Illustrator :: CS6 DWG Export Also Creates PNG / JPG Rasters?
Jan 23, 2013Why does Illustrator CS6 create a bunch of raster images (PNG or JPG) files when I export to DWG? There's no way to turn it off, is there?

View 5 RepliesA simple action.
File>Export>.bmpClose
If I run the action on one file, it works perfect.
If I try to run it as a batch, it creates the bmp files fine.
But it also creates either a .ai file, or two .eps files!
Writing one or two extra files signifiantly shows the process down.
After I run the batch it is not hard to simply delete the extra .eps/ai files of course.
But writing those files seriously slows the process down, and I have about 89,000 more files to go.

I am uing the 3D text effect in illustrator.
Problem is that my text creates lines. (See image below)
How do I make my 3D text smooth?
So I am preparing a document for printing on an Epilog Zing Laser 10000. I have an outline for a cut I need to make, but I need to accomodate for the kerf of the laser. I am trying to select the circles and use the Offset Path tool to make new circles in the same places slightly smaller. However when I apply the negative offset I get a new circle on the outside of the path and on the inside.
As you can see there is now a larger circle as well as a smaller circle, but the smaller circles don't even have a smaller circle only a larger one despite the fact I entered a negative offset. What can I do to only get the smaller circle in all the circle? Am I even on the right path as far as the path offset tool? Pun intended.
This is my deconstructed crest logo, all pieces taken apart. I tried to find the source of the problem but it doesn't seem to be anything that I can track.
This problem ocurrs (the white lines on the "body" and on the two "wings") only when I use Save for Web with the GIF, JPEG and PNG options. If I use the WBMP, SWF, or SVG options then the white lines do not appear. They also do not appear if I use the regular Save As, or if I export to PNG, JPEG, etc.
The black forms are just shapes with black fills (no strokes) on them - so there is no reason that I can find for this happening.
When importing an SVG file, I woould like the top level SVG groups to be imported as separate Illustrator layers. Instead, Illustrator creates a single default layer on importing teh SVG file, and adds the tree of groups under that layer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a MacPro using the latest version of Lion, 10.8.3.I'm trying to convert my .psd files (CS6 13.0.4 x64) into PDFs with embedded fonts, but if I do a Save As and select Photoshop PDF and then select High Quality Print, the resulting PDF files show text that appears to be partly corrupted, no matter what application I view them in.
Examples, first the original PSD file:
And here's how it looks as an exported Photoshop PDF: The text that looks normal (starting with Holmes) can be selected, but the rest does not act normal at all.
I have CS4 on a Windows platform, as a trial. I wanted to see if the printing issues that keep me from using CS3 in production were solved before I bought it.
Pretty much right out of the chute, I ran into problems. I use actions to get photos formatted to print. The action at the end, it calls Print (in CS2 was called Print with Preview). This Print step is done with modal control to allow different printers or settings to selected.
This action works fine in CS2 and in CS3. In CS4, the print comes out as a negative image. I have deleted the step from the action and re-recorded it in CS4, still comes out as an negative. Interestingly, if I use a CS2 Print command (not the new Print Preview version) in the action, then it works fine. The problem is extremely repeatable in different action or to different printers. If I disable the print step in the action and just print it without the action, it works fine.
I have the next problem with PDF printer:
I have configured a special size and assigned to a PC3 file
(1350.00 x 1050.00 mm.)
This is the default printer for some other layouts in some other DWG's as well.
If I print the layout directly from the drawing editor, it creates a PDF with the paper size I assigned, but if I print it using the sheetset, it creates a document with another paper size based on I don't know what.
The plot and publish details window shows the next message when printed from the sheetset
Sheet: BA_00-P-050-0100___ - Plotted
Page setup:
Device name: DWG To PDF.pc3 - plotted to file
Plot file path: ...DesktoppublishBA_00-P-050-0100___.pdf
Paper size: ISO full bleed B0 (1414.00 x 1000.00 MM)
I cannot find the mistake.
