Mac, Illustrator CC.(Vent from CS 5 to CC). I am producing an annual report containing a lot of graphs using CC. Hoewever i stil have to use Indesign CS5 (InCopy later on).I have experieced for several times now that an error occurs after i place the charts in InDesign. As i try to open the charts from within InDesign, i get: Errormessage: "see Attached" - then it opens - completely empty.Afterwards trying to open from illustrator CC i get the same errrormessage "see Attached" - then it opens - completely empty. However i can open the graphs from illustrator CS5. But only 1 layer and all hidden layers thrown away.Have you experienced something linke this using CC - or do you know if the graph possibilities have changed in CC.
perhaps the files ar damaged in the moment i open from inside InDesign CS5?
I can't open an illustration with two pie graphs in CS6. I am saving as CS6 format.I tried to recreate again and save under multiple file names and still none will open.
I have created reports with infographics (bar charts/pie charts etc.) where the raw data and charts were created in Excel and then I copy it into Illustrator and tweak the design (color, text, etc) and then drop it into InDesign.
I am now in the process of creating several (30+) reports that will use the same design template from InDesign - but all of the garphics will be uniqe.
What is the best approach to create all of these graphs? Is there a script or macro that I can create and save when I tweak one graph, and then apply it to the subsequent graphs?
I know Illustrator has the graphing function but I havent had too much luck with and, and some of the graphs that I will create, such as donut graphs, cannot be created in Illustrator.
Any easy way to add the numbers/values into each bar in a bar graph and have them appear automatically when importing data from excel? I'm working w Illustrator CC.
I've been trying to use graph tool in Illustrator CS6 (I have Creative Cloud..) but having some issues when changing the design of columns. I'll create a design for a certain set of columns, but when I try to use the design in the graph itself they disappear completely. The data still shows in the data menu, but no bars! And its not on all the bars, usually just one set. I've tried reentering the data and also recreating the column design and nothing seems to be working..I keep having to restart graphs and having the same issue.
I have a horizontal bar graphic and I want to make it have the same shape than a circular graphic that I have as background.
What I do first is to rotate the graph (after converting it in an image) to the right angle, depending on where it has to be positioned. After that, I use the Effect->Deform->Arc to make it fit in the same shape as the circular graph. But when I do those processes (in any order) I get a distorted image, with lines not describing concentric lines (not as radius, I mean).
I got the perfect shape working on a MAC, but now I am working on PC. How can I achieve the same?
I have several Freehand bar graphs and line graphs that I need to convert to Illustrator. So far, I have saved the files to Illustrator 7 and then opened them in Illustrator CS2.
But the numbers underlying the graphs don't seem to come through. How can I keep those numbers intact, bringing them in from Illustrator so that I can go back into them and update numbers to generate the bar graphs and line graphs in Illustrator?
In a lab the students get this kind of graphs to later be processed in an axial system: a grayed pencil draw, very delicate, with all the imperfections in weight, intensity, etc.
We need to obtain an uniform line (a solid one, without gray variations, same weight, etc)
Autotrace seems the best tools although the results appear a little irregular. What could be the best approach as we have hundreds to process?
Beginning with the scanning (more resolution?) and processing firstly in Photoshop?
I have a detailed graph that is created in Excel that I want to paste into Illustrator so that I can save it as a high resolution TIFF file for submission to a journal.
In Excel the graph looks like this:
But when I select it (using Select Objects and then Copy OR Copy as picture) and paste it into Illustrator, it looks like this:
I have used different line formats in Excel for the different curves that are plotted and these obviously don't come through correctly when pasting into Illustrator. The lines are there but the scaling for the dashes or dots seems to be changed (increased). I'm good with Excel but a bit of an Illustrator newbie, why this is happening and can it be corrected.
I am on Win 7 64 bit system using Office 2010 and AI CS6
I'm trying to create a line graph in Illustrator CS5, with a data set that contains some numbers, but then has gaps before a final number at the end. The graph needs to show a general trend between the gaps.
Is there a way of forcing Illustrator to draw a line between those figures, as it's just leaving a gap in the graph at the moment.
We are introducing a new graph design, but has a problem with not being able to override the tick marks in the category axis in Illustrator CS5. A typical graph (line layout) can have 250 observations, and since we have the tick marks on full width, the graph gets "crowded" with black lines.
