty array. When I call layer.layers it returns the two clipping groups. I need to know if these layers are clipping groups, but if they are coming back as layers how can I figure that out?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a logo that employs a stippled texture (a half-tone) in various sections of objects comprising the logo. I've placed the stipple where I want it, created a clipping path to capture the area. Now I have all these other points that I don't need that I want to delete.
Is there anyway short of releasing the clipping path, manually delete unwanted sections of the stipple and then re-apply the clipping path again? It would be like 'Applying Mask' in photoshop.
I'm trying to remove all hidden page items regardless of how many sublayers they are burried in. I wrote a snippet here that seems to only partly work. It removes all hidden page items unless two hidden items exist right after each other in the stacking order.
