CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: How To Draw Egg Shape
Mar 4, 2012I'm having trouble drawing an egg shape. I drew the oval, then converted to curves. I moved the bottom node up and that made the shape squatty, but I want to move the side nodes out symmetrically. Is there a way to do this? Is there a simpler way to make an egg shape?

Jul 30, 2013i'm using corel draw x4 on windows 8. I use the Math-Type Editor in order to create complex formulas with indices, potencies, greek letters and fraction bars.
Unfortunately Corel Draw can't depict some of the symbols for example the small theta "ϑ" or the multiplication sign. Instead of writing them it creates a blank or question marks.
Is there a way to create those symbols in the Math-Type Editor?

Feb 26, 2012I used polyline to trace a tree trunk. I wanted it to be just a series of line segments which I was going to export to AutoCAD and then to Sketchup. However, each segment I drew said it was a curve. When I exported to AutoCAD it came in as a spline. If I convert that to lines, where I had maybe 10 lines there are now 100.
I also tried to 2 point line tool. I started each new line from the end of the previous. It gave me the same result.
Is there a way for me to end up with just the 10 line segments? No spline. No curve. Just 10 straight lines.

Apr 1, 2013I've imported some linework from sketchbook, and despite the tool being set to draw at 100% opacity, my lines are partially transparent.
I want to increase their opacity, but drawing over all the lines again would be terrible.
The lines are all a solid black (although I have another layer with various colors) so there should be some simple operation I can do to adjust that opacity, but I can't figure out what.

How can I set these attributes in Corel DESIGNER X5? I found a predefined element named "Name", but no element named "Id" under object data. Further, I found out, that when I change the name of a object through the object manager the element "Name" changes also.
We should deliver the CGM graphics as CGM GREX 2.6, so these two attributes have to be correct.

Mar 10, 2012I just installed cdr x5 on a tablet pc (asus slate B121) and I like it very much. But I begin to get frustrated by the Poliline tool.
Since this tool needs you to double click to end a curve I always get curves with added nodes to the ends (it's impossible to do a double-click with a pen without moving the pen between the two clicks.
The only workaround that I found is to move away the pen from the screen far enough so that you can press the space bar to end the curve without extra nodes. But this is really extra gymnastic for your arm... and quite annoying while you try to get the job done in few minutes.
So, is there a way to use the poliline tool without "putting down" the "unclicked" node while pressing the spacebar? Something similar to the freehand tool, but with the ability to draw curve-straight lines consecutively.

Mar 6, 2011when i draw a circle in corel draw, i set the height and width dimension to equal, so it should become a circle, but it end up in the monitor screen an oval shape, also i notice the y axis and x axis in the corel draw is not equal. so i check my artcut y and x axis, is also same as corel draw. But when i cut out the shape, it cut out a circle shape. isit due to monitor or other setting.

Jun 6, 2011I have an object that I need to print . It is a cartoon man and a cartoon flag with text next to it . I have printed the whole thing without a cut and it worked fine .
But now I need to print it with the images cut out. I believe I will be able to put a contour around the font easily however the problem is putting it around the flag with man in front of it . right now it makes contours on the inside of the image. Its hard to explain ..... the flag is supposed to be white with blue and red in it . and when I printed it on a big sheet with no contour it was fine .. but now that I need to do it on its own the contour goes inside the flag because there is no rectangle shape around the flag .(no outline around flag) How do I put the rectangle around the flag as well as put a smooth contour around handyman?

Mar 20, 2011when making no changes to an AI CS5 file, it still asks if I want to save the changes.
steps:
-open Draw- open an AI file- make no changes- when closing Draw, it asks --> do you want to save the changes?also, when you open "fileName. ai" Draw doesn't remember the file's name
I mentioned this in passing in another thread, and apparently this works with CS2 AI files. I'm using CS5 AI files... I don't know about the other versions. obviously, the name should be shown in the titlebar
and... when the file name is really really long / complicated it's handy if Draw remembers it so I can easily make a Draw CDR copy without having to type in the exact name again. Also, I shouldn't have to type in the name when I want to export as jpg (or whatever format).

Apr 22, 2012I decided to draw a long box, 2 pixels wide and fill it with the desired color. That was all fair and well until I tried reducing my image and then the nice looking spider web line that I drew turned into a horrible black and white block line that looks crap.
So, I decided to try and get rid of it, and here I am 45 minutes later still trying to get rid of it. I don't what layer it is on, there are many layers, whenever i find the layer it is and delete it it then turns up in another layer in a different color. I've tried copying and pasting over layers, it just keeps coming back, I don't know what is going on anymore, it wont go away....

Mar 16, 2013Take any image. Enlarge the canvas to create an area of transparency. Find out you can't draw on it. Click and unclick the buttons by "Lock:" in the layers bar. Get really really frustrated.
What do I do to fix this (before I give up and uninstall Gimp)?
(to pre-empt the innevitable question - I can't draw on an area of transparency. Even if I copy a section of picture and paste into a new layer and move that to cover the transparent area, it isn't visible. Its like there's an area of completely opaque transparency covering everything else.)

I've worked out that I can copy and paste the layer, click on the rotate tool, set the center, rotate it by a fixed amount, fix it, and repeat a good few times, but that will be really slow. Is there a faster way of doing it?

Jul 17, 2013How do I draw a straight line in GIMP? I'm guessing all those tutorials are aimed at windows users. But I use Debian. Also tried ctrl, alt etc.
I have to wonder what kind of reasoning went into deciding not to have a line tool. It seems so simple to implement compared to all that advanced stuff. The only decent way to make a line currently that I can see is to make a square by filling a selection, shrinking, deleting, then delete all the sides of the square that i don't want. But this is so inefficient to do every time I need a line.

Oct 20, 2012I had to restore my laptop to factory settings, which means I needed to re-install GIMP too. So I went to download GIMP on the site, and 2.8 was the only version there so I went for it. Installed my tablet too, with driver. GIMP recognizes the tablet, but whenever I try to draw, I get a semi see-through line, instead of a bold one - and there is no change in this when I change the pressure on the pen. When I used it before, it always changed the opacity of the brush in accordance with the pressure on the pen. But I don't know how to change this in GIMP now?

The curve is the horseshoe shaped curve shown in the figure below [not the straight lines which are colours boundaries] that contains all the spectrum colours. Seems to me I should be able to import the list somehow and CorelDraw would then produce the line.