In the value axis there is possibilites for overriding the values, but not on the category axis.
Is there any way to script so that the tick marks in the category axis can be reduced/overrided to e.g. 1 in 20?
I'm try to automate the importing of the Varaible and datasets into my graphs via Scripting, but the ImportVaraibles() function doesn't seem to work. Here is my Script, mostly copied from the example script provided with Illustrator (CS5). And, this works manually, using the file names in the script, via Load Variable Library
Set appRef = CreateObject(strIllistratorVersion)
'Open the file and import the datasets Set docRef = appRef.Open(strTemplate & "200-500.ai") 'docRef.Datasets.RemoveAll docRef.Variables("Yearbook").Delete
Here is the problem, after I delete the previous library, then this next line, right from the example, does nothing The script then exits with 'No Datasets in this document'
docRef.ImportVariables (strXMLFolder & "Lumber_200-500.xml") 'appRef.DoJavaScript "alert('Template:" & strTemplate & strRange & ".ai | XML file:" & strXMLFolder & "" & objFile.Name & "^')" If (appRef.Documents.Count > 0) Then Set docRef = appRef.Documents(1)
[Code]....
If I remove that delete line, the script runs, but just uses whatever Variables I had last loaded, not the XML file.
It's simply not loading. What do I need to do to get it to load?
I'm using two Mac computers, both with PS CS5 12.0.4, ACR 6.6.0, and OS x10.6.8. On one computer, PS and ACR work fine. On the other, I have the following problem:
When I apply Sharpening in the ACR Detail panel, setting all the sliders, then open the image in PS as a smart object, the sharpening has not taken effect on the image in PS. When I re-open the image in ACR, I find that the Amount slider in the Sharpening panel has re-set itself to zero. The other sliders in the panel are still where I had set them.
However, the output sharpening in the ACR Workflow Options area does take effect in PS, and appears to be working fine. I just re-installed everything, but no improvement. As I said, it all works on the other computer, so I have a reference for what PS should do.
Have tried the ARRAYPOLAR command on AutoCAD 2012 and seems that there is a problem with the prompter asking for number of items. It seems to randomly accept or reject the numerical keyboard input:
Command: ARRAYPOLAR Select objects: 1 found Select objects: Type = Polar Associative = Yes Specify center point of array or [Base point/Axis of rotation]: Enter number of items or [Angle between/Expression] <4>: 10 Specify the angle to fill (+=ccw, -=cw) or [EXpression] <360>: [code]...
I am creating a multibody part. I have revolded a surface from a sketch through other bodies and used those bodies to trim the surface. I then thicken the surface to create a solid.
The solid is transparent and no amount of property adjusting or anything else will make it opaque like the rest of the solids.
in the picture the open scalloped portion contains two bodies.
I'm trying to rotate a piece in an assembly by a selected axis to a precise angle, but the program just won't let me. I get to rotate it around with my mouse, but it only lets me change the angles at 5 degrees minimum. I try to type in a precise angle into the box, but it only lets me type in 1 character. Below is a screenshot of what I mean (I'm using Inventor 2011).
[URL]....
It either only lets me put in the first digit or won't let me manually change the value at all. What is up with this? The tutorials clearly says I can put in a arbitrary value.
Inventor 2013. I use user workplanes to define my pipe runs. I set them up in the top level tube and pipe assy, include them in routes then constrain sketch geometry to them. I have done lots of this in my assembly and it has worked fine. They need to be visible and clicked on in the model window; for some reason you can't click on them in the browser. Now it won't include them in my routes. It thinks about it for half a second but does nothing. It will include planes from solid model geometry, origin planes, and user workplanes created in the run.
2 graphs have appeared on a picture I was working on in Photoshop Elements 9. I don't know what I did to get that. I cannot undo it. I closed the program. When I look at the picture in organizer the lines are not there. As soon as I put the picture in the editor, the lines are there and in the organizer it says "Edit in progress". How do I get rid of the graphs? There are no layers.
