Illustrator :: How To Permanently Replace Myriad With Helvetica

AI CC on MacOS 10.9.x.The default font is Myriad. Surely this is not hard-coded, and can be changed. I want Helvetica instead.
I know about changing the default in existing profiles and creating new profiles with my choice of font. Not enough! I want to change the underlying default, the one that is used when no profile is active.
When is no profile active? Apparently this occurs when I drag a JPG onto the AI program or Dock icon. The import works fine, puts the JPG in a new AI document --which is exactly what I want to do-- but activates no profile.

I am modifying an existing logo for a company. The font used in the original is Helvetica Bold.For ease of explanation, we can assume that the company has not licensed the font at all.
If I purchase Helvetica Bold from linotype: URL....
and make a logo consisting of an logo mark and logotype "IHGMISAHIC, CPL" (scrambled) using the newly purchased Helvetica Bold font.Register the logo to be used on all company stationery and signage, etc.

I’m working with PDF files in illustrator and whenever the file uses Helvetica I have to change the font to Arial. This gets old when working with hundreds of illustrations. How I would go about changing all text that uses Helvetica bold to Arial bold and Helvetica Roman to Arial?
Would I loop through all the text frames and get the value of the font and use that value to change them or is there a more global way to go about this?

I work with PDFs generated in AutoCAD.When opening these files in Illustrator, the default font is always set to Myriad Pro.
How can I substitute my desired font for Myriad when opening EXISTING files, short of copy/pasting into a new file? That workaround is just as time-consuming as resetting the font every time I work on a new document.Illustrator has to be referencing something when defaulting to this font. It seems unbelievable that this setting cannot be altered.

Illustrator CC, Mac OS 10.8.4 : When pasting text formatted with a Paragraph Style, the style drops off and the text converts to Myriad. I am copying and pasting from/into the same file - even into the same text box.

Each time I open Illustrator, I have to open preferences and go through changing everything back to the way I like it and it's getting really old. How can I permanently save these settings? I've read this article: [URL] .... but I think it's for older versions because I couldn't find the Adobe Illustrator Preferences file, and even if I did I wouldn't know what to do with it. I'm on Mac OSX.7. I previously used CS4 and it saved my preferences the first time permanently.

How to change the spell check in Illustrator CC to check spelling using UK English spelling permanently.
So everytime I start a new document or even open an existing document and go Edit- Check Spelling it will check the spelling as UK English not USA English?

Is there a way to permanently delete a color from the layer options? Let me explain. When you open Illustrator or add layers the program seems to randomly select an "edge" color. So when you click on an object the outline is highlighted in that randomly selected color. Now I know that you can double click on the layer and get the layer options pallet and then select what ever color you want. But I have been using AI for over a decade and the straw has finally broke the camels back. If yellow shows up one more time….
I see I can make my own colors but can I delete yellow and half the other colors, from the pallet, for ever?

Returning to Illustrator after not using for a long time.
How can I permanently show paths created for example by the pen tool when I create them with no fill or stroke attributes - for example a set of contours?
If I set the view to outline (control + Y it does this but puts them on a white background meaning I can't see underlying layers.

My work involves importing in new documents and formating them correctly. We have a specific font style that is different than the original font. Illustrator cannot read those fonts, so it defaults to Myriad Pro in the original text size. Since it is changing it from Myriad Pro to Arial, I don't really have a problem with the global change that this would have.
I already have the [Character Styles] options set up for a template, but this does not work on new documents.
We are on Windows 7 with CS6.

I have both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Photoshop CS5 has two Helvetica fonts: one TrueType and one Type 1. The TT version only offers italic and bold italic styles. The T1 font offers the full suite of bold, italic, bold italic (or oblique), and medium (or regular). This seems odd, but it's sufficient. Photoshop CS3, on the same computer, only offers me the Helvetica TT font, with just the two styles mentioned above. Why can't CS3 see the T1 Helvetica? Why does the TT Helvetica only show me two styles? In case it's relevant, I believe the Type 1 version is the only one I deliberately installed, and I recently upgraded to a 2010 version of the font made available by Adobe.

I have a little problem, in that we were trying to match up an existing text called Helvetica, only to find out that it wasn't in the text style box to bring it up to use. As soon as I installed photoshop cs6 Myriad Pro stopped working. This sucks because its my main font choice. The flyer I was working on was built with Myriad pro and now the text layers need to be redone. I see myriad arabic but this is a major inconvenience considering all of my files need to be reformated.
I search my windows 7 font folder for meriad pro and it doesnt show up. I try to reinstall myriad pro and it says its already installed. I got the program "Font Expert" and it does show myriad pro is installed and ready to go. Illustrator CS3 does not let me use Myriad pro now either.

i have a csv file that has 6 columns, PNEZD and a 6th column which is my notes..i type a star in the data collector after my code, make my note, and then find/replace after i export it and replace star with a column..that gives the desired 6th column in excel that my boss wants....problem is he also wants to see that next to the Full Description in Civil 3d 2012...i tried adding a Point File Format with a 6th Column, User Defined, String for type...named the column Notes...but if i go to edit the point there is no 6th column in the Tool Palette.

Is there anyway in JavaScript to replace one swatch with another?
I've seen other posts where similar questions have been asked, but the solution seems to involve iterating over all the pageItems, testing and then changing the fillColor.
All I want to do is delete/replace a specific color. Say replace Yellow with Green.
Is there a way of doing this without recursing through all of the page items?

Basically what is happening is they will create this file in illustrator and then print to pdf, when it gets opened in acrobat it is fine. But when you open the same pdf in illustrator it get rotated and the font is replaced by these crossboxes. It happens from time to time more so I'm told on bigger files. But does not happen when she saves to pdf.

the options given are rarely used the most important one is missing
find and replace paragraph returns indesign does it elegantly, but illustror has been the same for years with obsolete options
how hard it is just to use the same functions that ADOBE indesign, this is a terrible case of incosistency between the two products when claiming total integration to me is an epic fail, i would have fired my employes over this

Is it possible to use a JS script to find/replace artboard names? For example if I have artboards that are currently named 39 and 42...can I use a script to change the name of the art boards to 39E and 42C etc?

So I am trying to replace gps points with a symbol I have created. I have a script using the dynamic content plugin from illustrator which takes and XML file and replaces it with a new one. All linked text/symbol/image links have their paths updated or text content updated.
The problem I have is I have background images which are not dynamic so I need to relink these based on their file path.
We have two shares, an OPI & an FPO, because of the size of backgrounf images we keep the FPO links in whilst artworking.
What I'd like to do is relink all images if they contain FPO in their file path, I'm in CS5.1. I had a look and found CS6 has a .relink method but obviosuly this is no use to me in CS5.1
