I'm working in CS6 Cloud. I have a document with multiple artboards. However, when I go to open it, a dialogue box comes up and says "Open Pdf - Select a page from PDF to open...". I can then only open single artboards as separate documents. How do I go back to opening multiple art boards all at once?

I am working a banner ad campaign with several banner dimensions.
In illustrator I would set up several art boards and drag/copy my elements to each artboard setting up each layout until I was happy, then export all of the artboards at once. Really great for keeping all of the designs in one file for future updates/edits.
But right now I would like to take advantage of some of the Photoshop filters and so I need to work in Photoshop.
Is it possible to set it up in a similar fashion as in Illustrator where I have multiple art boards for the dimensions of each banner and can use smart objects etc between them?
I'm having problems with a document which has 26 artboards, the document was created by another designer and for some reason everytime I try and rearrange the artboards in this document, it crashes illustrator. The document is not large enough to warrent my machine crashing when I try and do this, and I have plenty of ram. Also the artboards are stacked very irrgeularly they do not work in sequence either horizontaly or vertically down the document canvas area in rows of columns, how is it possible to arrange the art boards in an irregular way like this, I would like to know for future reference? Maybe if I can find this out I can manually rearrange the boards. I should mention when I do try and rearrange the boards, sometimes it doens't crash illustraor straight away and it gives me the message that the artboards will fall completely outside of the document area. This happens no matter what direction I try ( grid by row, grid by coloumn, arrange by row, arrange by column) and also when I try and reduce the amount of space between the boards it doesn't work either.
I cannot upload images as the document is for a client.
I have a user that is attempting to open multiple files at once in IllustratorCC. When you select multiple files and right click -> open, it only opens one file. If she double clicks a file while there is a file open in illustrator, nothing happens. The only way she has found to open multiple files is to go to file->open->browse to location for each file. This is quite time consuming. Is there anyway to enable being able to quickly open multiple files similiar to how older versions of Illustrator did?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am working in Illustrator CS (but this also happens when I open the file in CS3). I am on a Mac.
When I choose "open" or when I double click a particular file in the finder to open it, Illustrator opens two copies of it. FYI, the original file is named "AuroraTank.ai" But, when Illustrator opens the file, it opens one copy as "AuroraTank.ai:1" and the other "AuroraTank.ai:2". If I edit one of them it makes the changes simultaneously on both.
All of my files do not open this way so I must have saved it with a certain setting? What did I do to make Illustrator behave like this and how do I stop it?
I have a file that is the reference AI CS6 file. I am working in it, then a team member opened it - no warning - then he saved, not knowing I was in it. We lost work as AI gets confused. I don't understand why there isn't a read only like other programs. we are on a server and there has to be a way to know if it is being used? Saves phone calls and time and...depending on who saves when...we lose work. I must be missing something with CS6.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen one thing in all the Photoshop versions and it really annoys me: if I open more than one file (e.g. 10 files), then in the Window list of the files the first one is always the last file in the selecting order. E.g., if I open files i001.jpg....i010.jpg, then PS lists them in order i010.jpg, i001.jpg, i002.jpg ... i009.jpg.
This makes it really unconfortable to edit multiple files in row and I have to do this all the time. Problem is that I need to process files from camera and then save them in order. One mistake could mean a lot of time later reordering items. Any fix or workaround? Currently I open n+1 files and then close the last one in order to get the listing in correct order.
In CS3 I can go to a file and chose 10 or more photos at one time. If I open 3 in CS4... I can adjust the first one but as soon as I close it and open the next photo.. the background for the next photo comes in black.same for the rest I have chosen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPS CC crashing when trying to open multiple images? If you open one file at a time, there are no issues, but 2 or more and it crashes as shown below. I've tried it with JPG's, TIFF's and PSD's and still get the same problem.I've also tried starting it while pressing alt/ctrl/shift, but still get the same problem.
PS CC is version 14.0, 32 bit, running on Windows 7 which is up to date. I do only have 4GB RAM, of which PS takes 60% of it according to the system info panel.I never had this problem before in CS6 or previous.
Problem opening multiple pictures in Photoshop. I tried to Edit.
Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Delete the Adobe Photoshop x Prefs.psp folders and Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup. Did not work, what next? Delete all the PSP folders.? There are 45 more in my computer.

How do I get drawings I've just opened to float (rather than pin themselves to the top left of ph-shop?