I have two graphs with one curve (single line curve on a x-y axis, one is blue, one is black), and I scaled them to the same axis size. I now want to put the two lines onto the same graph (one of the two). What I do is I select the graph with the black curve (on a white background btw), and select the black curve with the free select tool, and copy it to the other graph.
Unfortunately, this proves to be problematic as when the two curves intersect, my black curves (and the small surrounding white background) "erases" the blue curve. What I would like is at least for the white background to appear "behind" the blue curve (it is ok for just the black curve to be on top of the blue one).
Is this possible to do with GIMP or do I need another software ?
I am using Corel Draw X5. When I paste an Excel graph into Corel the resolution looks terrible. I can paste this same graph into most other programs and it looks fine. No matter what I do and no matter which special paste command I use I am not happy with the resolution of the graph - you can actually see the pixels. When I convert to PDF you can still see the pixels.
I'm trying to convert Excel graphs into high resolution tiffs. I am saving the graph as an .eps file and opening it in Photoshop. This worked for a few graphs, then all of a sudden Photoshop started opening the .eps file such that it was shifted and only part of the image was showing up (the rest cannot be seen and is just cut off).
I am trying to stick with one program(Autocad) and not use Softree, but when someone graphically represents something in Softree it looks way more professional than the profiles and cross sections I am creating in autocad. Is there any way to make these graphs look more professional other than tweaking in Edit View Style?
I've created a simple graph of an area painted with some transparency in Origin Pro 9.1(such as this: URL..... and copied and pasted it on a blank CorelDraw X6 file. The area in the embedded image looks checker board pattern, not transparent as in the original image.
The problem appears to be within CorelDraw, as the embedded link to Origin software works fine, and an embedded image of the same graph in Microsoft PowerPoint looks just fine.I've tired combinations of earlier Origin versions (9.0, 8.5) , CorelDrawX3, XP and Windows7(32bit, 64bit). All failed.
Bring that back from the archives... because I am still very fond of redoing hundreds of cross sections because you're incable of redistributing the graphs when a sample line is added to a an existing group... and blow up all of the projections well done.... way to leave out a super critical dynamic component.

There is some unbelievable gaps in the software but how do you let this one go on for so long?
Dell Precision T3500 - Xenon W3550 @ 3.07 (4 core) Ram @ 12Gb 64bit Win7 Pro Samsung SSD NVIDIA Quadro 2000 - Dual Monitors Cat 6 network with GlobalScape Avail Agent - WAFS Infrastructure Design Suite Premium and Civil 3D 2012
Currently using Throttlestop to overclock i7-2600 to its turbo state and setting the priority of Illustrator to realtime and the affinity to the first 4 cores. Also, the system has 16gb of RAM installed and is set up as Raid 0 on 2 250gb 7200 rpm hdd's. Even during the most stressful tasks the cpu usage never goes past 13-14%, which is half of one core. The system is completely idle except for 1% in use by various system tasks. Is there a reason as to why Illustrator is throttling itself?
I currently need to convert some of my tshirt designs to ai or esp format so they can be printed. I have discovered the trace tool as to fix the problem you get with the lines when you import a psd file to illustrator. What I am still struggling with is keeping transparency of the background.
I did manage to create a ai file from png with a transparent background, but now I cannot seem to replicate it. Also I find it difficult to see IF the BG is transparent since its always white (instead of the grey blocks). atm I check by adding a layer in illustrator and paint something to look if it shows under the original layer.. seems a bit silly.
I've read that importing the png files should solve the problem, but I can only manage to keep transparency when saving as a png, which is not what I need. btw (may be the reason of my failure) I import the psd file and select flatten, since the psd files often contain many layers and I couldnt get the trace tool to work.
So I have a few questions which you might be able to answer; I sort of know the difference between ai and eps, but I dont see any reason to save as eps, is this correct thinking (taking into account I can deliver them in both formats)? What would be the easiest way to convert psd or png files all with transparent BGs to ai? Is using the trace tool efficient and a good choice to fix the problems with the picture caused by importing psd to ai? should I 'always' use the "place" function to import?
What is meant with "text to curves" and "line thickness to paths"?
I have an unopened, sealed CS2 but the box says that it runs on OSX 10.2-10.4. I don't want to open it if it won't run on my OSX 10.8.2. Is there an upgrade that will permit me to use the application?