A college, using AutoCAD 2009, is having problems when hatching.
If using a polyline, for example, to create a hatch boundary, and then creating the hatch, both the hatch and the polyline are included in a group. How do I turn group select off so that the polyline or the hatch can be selected separately? How do I set the hatching up so that the hatch and polyline are not grouped together?
I have had some success using the 'Toggle value of PICKADD Sysvar' and the 'select' button but I have not been able to repeat my success so I obviously don't understand what those buttons are doing.
Is there a lightroom web gallery plug in where it creates a gallery where people can just check the box/like their favorite photos and then I can see what has the top votes?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know that Photoshop is not the premier pdf creation software. I do have InDesign as well, but I'm much more familiar and comfortable with Photoshop (I have the CC versions of both) so I prefer to use it as my design and layout tool.
However, when I save as a pdf the resultant pdf file is blurry for images and text, not horribly so, but not sharp and clear as I would like. My pdf files are for the web and emailing so I need to keep the file size in check, but even when I up the PS resolution to 300psi it still is not as clear as I would like. Still blurry.
What do you Photoshop experts out there do to produce the sharpest pdf possible? Is it even possible using Photoshop only or do you have to use InDesign or Acrobat Pro to get the clarity and shapness?
On photoshop cs6 (Mac Lion) trying to save file as tiff, creates .pxr, trying to save .png creates .pcx, raw creates .mpo, eps creates .gif, gif creates .bmp etc. etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on MAC OSX 10.6.8, Photoshop CS6, using a Wacom Cintiq 12".
Too often Photoshop remembers way too many History states within one pen stroke. In previous versions I don't remember this behaviour. Previously, each stroke, no matter how long, was registered as only one History state, until I raised the pen from the tablet. Now, totally sporadically without any obvious rule, Photoshop decides to remember even 100 history states within only one stroke.
Although this is sometimes useful, if you work on really long strokes, but mostly it's highly disturbing, as after using just one tool to paint only one little circle, I loose all my other, much more important History states.
i have a photoshop cs6 and im trying to find a plugin that creates Kaleidoscopes. I have been looking at Kaleidoscope 2.1 version however its only made for windows and not for cs6!

I need to export faces on a part. When i do this in either DWG or DXF if creates splines in the 2d drawing. Then i have to go back and redraw all the radii. Is thier a way to convert or export without getting splines? Our machine won't recognize the face drawing unless i redraw all the circular segments.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to have a filter that would take an image and convert it to what amounts to a 2 color image, say orange and blue, with all the original tonal values of the master image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an interior scene with an animated camera and a lot of animated lights.
I set to Project FG points from positions along path.
Divided camera path by Num. segments 49 (the animation is 1000 frames in total)
I then calculated the fg map creating one per frame.
When I come to render the scene if I leave Interpolate over n frame at 0 the scene is smooth but it will flicker as it will recalculate the fg per frame.
I know the point in in changing the interpolation over n frames to greater number than 0 is to reduce the flicker, however when I set it to 2 for example the render now is extremely splotchy.
This happens when I try rendering from 10 too (so that there are the fg file before the start to allow interpolation).
When viewed with x-ray visual style on autocad 2012 the view used to smooth as if I were looking through glass. When I view the drawing with autocad 2008 I get small dots or "x" all over my solids. Now Ive worked on the drawing on 2008 saved it and opened it in 2012 and now the dots or "x"s are happening in both versions. I used to think it was a video card issue but now that it's happening both places it can't be. How I get back the smooth glass look I had on 2012 version.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a plugin that creates patterns/textures like these:
These are from the plugin I'm searching for. It was very fast and effective to use. It is NOT the Grid/checkerboard maker or the "diagonal lines" plugin but something similar. I had it once but lost it.
Whenever I save a file as a jpeg, the resulting file has a white border around it. I can't find any way to turn that off. Is it possible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSetup: Lightroom 4.4 on OSX (Snow Leopard), 24" iMac.
