Dec 2, 2013When I try to package a file with a lot of links, the Indesign CC packaging process fails with the error message "Unable to copy necessary file(s)". I am able to make a PDF of the same file, but when packaking the process fails every time. The app does not crash, just gives an error message. What gives?
(I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina Display with 16 GB RAM, running OS 10.9 and all CC 9.1 updated with the latest patches).

Mar 17, 2013My main user folder on the iMac is set to be shared (read/write, including all enclosed files) with my MacBook Pro. The job is a series of one-page InDesign files (they are newspaper advertisements). The IDD files contain a series of Illustrator files with linked PSD files.The idea is that we can both work on the .idd and .ai files in the same folder at the same time.
It's all working fine EXCEPT that whenever an .ai file is opened on the MacBook, Illustrator doesn't know where the linked PSD files are. We can update the link, but when the .ai file is then opened on the iMac and saved, the same thing happens the next time it is opened on the Macbook.
I don't want to embed the PSD files into the .ai files as sometimes I have to modify them and they can be linked to up to 20 .ai files.
G5 iMac OSX 10.7.5 / Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.2 / networked via FireWire cable / file sharing on, laptop user has Administrator status, all files are read/write, permissions include all enclosed files / CS6
Illustrator :: Batch Export Of EPS To BMP Files Creates Extra EPS / AI Files
Dec 20, 2012A simple action.
File>Export>.bmpClose
If I run the action on one file, it works perfect.
If I try to run it as a batch, it creates the bmp files fine.
But it also creates either a .ai file, or two .eps files!
Writing one or two extra files signifiantly shows the process down.
After I run the batch it is not hard to simply delete the extra .eps/ai files of course.
But writing those files seriously slows the process down, and I have about 89,000 more files to go.

Mar 5, 2012Everything is working fine with opening .psd files in photoshop. Everything was fine a few days ago opening .ai files with Illustrator. Now I can't open any .ai files most of the time. My computer will start up Illustrator but no file will load. Occasionally, the files I tried to open will all open and load at once after a reboot. But after the reboot, the files will not open again. I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled, however, this has not fixed the problem. I'm also having trouble exiting out of Illustrator, it won't let me close the program at times. I'm using a Macbook Pro with the Lion OS.

Illustrator :: Linked Files In AI CS4?
Sep 25, 2012When I try 'placing' an image into a AI document, it appears to be embedding the file [be it a psd, tiff, jpeg etc]. Why would it of stopped linking the file?
I spotted this because in my Layers palette it says 'image' or the file name next to the thumbnail, as appose to 'Linked File' like it always has done. And in my Links palette, I've got the odd looking icon [I'm not sure what it is] on the RHS. Why would AI be embedding the placed files all of a sudden, have I clicked something?
Illustrator :: Won't Open Any Files
Dec 29, 2012I've tried everything I can think of, I've reinstalled twice, deleted preferences, removed problematic fonts, installed patches, restarted my computer 3 times... and it just worked yesterday morning. Illustrator will open up fine, but if I try to open anything it freezes up, whether I drag it over the icon, double click, file/open... whichever. I can create a new document, but it freezes if I save it. I know there are a ton of different problems it could potentially be, but I don't know what else you'd need to know to figure out what.. have work to get done for a huge trade show that is fastly approaching. Feb 25, 2014I create a file, save it and can't see it where I saved it. I go back to Ilustrator to resave and it asks if I want to replace the file that's already there. I press OK and go where the file should be and again it's not there. I open InDesign to see if I can access the file from it's "place" dialogue box and I can't see it. I tried renaming the file but Illustrator asks me if I want to replace the file with the one using the name I never used in the first place.
I don't know where I put my files when I save them. I've been doing this for 20 years

Feb 21, 2013I'm trying to make a PDF file of a webpage in Illustrator that the client could view in 100% size.
When I open the PDF in Acrobat it displayed to large and therefor everything looks jagged.
Where is a setting like "document resolution", or similar, that make the size "100%" in illustrator the same in Acrobat?
Illustrator :: Importing DXF Files Into CS6
Jun 5, 2012I have a problem whem importing dxf files into cs6. All texts are aligned to the left.
I have a program that generates dxf and when importing the same file into cs2 the alignment works fine, both to the left, to the right and center.
When i'm creating a design with text in illustrator and exporting as a dxf all text rows are aligned to the left when importing the same file again? That happens in both cs2 and cs6.
I need to get this solved before I leave cs2 and buy cs6.
