Feb 11, 2014I am trying to bold a font. The font has an astrick next to it ***** and I cannot get the font to change from regular to bold or extra bold.

Illustrator :: Omens Regular Font Converted To Chinese Font
Sep 24, 2013After opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.

It will show the preview of the change, but when I select it, the display goes back to the vanilla version.

If I purchase Helvetica Bold from linotype: URL....
and make a logo consisting of an logo mark and logotype "IHGMISAHIC, CPL" (scrambled) using the newly purchased Helvetica Bold font.Register the logo to be used on all company stationery and signage, etc.

But the weird thing is that all the text is from the same style, none of the text is bold and they are all the same size. So why are some bold and some not? May 8, 2012I have both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Photoshop CS5 has two Helvetica fonts: one TrueType and one Type 1. The TT version only offers italic and bold italic styles. The T1 font offers the full suite of bold, italic, bold italic (or oblique), and medium (or regular). This seems odd, but it's sufficient. Photoshop CS3, on the same computer, only offers me the Helvetica TT font, with just the two styles mentioned above. Why can't CS3 see the T1 Helvetica? Why does the TT Helvetica only show me two styles? In case it's relevant, I believe the Type 1 version is the only one I deliberately installed, and I recently upgraded to a 2010 version of the font made available by Adobe.

Sep 28, 2012I'm on MAC OS 10.7.4, I'm using CS6 and I want to change the substitution font. But I don't want to do it manually to each line of text.. I have 2000 single page pdf files that use gotham font and I need to change 1 word. I do have gotham font by on my computer it's called gotham-htf. Same thing really.. but illustrator changes all the layout to myriad, and breaks it into 300 mini lines of text per file. I don't want to manually rechange everything 2000 times.
There's gotta be a way to set the default substitution font no?
Illustrator :: Unable To Change Default Font?
Feb 3, 2013I open an older document from an unknown source. A warning pops up that I have no substitute for the font, which is Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H. I go to the "change font" window but am unable to substitute this font for the one on my system, which is Adobe Helvetica. If I try change the character style options default, it defaults right back to Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H. If I manually change each bit of text (there are dozens in each document, and 200 documents), then copy/paste the fonts into a new document, the new document becomes corrupted and I can no longer choose the font on my system (Adobe Helvetica).
I have even tried an interim method of copy/pasting, by copying to the Windows notepad. That should lose any and all formatting. But when I copy it back to the Illustrator document, it becomes corrupted with Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H.

Oct 8, 2012I find the default interface in CS6 difficult to read as the menu/tool labels seem very small to me. I can manipulate via Windows, but then the fonts in the windows of all my other apps are too big.

Yet, some pages - when exported to a PDF - are inexplicably bold and ugly! I've exported the entire document at once so it's not cause of different publication settings. I just can't explain why the PDF displays some of the titles differently - when they are exactly identical. how I can fix this display/export error? Jan 15, 2013I have an issue with copying cells containing text from Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac and pasting them into Illustrator CS5. I select the whole cell(s) from Excel, open a blank Ai document and, without anything selected so the format is preserved, I paste the cells.
The issue comes with the resulting copy of the cells in Ai. The type which was bold in Excel is bold in Ai... but not really. Ai pastes the bolded text as not bold, but then makes a copy of that same text, puts a stroke on it, then places that over the regular text, so it looks bold. But now I have two copies of the same word, one regular and one with a stroke on it right on top of one another.
This normally wouldn't be an issue but I have to edit this info in Ai later - and there's a second problem. When I paste the bold text from Excel in Ai, the resulting word is broken up into individual text blocks for each letter. Instead of preserving the whole word as one editable text block, I now have to click on each letter to change it.
There is a catch 22 to these problems: These cells that I am copying from include bolded and regular text, and the regular text pasted into Ai without any problems (even the text blocks are preserved). So it's the bold text that is causing the problems
I have a feeling this has to do with how the individual cells are formated in Excel, but I have to copy data from many different cells made by many different people, so I am at a loss of what to do.
I have include a screen shot of what's going on with cells after I paste them in Ai. I have moved the oulined "5" up so you can see the regular "5" below it.
