All of a sudden, when I select and copy an old ad to a new page to update it, it copies without images and as plain text, all of the font selections are gone.
View 3 RepliesIf it's a bug, then I cannot believe it wasn't caught before the release. So here it is. I simply put artistic text down on page 1. Select the text and copy to clipboard. Add a new page and paste the text. On my computer, the text changes from artistic text (as copied to clipboard) to paragraph default text left justified across the center of the page. It doesn't matter how much text I select, it always pastes on the new page as paragraph text left justified and across the center of the page.
However, if I select artistic text and any other object, copy and paste to a new sheet, it works erectly. Apparently, I now have to select text and an object to insure that the paste feature works properly?
But I wouldn't be able to upload a hundred tiny, plain images. I made this to add onto the background removal FAQ. I hope it's accepted.

I'm making a mixtape and want to take a ninth of nine album covers and put them together. How can I select a ninth of the images to copy into a new one? One would be the top left, the next top middle, etc.

I write the text out as normal (not using a text box) but when i copy and then try to past to another page it then does several other things.
It changes the font and cap height, puts it onto a text box and centres it on the page?
If i copy and paste text along with an object (say a simple box) everything copies and pastes perfectly, just not text on its own
Is there a way to select everything on the artboard and copy it to the clipboard using VBA?

I am running Windows XP with 4GB ram. when i start laying out in paper space, i copy the window in one page or copy multiple pages, every time i copy a page of window my memory builds up & up & up with each one until it gets to over 2 GB & the it tell me that if i continue with this next process CAD will crash because i have maxed out the virtual memory. This is usually not a problem when i am doing smaller one off drawings with a few pages of windows but when i am doing a bigger project with 20+ pages or windows i run out of memory.
I gave the latest file to my business partner & he does not have this problem at all. He can open up many windows & as many pages as Cad will allow. His memory always fluctuates around the same 2GB. He is running Windows 7 with 4 GB ram.
I have a page of clipart symbols. Illustrator recognizes that they're all separate... but how can I convert them in a batch process to individual symbols?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHave a document that has several artboards in it. (kinda like a multipage document). Each page is similar, but some of the text boxes has variations from page to page. So if I am zoomed in on page 1 to one text box and I select some text, using the type tool, and then hit SHIFT-page down (or page up) to go to the next page, it won't. Switch to a different tool, and it works.
WHY? Why can't I use a keyboard short cut to jump to another page while in the type tool mode? I don't want to take my hand off the keyboard or move the mouse.
Is there a way or a script that will make all the text on a page Dynamic? At the moment we have to select each text box and press 'make text dynamic', which can get tiresome with a lot of text boxes. If we select all the text boxes and do the same we get a lot of variables with the same name which gives an error.
So we need a script that can make it all dynamic with different named variables.
I have been having a problem selecting objects in Illustrator. I am only able to select boxes and type by clicking directly on the path with both the selection and direct selection tool. Normally I can select text by clicking anywhere on it. I have checked my selection preferences and have the "Object Selection by Path Only" box turned off.

It would be much easier for me to stay in Illustrator. My plan is to create a a pfd book and an ebook for sure - and possibly, later a printed book. I'm completely stumped about how to make the right choice. BTW - I don't plan to produce the ebooks via InDesign but through a simple iPad App that just allows you to lay in a picture and put the text over it.I'm using CS4.

View 39 Replies View RelatedThe goal is to copy a text object from one illustrator(CS6) document to another maintaining live type and having a graphic style applied from the appearance panel. When an effect like an arch is applied it is converting the text to outlines during the copy and paste, however a straight fill will not. The type of font (TrueType, OpenType, Postscript) does not seem to affect the problem.
Alternatively I have been able to take the desired appearance, create a graphic style from it, apply that to a path and transfer the graphic style to the new document via copy/paste, then apply it to live type on the new document. Obviously this is not ideal.
I've looked around for this but haven't found much. I have a server with thousands of print proof sheets, and since the beginning, long before me, the files were saved with verbal descriptive names. It would be a lot better if they were saved according to the PO number. All the proof sheets have a po number listed in pretty much the same place on the sheet... is there a way to copy that PO number from the field within the pdf, and save the file to a new folder using that number as the filename using a script?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I copied text over from Photoshop to illustrator it kept the text formatting. For example the font, font size, color. Now when I use CC and copy paste text from PS to AI, all text formatting is lost and everything is placed as whatever the current AI text setting is.
HOWEVER, pasting from AI to PS WORKS as it should. All font/text formatting is maintained. Is this a bug or is there a setting for this that I just never knew about?

that is the steps to do this procsses
1- create new text box
2- copy the width attribute and apply it on the new text box, I repeat this with with X, Y, Hight attributes.
3- copy the content to the new box
4- delete the old text box
Several times a week I need to take a PDF (single-page doc), then convertto a page-sized PNG with quality good enough to read the text (and atransparent border), and then convert to a SWF. I have a PNG-to-SWFutility, but when I used it on the PNG saved after I opened my PDF andexported from GIMP, the end result was not good enough. A co-worker saidGIMP couldn't make a PNG (w/transparency) with enough quality. He said we'dhave to use some other software. Part of the issue was not being able toresize without losing quality before the PNG export. True or false?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a very simple logo. Basically, I created two layers: one with the letter M and the other with the letter W. I now want to place another letter over top of them and then select it so I can delete the shape of the third letter from the other two and essentially be able to see the transparent background through the third letter.
I have done this in PS CS2 no problem, but I am trying to do it in illustrator so I can resize the design for anything from a business card to a billboard if needed. Bottom line is I need a solution that wont effect me being able to resize the vecotr to crazy sizes.
In the image below, the "S" is just a white letter. I need it to be a cut out through the M and W so that whatever Background it is on the page or document shows through that S space.
sometimes i open an Illustrator file with a missing image link. I have many image folders depending on the job and it would be great to be able to copy and paste the photo very long text to search for it in my HD.

We are having problems with text in Illustrator CS6.
1. When we copy / paste text within illustrator all color information is lost.
2. When we save documents in Illustrator CS6 then re-open text with color attributes changes to different random colors!!
For example: If we save an Illustrator document with a paragraph of text that is part red and part black when we re-open the same paragraph might be all gray, or orange or (you pick a color).
