View 2 RepliesI try to double click on a file to open in illustrator, which is already open and running in the background and I get this message. Can't open the illustration. There is not enough room for the window. Increase document area and try again. The window was full screen, but after clicking off this error message it is tiny. I am using CS6 and have been for about a year and this has just started happening.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cant seem to get art work that I have created to open in illustrator by double clicking. I have to either tell it to open with or to drag it to the program.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but suddenly my Type Tool can not select type by double clicking or click and drag any more.

I'm using Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) on a MacPro with OSX 10.6.8.
i double click my layer (its a text) and it just select the text and the window doesnt appear what do i have to do
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to select the whole gradient that I have created on its own layer. So I cmd-click (Mac) on the layer's icon. But after doing this not the whole gradient is selected but only the darkest part of it!
With every other layer it worked so far... But not with gradients...
I seem to have lost the functionallity of double-clicking on an image placed in CDR X5 to automatically edit in Photopaint. The checkbox in tools/options/edit is checked and photopaint can certainly be opened in the Application Launcher but double-click does nothing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, when I go to the pull down menu and click "Save As", instead of the window opening where I can physically choose where I want to save or save over, I get the file directory in the command line. I even typed in the folder directory and it still doesn't save it there. Why the sudden change?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use quite often the right click in the window to select a layer, which works great. But sometimes this feature stops working as the menu does not come up with the layers below the mouse. First I thought it was the mouse but rightclicking in any other part of the screen (such as the border around the document or the panels works fine.
Is this a setting I need to make or is it a different problem such as lack of memory or what?
The problem I am having is that every single file I open looks like this. Once I click transform (which I have to) the layer no longer allows me to click and edit the layer. I like to re-size my images in relation to the multiple images I place on a document. My previous version of photoshop did not create a transform box with each new file. How can I adjust photoshop so that it doesn't do this. I am using CS5 on a PC.
View 1 Replies View Related've recently noticed something uncommon when working with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS X 10.8.x.When I naturally tried to select a Layer by the [ Command + Click ] (let's say) shortcut, it failed. This little thing was driving me nuts, and I know it must be getting some people hairless, too.
Anyway(s), by looking another read-only thread, I noticed the problem has not been solved and some pretty lame recommendations were given. By try, I finally found the solution and was able to fix this little annoyance that maybe we've all been through. downgrading to 5.5 again like I was considering:
Â
1) In Photoshop, make sure the Move Tool is selected by pressing "V";
2) In the tool's submenu, forget about selecting/marking "Auto-Select".
3) Although, make sure "Layer" is selected right next to the "Auto-Select" button, and you should be done as I am.
In PS CS1 i used to be able to hold Control and click a layer to make the contents of that layer a selection but that don't appear to work in CS2.
View 2 Replies View Relatedjust starting using cs2 v9.0 and found out that the usual layer selecting by pressing ctrl and clicking on the layer did not work. it really drive me crazy. and why they change the linked layer feature, there are no longer little box to linked layers anymore.
ctrl+click thing
Basically, when I go to view the layer mask by holding alt and clicking on the layer mask it doesn't function. Along with this problem, when I go to toggle my adjustment layers on and off, by holding alt and clicking on the eye symbol next to the background layer... again this doesn't work.

Im not sure if I have accidently clicked on something that has disabled these functions or its just a bug.
This function is working properly in os x, however on windows when I right click within the canvas I only get a list of all the layers under the mouse, historically since as far back as I can remember since photoshop had layers (rev 3.0 in 1995?) when you right click in windows within the canvas, you get a list of all the layers under your mouse, with the uppermost layer highlighted for easy identification and location of the contents of your layers. I've run all patches and updates and have even uninstalled/re-installed CS6.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am doing a Total Training class on CS4 PhotoShop. In the section on Learning about Layers I have opened two jpg files.
I double-clicked on the Background Layer of the Statue jpg and changed the name to Statue. All worked okay.
I then selected the unwanted Background area and deleted it.
I then moved the Clouds jpg which created a new Layer. When I double-clicked to change the Layer name to Clouds, the Layer box did not open but the Layer Style box opened.
I was only able to change the name of the Layer via the Layer Properties box.
Hi guys, I have been using CS2 since its release but I didn’t discover this small nuance until yesterday, and needless to say it unnerved me quite a bit. In PS7 I used to use a trick to achieve a certain effect in some of my designs, making a pattern or single-color image on one layer, ctrl-clicking that layer to make it a selection, and then using that selection to delete other parts of my image. I liked this method as it allowed for me to save the particular selection, and always have that layer available to go back to in case of future use. Since I haven’t done graphic work in a while (mostly digital painting at the moment) I didn’t realize this change was made, either that, or I don’t know how to achieve a similar ends using CS2 that I did with PS7. If anyone understands what I’m asking, and can offer a bit of assistance it would be much appreciated, I am doing a menu layout and design for a local day-spa and I was hoping to do something interesting with their preexisting logo.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs this possible to do? The mask is arranged infront of the layer I would like to click on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I make a selection using CTRL+Click it never fully matches the cutout of the layer I am mimicking. There is always trim. I've posted a picture to best describe what is happening.Â
Fig A.