Situation: Imported a large number of RAW files from camera (Canon 5D Mk III) into LR4. Several of the photos are a series of HDR shots that I want to MOVE to their own subfolder. Create the subfolder (HDR) under the date-labelled folder that the files were originally imported into. Select all files in the HDR series, and from the filmstrip, center the mouse pointer over one of the thumbnail images, and then CLICK and DRAG the files over the HDR subfolder.
Well, this where the process fails.while hovering the files over the subfolder, I get the classic "COPY" plus sign, and no key or sequence of keys will change if from COPY to MOVE. If I drop the files as is, they copy over into the subfolder. Ok, this wouldn't be such a bad thing; I can do like any other copy operation, and go back to the original folder and delete the files, right?! WRONG!!! Evidently the copied files are aliased to their originals, and if I delete from either location, they ALL go away. I had this exact problem two years ago with LR3, and had found a solution to it that fixed things so a move was an actual move. Unfortunately whatever I did to fix it went bye-bye with the upgrade to LR4, and yes, I've searched and googled myself silly trying to find the answer again, to no avail.
I've just had to re-install Lr4 - with serial numbers etc - because of a switch to Windows 8. It has however created a new (empty) catalog, whereas I still want to use the existing one with all of my edits on it. Do I now have to work with two separate catalog, or can I somehow move everything to this one? Obviously I don't work with catalog much.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently updated from LR3 to LR4. My edit in Photoshop preferences are for a psd.
When I "edit in Photoshop" using LR4, Lightroom immediately creates a "filename-edit.psd" file. With LR3, only when I saved from within PS did it create the new file edit.psd file. I like to keep the option open to use "save as" and save just a jpg if I know this is going to be my final edit and not have a psd. Now if I save as a jpg, I end up with an extra .psd file. Is this a change in LR4 or have I not set something that I had set in LR3?
If an image is opened from ACR normally, the base layer will be named "Background". If an image is opened as a Smart Object, the base layer will be named as the filename of the image.
If an action is programmed that creates new layers on top of the Smart Object then selects the base layer, the step in the action will be 'Select _MG_ 1234' or whatever the name of the image file is. If you try to run that action on a different image file, an error message will pop up at the step where the base layer is selected indicating that the file is not available because the action is pointing to a specific image file name.
How does one go about making an action with smart objects generic so that it will run on any image file?
Just recently I've had a problem with CS6 where it creates a partial (tiled) image when "Edit In" from LR4 and when saving back to CS6 from HDR Efex Pro. THe image may have one or several rectangles which may be black, white, or part of the image that's in the wrong place if that makes any sense. All software is running with current updates.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, every time I use the "Refine Edge" option after making a selection, then hit "OK", Photoshop creates a new layer with a mask on it, instead of simple leaving the selection outline there and letting me decide what to do with it (which was the previous behavior).
How do I make "Refine Edge" NOT create a new layer or anything like that?
I've just moved back to windows and have an odd thing I don't remember happening before. Every time I open an additional file, a new photoshop icon shows up on the Taskbar (windows 7). The way I remember it working previously, there was only one icon on the task bar regardless of how many files are open.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with Refine Edge. I like to often add a slightly feathered edge to my masks. I figured recording an action of using Refine Edge would give me a quick way to do that to prevent harsh-edged selections. Well, RF gives me a soft edge, but also adds sort of an aliasing to it as well, which of course I don't want. get smooth edges using RF? Below shows an example.

Suddenly today when I use the "Section tool" on a photo and then 'Crop to Selection' a new image is produced of the cropped selection and the old image remains. I don't want this and it has never happened before in the years I have been using PSP.
I want the existing image to be cropped and then I will save it.
How I can reset the "Selection tool' to do what it has always done? BTW I had earlier today used the "Crop" tool and ever since the 'Selection tool' has been creating a new image.
