View 5 RepliesIs there some kind of script that copy text box attributes (X, Y, W, H) and contents (text) and apply the to new text box?
that is the steps to do this procsses
1- create new text box
2- copy the width attribute and apply it on the new text box, I repeat this with with X, Y, Hight attributes.
3- copy the content to the new box
4- delete the old text box
We have an animal character mesh for the body and head together, there's not a good place to separate the head for blendshapes without showing an obvious seam.
Is there a way to just copy over the polygons for only the head to model into blendshapes? I don't want the entire mesh to copy over for blendshapes - I'm concerned that making so many blendshapes from the entire mesh would take up a lot of memory and resources.
In InDesign you are able to create links from one page of a document to another. They are called hyperlinks on that program. However, it seems that all the forums talking about using hyperlinks in Illustrator are speaking of using URLs to an online site. I was wondering if there was a way to create a link from one art board to the another with a clickable function.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen exporting a PDF with hyperlinked slices from Illustrator, i choose the Rich Content PDF option. but when i open the PDF with Acrobat or Preview (i'm on a Mac), the hyperlinks are gone.

Is it possible do to this in Illustrator?
I have create an excel file with a description and a hyperlink.With this way the user is able to open all the file that was able to open in only one excel.So far everything is OK.My problem is this. Have added 3 new lines for 3 different adobe illustrator files.When the user makes a click in the hyperlink open the adobe illustrator but is empty.They don't opening the file that has added in the hyperlink. (It happens only in the .ai files all the other files .pdf - .doc - .jpg opening without any problem)

View 23 Replies View RelatedI am building a compass rose by using the star tool with 4 points and adding straignt lines from the end points to the corresponding end point. Ultimately, I'll replicate the whole image with some scaling, copy it 3 times, and rotate each 22.5 degrees to create the final rose.
I want give some 3D effects by shading half of each point on the star but it's actually a polygon (the star) with a straight lines splitting the points. To shade I need to have the star actually be 8 triangles that I can fill (4 of them).
Other than tracing to create one of the triangles (and then do some replacation and transforms to locate) is there another way to convert to star polygon and the straight lines into the triangles?

My entire office has been experiencing drawing crashes as a result of moving or copying certain blocks within a dwg. The problem seems to occur only while executing a Move or Copy command on a block with attributes, and zooming or panning while doing so. My heart sinks instantly because the block will disappear when placed, and I know I am doomed to crash.
I am usually able to pan or zoom a few times, and if I act quickly a Save will work before the drawing then crashes. We have recently switched from 2011 to Civil 3D 2013, and the problem still persists. The two culprits are our slope arrow block as well as hex call-out. Both blocks contain attributes and are frequently used through out our drawings, and this problem proves to be most frustrating when pressed for a deadline.
Some polygons of one vector layer do overprint and some not. Do you know what can be a cause ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I downloaded Ai cs2 the other day. Whenever I come to drawing polygons with the pen tool I set the fill to a colour and the stroke to none(/) just so i can produce block colour shapes without an outline. However When ive come to do it on cs2 the pen tool only lets me draw thin black lines.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Ai CS5, and I was wondering how can I use fill for a country without creating polygons.
For example I have a map in Ai and then I outline it in pen. Now how can I fill each state without having to trace each individual state in pen..because when I do this the state lines overlap and look bad. Like if I trace Washington and Oregon, the borders overlap unless I just trace the border line once in pen...but then I cannot fill the states because they are not separate polygons but a continuous line.How can I fill the states if they are not selectable polygons??
Or how can I make the states selectable polygons without having the borders overlap and look messy?
I have a logo made up of multiple (5) polygons. I see how to use one of the polygons to create a clipping mask but haven't been able to figure out whether (and how) to use all 5.
Can you use multiple polygons as a clipping mask? Or any other method to produce the same effect?
When I copy a vector shape from one layer to another, the shape picks up the color attributes of an existing shape in the second layer (or sometimes only the outline of the shape appears). What to I do to avoid this from happening (I just just want to paste the shape in its original form and color)?
View 10 Replies View RelatedOur department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for call outs on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability).
Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use call out boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each call out box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for call outs, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?
I'm working on setting up a process where I can bring AutoCAD drawings into GIS. I need to assign an attribute to a Polyline or Line so that the attributes can be viewed in GIS. I've noticed there is a way to convert AutoCAD to a SHP or SDP however I'm not familiar with this process.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom the attached image you can see what I'm talking about.
(left=original, middle=ROTATE, right=PROPERTIES)
When I rotate blocks using ROTATE command everything is fine, but when I rotate blocks using PROPERTIES my attributes get messed.
I need to rotate several blocks at once with PROPERTIES, because I don't have time to rotate each one separately.
The same thing happens when scaling blocks, but this was resolved using the command BSCALE in the command line.
How can I determine if a placed image is scaled, and by what percentage?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWith Eyedropper Tool click unselected Source Object, (which has 1 fill and 2 stroke attributes) the Eyedropper Tool stem detects Source Object's attributes...then, pressing Option key, click on Destination Object (which contains a default fill and stroke).The Destination Object only receives the base fill and stroke of the Source Object... it should receive all the attributes of the Source Object.

Illustrator CS6, 16.04
OSX 10.8.2
iMac 3.4Ghz
32 GB Ram
Illustrator Version CS3-CC
Preferred scripting: Visual Basic (VBScript)
In the Adobe Illustrator CS5 Scripting Reference (VBScript), I see the following code for setting character attributes.
iCount = textRef.Characters.Count
i = 1
Dim charRef
Do While (i < (iCount + 1))
dSize = dSize * 1.1
textRef.TextRange.Characters(i).CharacterAttributes.HorizontalScale = dSize
textRef.TextRange.Characters(i).CharacterAttributes.VerticalScale = dSize
i = i + 1
Loop
Is there a way to set character attributes on a range of characters at once?
Iterating through the characters one by one is really slow, especially in higher versions of Illustrator (like CS6).
I want to be able to set character attributes, for example, from the third character to the sixth character of a paragraph textrange.
Basically, I want to do something like itembyrange in InDesign scripting.
i wish to keep using the pencil tool with a personal line stroke style (width and profile), so i can draw using the same line style, i am not able because each time I do a path i loose my style setting to the standard. Is there a way to keep the selected attributes once i do more than one path?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I use a numeric scale from the scale dialog box, Illustrator will not scale the the strokes and patterns attibutes applied to the layer via a graphic style. Has this always been the case, or is this a new CC feature? You know the ones that keep popping up as I'm trying to get my work done. I have to calculate the scale of all my patterns and strokes MANUALLY?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to insert hyperlinks to a file I have.
I use the command 'hyperlink' I select the object and the program crashes and is 'not responding'
Now the tricky is that this happens both in Autocad Map 2010 and 2013. And happens also in files I already have hyperlinks and new ones. If I run the software as an administrator in my pc, the command works excellent.
I insert hyperlinks in the files for many years and till now everything worked fine.
I have created a webpage template for my website. It is in a big .JPG format.
There are text topics also in the .JPG format.
For example, text such as "Home", "Gallery", "Help" listed at the very top of the page. But everything is in one .JPG file (not separated individual)
How can I create the links to connect to the text on my page? I mean it is doable if the each text is created individually, then I can simply use <A href=...> html tag to make the image clickable.
Now everything is in one piece. How can I do this? Do I need to install software to achieve this?
trying to create a footer for my website and i wish to hyperlink the email address, is this possible within the image?