I've made a cutout using the background eraser. Because of this you can see how the cutout appears to be somewhat transparent around the edge.
Â
Fig B.Â
When placed on 50% gray the hair trim is as detailed as I wanted. It's a satisfying result.
Â
Fig C.Â
I now make a selected of this semi transparent cutout by cimply CTRL+Clicking the layer.Â
Â
Fig D.
I now duplicate the original (not cutout) and use this selection to cutout again (don't ask why) but the cutout doesn't match 100%. It's close, but it simply doesn't match. I've also tried using this selection to make a mask on the non cutout image and the edge is exactly the same.
Â
I thought some auto anti-alias may be turned on but I can't seem to find anything. I really need a duplicate of this cutout to match precisely.
When I have more than one PSD open, and go to any layer with a layer effect (i.e. drop shadow) and try to alt + click that layer and drag it to another layer, Photoshop switches me to the other open PSD instead of dragging the effect and applying it to the layer.
Â
The alt key is not broken since I can clone something on the canvas using alt + click.
im using LT2010, with the autocad classic menu, if i click on a line the layer toolbar is not displaying the layer name of that line, it seems stuck on the current 'set' layer. also right click edit has stopped working and i cant seem to reset it via, tools/options/user prefs.
if i click onto the 2D drafting workspace, the layer problem above doesnt occur but the right click edit still doesnt work.
Odd behavior in released x64 version of CS6 for Windows: on my laptop (ASUS G73S with 1.5 gb nVidia GeForce video), when I crop an image, the drop-down menus in a curves adjustment layer become unclickable.
But I can still access the RGB channels using the Alt + 3, 4 and 5 shortcuts. This behavior doesn't occur on my workstation, and if I don't crop the image, the drop-down menus work fine. I have the crop tool set to delete pixels. Also, if I apply curves directly (not with an adjustment layer), the dialog box works OK. And the other adjustment layers seem to be working, too. It's only the curves layer that's doing this.
I have a problem with my layer controls. When I open a DWG-file I need to go to my layer properties manager and select "All" layers to be able to select a specific layer in my dwg.
It is pretty annoying when you need to open layer properties manager every time you open a dwg and select "All" just to be able to select a specific layer.
Is there any default settings that I have to change so it's selected "All" by default?
I am using CS4. I would like to make a 2-layered file, where the bottom layer is blank and the top layer is white and has an opening (say, heart-shaped) with feathered edges. I have tried so many ways, and can't make this happen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen opening a photo in CS-5, all I get is a blank layer. Navigator shows the photo that I opened.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to automate opening a document and inserting a new layer in it. Inserting the layer and opening the document is quite easy, but doing both is proving to be quite difficult.
Here is the Code that I am working with. The code for creating the layer works fine in an already opened document. It seems that autocad cannot find the opened file.Â
Sub Open_and_new_layer()Application.Documents.Open ("C:UsersPatrickDesktopAutocad program66986691_BL_01.dwg")Dim strLayer As StringstrLayer = "BOM"Dim layCurrent As AcadLayerOn Error Resume NextSet layCurrent = ThisDrawing.Layers(strLayer)If layCurrent Is Nothing ThenSet layCurrent = ThisDrawing.Layers.Add(strLayer)If layCurrent Is Nothing ThenMsgBox "Error creating layer " & strLayer & "."Exit SubEnd IfEnd IfThisDrawing.ActiveLayer = layCurrentEnd Sub
I can't right click objects on the artboard in Illustrator CS6. For example if I want to break the link to an object I can't. I use a Wacom tablet and suspected that there is a problem with the pen. But the same thing happens if I use the trackpad on my MacBook.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator i can not right click on any of the icons on the left, like the rectangle shape to change it. I have downloaded it and reinstalled it to limt it that out. I am not sure. Is there a setting or something?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen you open, let's say a PNG file, it creates a default locked Background layer, fine, now edit it, turn it into Layer 0 for example, and save, again as PNG, ...the next time you open that file, you'll get your Layer 0 and not a Background layer, I definitely need to get rid off that behavior, I need that Background Layer to be there! PNG isn't a PSD or TIFF, why is Photoshop saving Layer infos? and where? in the PNG? in a Cache ? I tried a bit of things to retrieve that "Background layer" when opening but PS CS5 still stores that info somewhere...
Â
What I want is to prevent Photoshop doing that. That is, the next time I'm re-opening a file that is not supposed to have layers (like a PSD or TIFF), it opens it with "Background Layer" ! and not Layer 0 if I already opened it / edited / saved in Photoshop.
I just began having problems with Photoshop today. I wanted to apply Blending Options to a layer. The Layer Style window opened but it was nowhere to be found! Because I could not access this window to either perform a task or close it, I had to Control/Alt/Delete because nothing else in the program would work. Obviously, it was waiting for a response to the window but as I couldn't see it, I couldn't access it. I've never had this problem before and I've just spent four hours trying to find the problem, including messing with screen resolutions and monitor designations (I use a laptop with a flat screen as #2 monitor). Can someone please help me!!Thanks, in advance, for your advice.
