Illustrator :: Copy Excel Chart To CS6

Oct 6, 2012

Copying an excel chart (2010 and/or 2013, Windows 7 Ultimate) to Illustrator CS6 works okay if line chart lines are solid... but if they are dotted, then in Excel 2010, the dotted line becomes jumbled, and in Excel 2013, the dotted line converts to a solid line... is the only solution to this to save the excel chart as a pdf, or is there another workaround?

Essentially, I am creating a chart in excel and adding a few notations and graphic elements in illustrator for professional publishing..

Illustrator :: How To Get Chart From Excel 2010 In CS5 As Vector

Dec 20, 2012

I have some trouble with copy/paste charts from Excel 2010 into Illustrator CS5. I can move things around, but I can not change the colours in Illustrator. The chart is shown as a picture graphic, not a vector in Illustrator. Also when I save the Excel chart in a PDF and try to open it in Illustrator CS5 it is still a picture, not a vector graphic. Where is the bug? (I am using Windows 7.)

Illustrator :: How To Export Excel Chart Into AI Vector Format

Feb 6, 2014

I have an MS Word 2011 document with an Excel pie chart embedded.Double-clicking the pie chart will open it in Excel 2011.Copying/pasting the chart into Illustrator CS6 results in an uneditable bit image.

Previously, with Word 2008 and Illustrator CS2, this worked perfectly. Mind you, I had tons of excess empty paths and such to scrape out, but still, after a couple of minutes' scraping, I had an editable .ai file ready to be cleaned up, captions typeset, and colors edited for export to .eps and placement in InDesign

In fact, right now I've had to jump over to my old iBook G4 to open my old copies of Word 2008 and Illustrator CS2 in order to do this so I can get this job out the door.Is there any way at all that I can get an Excel 2011 pie chart into Illustrator CS6 as a vector image?

I've tried the shift-click on "Copy Picture" method, but the pie chart still appears as a bit image, and the text is turned to gibberish. Saving the chart as a pdf returns the same results.

At this point in the project, asking for the raw data set and regenerating the pies in Illustrator isn't an option -- and besides, I've had to do that before. Oh, the pain.

Illustrator :: Copying Chart From Excel - Unknown Shading Type Was Encountered

Sep 11, 2012

The calibri font used for graphs in Excel are not recognized when the graphs are copied into Adobe Illustrator. Other than changing the font to arial or another font. I upgraded from CS4 to CS6 on my mac and I still get the same error, "An unknown shading type was encountered," and the letters in the chart get substituted with jumbled symbols. I've tried copy the chart directly from excel to illustrator as well as saving it as a pdf or postcript file and then opening in illustrator. But neither approach works.

A friend managed to open the chart in Illustrator (CS5 on a mac) which gave the prompt that it cannot read the font and that it will display it as outlines. This worked and the text was displayed properly. But for some reason I never received this promopt whether using illustrator from CS4 or CS6.

Illustrator :: Minus Front Won't Work Over Pie Chart

Oct 16, 2012

I use minus front all the time... well, I'm trying to make a pie chart with just the outside (see example). The logical way to do this to me is the make the pie chart, put an ellipse over everything and "minus front" it using the pathfinder tool. Well, I did this, and even though "minus front" is an available option--I can even click it--nothing happens when I click it. Even when I isolate each wedge of the pie chart, I cannot get any part of it to clip using "minus front."

I know I could draw out a bunch of boxes, fill them with the swatch colors, and manually look up and type in the hex values for each. But this would take a LONG time, as there are a number of color variations.

AutoCAD .NET :: Copy From Excel To Clipboard?

Oct 29, 2012

I am working on a project which up until recently used Excel VBA and AutoCAD. To the point, one of the important things this process did was grab a range of cells in the Excel file and copy them to the clipboard. This range of cells was a nicely formatted table with borders, cell filled colors, etc... and the VBA code would copy it to the clipboard before laumching AutoCAD. Once AutoCAD was opened a LISP program would automatically paste this into the model space. It made a lovely OLE object in AutoCAD with crisp, clear appearance.

We are now trying to do away with the VBA part in favor of .NET. I am really at a loss to explain why the code I used before will not work, nor will anything else I try:

VBA CODE
Sheets("Sheet2").SelectRange("B1:K93").Copy

VB.NET CODE

vExcelRange1 - vExcelSheet2.Range("B1:K93")vExcelRange1.Copy()

The .NET code is not working at al.

