How to make custom 3D bevels for CS5? (Elf Shoe)I'm drawing some elf cartoon characters, and I want to create some shoes, basically an elongated 'cookie' type of shape. This one shows the default 'rounded' bevel, but I want it the arc to be angled to give a more rounded top...
I would like to create a trapezoid shape and be able to color it in, just like I'm able to do with the PathItems (e.g. rectangle, ellipse). I would like to be able to do this in Javascript.
I was thinking it might have to do with PathPoints, but Adobe's Scripting Reference Guide does not make it clear.
I've recently picked up Illustrator CS5, when I save a file (or print) as a PostScript file. My aim is to convert the file to a PDF using Distiller and in the Print dialogue box, the PPD field in past versions says something along the lines of Adobe PDF 8.0. In CS5, I do not have the option to select that from the PPD drop down menu (Nor can I find the file to add to the list). Additionally, I can't make a 'custom sized pdf,' only preset paper sizes. I've had to resort to opening my files in CS3 to convert them to PostScript files. I forsee this becoming a problem once I start diving into some of Illustrator CS5's new features.
I get the feeling the program didn't install with an Adobe PDF plug-in and I can't seem to find a substitute online that isn't from 1999 (!). Is there a way to get that plug-in file that my copy of CS3 is using into my CS5?
The circle emblem thing in the back, in it has the rough carved lines running across it. Basically I created a pattern in Illustrator that I would like to try to mimic that stone-carved effect, any steps to do that in PS?
Is there a way to make a custom vector brush smoothly meet at beginning and ending of the stroke, such as with a circle? I'm trying to create smooth circles with a brush and Wacom. I want a brush rather than a mathmatically perfect circle with a perfect stroke weight-thickness, but I don't like how the two beginning and ending join up. i like the slight variations of human imperfections one gets when using a vector brush, but there must be a way to make the joing points look more smooth, rather than an after-thought prgramming fault, right? Is it possible?
The image below shows my attempts to make as smooth a joint as possible, but it still looks too much like it wasn't meant-to-be.
I was wondering how I could duplicate the texture of this gear/star thing? I want to use the same texture for a square shaped frame. I already tryed messing with the bevel and emboss layer style but I didnt get a the matching result that I desired.
My next question is how do I make my own custom bevel and emboss layer style textures?
Is there a way to save a custom artboard setup with a custom document profile in illustrator cs5? I do technical illustrations and our page size is odd (7.19 x 8.96. It the size that our Framemaker layout is set to.). I have a custom document profile that I use, but I use the grids all the time so that my callouts are spaced out evenly around the art. I would like to have a way to set the artboard up so that the grid will align to the center of the artboard everytime I turn them on. Right now they always start from the top left and when I center art in the center of the page, the grid spacing isn't the same on each side of the art. I just want to be able to open my document profile, turn on my grids, have them start from the center, and I can get down to business. As it is now I have to go into my artboard settings and manually adjust the grid to the center. Small annoyance, but it still annoys me. I have tried to save it a few different ways, but nothing has worked. Maybe there just isn't a way.
Can we place a custom menu and commands in Adobe Illustrator and invoke custom actions? The need for us is to call a C# DLL from these menu commands. I see C++ support but none on COM or NET support.

What I'm trying to do is make custom app icons for my (Android) phone. I want them to have a transparent, glassy look to them. Here's a picture of the style I'm talking about:
[URL]......
I found this on a website that supposedly has tutorials for this kind of thing, but I couldn't find anything except a download link, which I found on this part of the site (scroll down until you get to "3D Transparent Glass Text Effect"):
[URL]......
Thing is, the downloaded .zip doesn't seem to contain anything I can use. There's a .pat file, but I get an error every time I try to get GIMP to use it. There's also a .psd file (which I know is technically for Photoshop), but when I open that in GIMP, it's just two layers of a slightly faded black text saying "etc" on a background, all covered up by a big black rectangle.
it is possible to custom clothing for 3D Daz models using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended? I can find tutors on painting models but nothing on making the custom clothing itself, not a texture for other clothing but making my own clothing for DAZ Kids4. I have been using Hexagon to work with clothing but was looking for a photoshop alternative method.
I downloaded autocadlt14 today. I am able to get into the program and go to autocad classic. I can open my drawing from autocad2002 and work with them. When I try to create a custom toolbar in classic it does not save it when I close the program.
I am new in the autodesk customization, I have autocad 2013 and visual studio 2010..I am interested in make a custom ribbon tab, where I can put a button.
I have found some (incomplete) samples to implement a custom ribbon tab, but I dont know how to "insert" my tab into autocad 2013, and how must I load my tab? with a command? or it can load automatically?
I like to make and print custom cards for family and friends. I use a heavy matte finish paper to print on. But the printing is never as vibrant as my screen image, and this includes photos.
Today I tried this and it worked fine. I converted the image to be printed to a 300dpi bitmap, then using the Photo Tool > Enhance menu, I increased the Saturation to the point where the image looked psychedelic. When I printed on the dull finish card stock, the colors looked just right.
Is there a way to make transparency on custom brushes? I had an idea to make custom brush sets similar to those used in photoshop. I know in Photoshop, Custom Brushes are done with opacity maps With white being transparent and black being full color and all the greys in between being different levels of transparent. I've tried doing that with custom brushes mini and I've also tried making the images transparent, but I just cant seem to make it work. I can get either completely solid and completely transparent. But nothing in between...
In lightroom 4 I found a really useful tip where you can alter the file that controls how teh date format part of the import dialogue works - and more importantly it allows you to choose teh folder locations too, so when I import from another camera I can have the folder structure how I like.I know its there and it will just be a case of copying the file I made to the right location.
I am trying to trace my signature using Pen Tool to later appear as a shape in the Custom Shape Options. When I trace all the image, using the free form pen tool, the Define Custom Shape option does not appear.
Is there a way to make a custom palette using the eyedropper tool? I've made a palette from an object, but it has too many colors. I've also made individual color swatches with the dropper, but I can't select them when using the Mesh Tool. Is there a way to make a color palette with the eyedropper tool that will work with the Mesh Tool?
I have made a large amount of custom parts in a systems furniture drawing I am doing. I made the mistake of putting them all on the same layer and am now realizing i need them to be on separate layers. I tried to just make new layers and then assign the new layers to my custom parts. It acts like it does it but then the parts behave as if they were still on the common layer that i originally created them on. Is there a way to get the custom parts to only be linked to the new layer and not act like they are still on the original layer? My other thought was if i made a new layer, then drew my custom symbol again using that layer... could I then somehow tell my custom part to now use this new symbol that is on the new layer instead of the current symbol that is on the bad layer? I am trying to avoid having to completely start over creating all my parts again because there are at least 30 and I had already put in all of the options, atriubtes, part numbers, pricing, etc... and it would be very time consuming to start that over.