When I open a photo.... work on it.... open a second photo....It opens and appears as a blank pallet, (as if there's no picture) but.... when I grab and move the image window with my cursor at the top border, the image appears... then when I release it placing it where I want to move it... the image disappears again. The image is visable the WHOLE time within the navigator panel.
I then have to restart CS5 in order to fix it... but then it'll happen 10 minutes later.
I have an old mac computer that I use for display for clients that has cs3 but when I opened photoshop the images are not displayed in tabs. I have been to Windows>arrange but the only options I have are
cascade
tile horizontal
tile vertical
the preferences panel does not have interface>open documents in tabs
and I cant remember where else to look. Hope some-one can remember this far back.
Some of you might also have encountered the nasty issue of CorelDraw (CorelDrw.exe) to open a new instance of CorelDraw for every CDR file being double-clicked for opening. After twiddling around and searching the web, I finally found out that CorelDraw.exe is case-sensitive for DDE commands. I'm using PS CS 3 Extended and whenever I try to open multiple files/images (either by dragging/dropping, using the bridge or just using the Open dialog) it really takes a long time, because photoshop seems to want to "check" every image behind the one it just imported. Let's say I'm importing 40 pictures for editing into Photoshop and I'm upto image 30; then it checks every image behind that (29, 28, 27, 26 etc.), slowing the process down conciderably.
In previous versions of Photoshop, I used to be able to import multiple files and they would load up relatively quick, and it wouldn't do this "checking" of files behind the last file imported.
Is there any way to turn this "checking" off so the import process will be faster?
Is there a way to open more than one acad drawing without having to open multiple acad windows? Sort of like word. You only have one window open and you can toggle between many files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a picture file, jpegs, changing the size, the level, etc. I open several pictures usually 3 or 4 and when I try to open the next I receive a pop up error message that says: "Could notcomplete your request because of a program error.” This has just started to happen recently, probably since I upgraded to CS6. Previously I could work on a file and have 100 or so pictures
open and still be able to open additional pictures. I have downloaded and in installed all availableupdates and the message I receive when I check for updates is:
“Your applications are up-to-date as checked less than a minute ago.” I tried to Edit>Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Deleted the Adobe Photoshop Ver. 6 Prefs.psp folder and pressed Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup and deleted Adobe Photoshop Settings file. Did not work, what next?
Every once and a while when I open up a dwg, autocad will load with what looks like two viewports in my model space tab. The bottom viewport is not clickable and the top viewport is very thin and is the one I am able to move around in. I would like to get this to stop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been looking through old threads on here that all seem to date back to 2008 for this same problem I'm having, but the way to fix them only seems to work for Windows XP and I'm currently on Windows 7.
Problem:
I'll have a session of ACA 2008 running and if I double click on another dwg file it starts up another session of ACA instead of opening within the current session I'm already running. My SDI setting = 0. I tried switching it to 1 and that didn't work. Put it back to 0 and still didn't change anything.
One of the older threads on here [URL] .... says to go in to windows explorer/ tools / folder options, but that set up is different now in Windows 7 than it was in XP so I can't get to Files Tab and change anything for dwg.
We are currently using Inventor 2013 without Vault and I discovered that multiple users can open the same IPT file at the same time with no warning message or read only access like we get in Autocad. We have 6 designers all using the same Project that is a single user project. We normally don't have more than no person working on the same part or assembly, but it did happen. Two designers opened the same file to make separate changes not knowing that the other was in the file. Not until one of them went to save the file did he know someone else was also in the file. When he went to save the file he then got a warning - "A later version of this file has been saved by (user). Saving the file would overwrite changes, which is not allowed. If you wish to preserve your changes, use the Save Copy As command." In Autocad if you try to open a file that someone else has open you get the warning right away and are forced to open it read only or not at all. Is there a way to set Inventor to do the same thing? Other than using Vault and having to checkin/checkout every file. Our six designers work on an average of 50+ parts per week and many times have multiple files open at the same time to use as reference. Also the shop floor opens our files to use for programming and asking them to checkin/checkout files would not be received well. The shop floor has "read only" rights as determined by our network. Does our network settings determine if more than one person can open the same file?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy project crashed. I tried reopening it, but from then I've been getting the following error messages. While restarting my system or AE usually works, this time the project wouldn't reopen no matter how I approached this.
Steps I've taken so far:
-Restarting my computer.
-Restarting After Effects
-Importing the .aep file into AfterEffects
-Opening the file on a different computer.
-Trashing preferences and reopening the Project in AfterEffects.
-Opening one of my 5 at a 15 minute interval generated Auto-save files.
All result in the same error.

The final message can't be clicked away and when I click the exit button at the top right of the application the application crashes and prompts me with a default windows error screen.

I´m aware that Illustrator doesn´t have multiple artboards options for JPG as it does with eps, or other formats, but is there any workaround for this? Looping current artboard and exporting them to JPG or something. Or maybe there is someway to force the "save multiple artboards:true" in JPG?

So a quick search came up with "don't open from the Vault; open from within Inventor."
Lets not have that arguement.
My office just upgraded from Inventor 2009 to Inventor 2010. 3 seats, all installed the same way. When the other two users open something from the Vault, and then open a 2nd file (be it a drawing/part/assembly), it opens as a new window within the same Inventor session. (Just like it used to in .../2008/2009).
When I open from the Vault, it starts a new session of Inventor. This is frustrating, when you have an assembly open, modify a bunch of components, and then want to open their respective drawings to update them... the drawings will open in new sessions when opened from the Vault.
Obviously I've got something changed somewhere. Quick search through the Inventor options came up with nothing. Vault options?
Please don't tell me to start opening files from inside Inventor... that's a waste of my time... and everything has worked fine until this fresh install of 2010.
When I open up multiple assemblies at the same time Inventor cant find some of the part files, even though they are on my system. Many times if the part is in an assembly more than once, some of the instances will be there and only one or two instances will be "unresolved", of the exact same part. I can open each assembly one at a time and it will be fine, but that can be time assuming. I wasn’t able to find any other threads with a similar problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?
I have just switched from PS CS5 to CC. Under CS5, the default for opening multiple images put them in separate windows. Under CC, the default appears to be to put them in separate tabs and one must select separate windows from the Window Arrange sub menu. How can I restore the CS5 default. I prefer to always open multiple images in separate windows.