AutoCad :: Copy From Excel To Table (without Using DataLink)

Jul 9, 2012

I have a table in Excel (well several tables actually) that I want to copy the contents from and insert into an AutoCad table. I don't want it as an OLE object (as I need to be able to edit it in AutoCad later if needed) and I don't want it as a datalink either, so what is the best way to do this?

I was trying to just copy the cells although kept getting all cells ending up in each row/column. I believe it is possible somehow as I am sure I have done it multiple times before although can't work out how to do it now.

Illustrator Scripting :: Pie Chart Slices Sizes Wrong Using Visual Basic Script

Jan 25, 2012

We have a Visual Basic Script that creates pie charts using Adobe Illustrator along with an internally created app called Chart Generator. An xml file that contains a markup for a set of pie charts is imported into Chart generator and by using Illustrator it generates all of the pie charts and saves them as individual eps files.

It was recently discovered that not all of the pie slices are proportioning correctly. In some cases a slice that is 10% of the pie appears larger than a slice that is 13% of the pie. We can’t determine a pattern that might be causing this issue. We think that the problem is in the Visual Basic coding.

But now I want to change it a little bit, and it's not something I can just do from the table style. So I want to copy it into Excel...and when I try to, hitting paste in Excel ends up just giving me this block image version of the table in Excel. AutoCad :: Saving Part As Copy That Uses Excel Spreadsheet (Inventor)

May 12, 2012

I created a spreadsheet of about 40 rows to be used to create different parts. I then created a part "we'll call it Board_A". I linked to the spreadsheet and used 3 of the fields for my dimensions. Lets say I named the length (which was the extrusion number) as "Len_1". I saved it and all is well!! I then created other parts and used the spreadsheet for the dims. I then went back and opened "Board_A" and saved a copy as "Board_B". I closed Board_A and opened Board_B. I then rt clicked on "Extrusion" so I could change the length from "Len_1" to "Len_1_A" which is another row (field) on that same spreadsheet which is still linked. When I tried I received a message that said I couldn't do that (I forgot the actual message!) I clicked the Parameter icon and the only fields showing on the popup spreadsheet box were the ones I had previously used for those parts that I made from scratch. I thought I figured this out once but if I did I forgot. I deleted the spreadsheet link and then re-added it but nothing I have tried has worked. Is there a way to get these fields to be usable with a Copy of an existing part or do I just have to start from scratch and make the similar part?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 :: Parts Of The Text Disappear When Copy / Paste From Excel?

Nov 28, 2011

For some time I was using CorelDraw 12 with Windows XP and Excel 2007.I normally make some tables in Excel which I copy and paste into Corel using "Paste special"/Picture/Enhanced Metafile. In Windows XP there was no problem. Since I switched to Windows 7, I have the following problems:

- The font Wingdings 3 comes out as Arial.

- The second problem is a very strange thing: Some characters, such as ,-"; , always at the END of the line, just dissapear. It happens sometimes, not always, and I can't see absolutely no logic in it: I copy the same thing, paste it several times, and sometimes the comma comes out, sometimes not. I remember that this happened to me ONCE, long time ago, when I was still using XP, but then I restarted Corel and it stopped making problems. But now, with Windows 7, it happens almost all the time. I tried it on a few different PCs and I even tried it with Corel X4. Always the same problem.

Illustrator :: Can't Edit Graph Value Axis When There Are Multiple Graph Types In One Chart

May 30, 2013

Illustrator can make graphs with lines and bars / columns, for example from the docs: [URL] .....

However, when I create a graph like this, I seem to lose the ability to manually set the value axis using "override calculated values".

To reproduce this problem: Create a graph like the example, with bars and an axis on the left, lines and an axis on the right. Unlike the example, don't fix the numbers so the lines match up neatly - have one side go up to just under 20, one up to just under 250, so there are mismatched markers and numbers of divisions on each side.Try to make the markers and numbers of divisions match up, so the side that goes up to 20 actually goes up to 25 and has the same number of divisions as the other side.Everything I've tried doesn't work:

If I select the whole graph and go to 'Graph Type', I can't set Value Axis options. In earlier versions it's greyed out, in CS6 I can access it but clicking 'Okay' does nothing. If I select the whole graph and chose one graph type, I can set the Value Axis options, but that selected graph type then applies to the whole chart,If I use the Group Selection tool to select one of the series, and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select all series that share an axis and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options still has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select the axis ticks group itself, or the axis line and axis ticks groups themselves, or the axis labels, axis line and axis ticks, or the axis labels, axis line, axis ticks and associated data series, etc, changing the Value Axis options also has no effect

It seems like this feature is broken and it seems like the example in the manual was carefully chosen to use a rare combination of numbers where it would actually look right.
