I am an experienced Photoshop user, but just found Gimp. So far, very good. I work as a consultant Chemical Engineer, in an oil refinery.
I plan to bring converted DWGs - to PDFs - into Gimp, and then insert/modify with new valves, pumps, control valves, pressure controls, vessels, etc. That would be used as "marked-up" flow diagrams, P&IDs, for new designs or modifications.
Is there a selection of objects like this that can be opened directly into Gimp, without my needing to create each one? Yes, I realize there would be some advantages to a vector-based program versus a bit-mapped program, but I can modify and use existing drawings much easier in a bit-mapped program.
Is it possible to even be able to create objects like this and import/open them in Gimp, to be moved/pasted to wherever one likes?
I have created an animated gif with 30 Frames/Layers that runs in the 'Loop Forever' option.
I now wish to convert this GIF to run in the 'Ping-Pong' option but cannot figure how to do this without going through the whole ‘Extract Videorange’ process again as this is the only place that I can find that will allow me the option of selecting 'Ping-Pong' when I’m selecting the short clip to create the GIF from the original AVI.
I have tried opening the GIF in the main GIMP window, then selecting the ‘Video’ dropdown then ‘Move Path’. This will open a window for some GIFs, but it wont recognise other GIFs as a valid source. Even when I can get this window to open it gives multiple error messages and I can’t figure how to import the GIF into it so that I can select the 'Ping-Pong' option in the ‘Step Mode’ field.
I am using GIMP 2.6.11 as I haven’t upgraded to the new version yet.
Raw Therapee is a great tool, but I find the documentation befuddling. I'd like to convert about 100 Nefs to 16 bit pgn. I'm not making edits at this time, but would also be interested in knowing what my optional line would be to apply a batch edit.
I have 100 BMP images, all the same size ( 508 x 320 ). Is there simple procedure to import these into GIMP and save as an Animated GIF ?
From what I've read ( via search and the manual ) I getting impression that I must create a layer for each frame and then insert the image. This would be very time consuming.
Virtual DUb has very user friendly interface, but I have problems with final product ( lots of residual artifacts )
how I would convert an XCF to a PNG on the windows command line. With flattening of layers.
Heres what I tried before I gave up...
Various complicated GIMP python scripts but couldnt figure out what to do with them Imagick - tried various options but couldnt get to produce correct image xcf2png - couldnt find a windows binary nConvert - didnt seem to handle transparency and seems to include layers that are hidden
I created a new image with the dimensions 11x8.5 inches and now when I scale ANYTHING it uses inches and I want it pixels, I CANNOT figure out how to convert the units into pixels!! it is NOT under 'units' in the menu!
I have over 200 pdf files that I need to batch convert to tiff format. From what I've gathered, this can be done simply using Ghostscript. Unfortunately, I have no experience running GS as a command line program, and only installed it as part of Gimp. Any tool for gimp that could do this? or step by step, through the process of using GS to perform this task?
I have a image that i need to convert to a set 16-color range... the range is: 209 209 209148 157 15723 19 1963 63 63155 42 38213 118 14452 72 2355 179 4481 48 26182 169 2436 48 14589 128 208122 47 188188 62 19937 109 140233 122 46
I can't find a way to import an .icc into my GIMP work.
I want to do this so that the pictures on my computer monitor match as closely as possible to the prints from my local (high-end) print shop. My screen is Spyder calibrated.
I'm trying;
Image >>> Mode >>> Convert To Colour Profile >>> (and then from the pop-up box) >>> Convert to ... (and then from the pop-up box) >>> Select Colour Profile From Disk
... and then I select the new .icc (provided to customers on the print shop's website) from a Downloads folder on my local drive.
That all sounds right doesn't it?
It stubbornly remains on sRGB.icc
I've also tried the process in;
Edit >>> Preferences >>> Colour Management
Same result - ignores the selection of a new .icc and remains stuck on sRGB.icc.
I'm desperately trying to colour correct for printing today.
I have created a script to convert in a batch, about 2000 images, the problem is that gimp-file-save ignores image settings and uses its own defaults, so the image that has 6 layers, after being scaled, has only one layer!
as you can see, this is a generic script, I would like to avoid using the specific dds load/save because of increased complexity and for being specific to dds...
is it possible to set some format based on the original file? I could use the dds file save, parsing output from "identify -verbose filename" (imagemagick), but that will be a lot of trouble...
is there any way to convert Photoshop brushes into Gimp brushes?? I downloaded some brushes that the person who posted them says they are Photoshop brushes (.abr file) in his description.
I want to convert an image from it's current resolution of about 72 pixels per inch to 600 dpi. How is that done? This project is for a corporation seal which measures 1.5 inches per side. The stamp maker needs a .jpg at 600 dpi.
How I can convert a picture from a jpeg & convert that to a vector based eps. This is going to be for a cycling jersey for a friend but the designer only accepts vector artwork. I don't know if I would be able to do this with GIMP. I've added an attachment of the file I want to fix.
trying to do a script to save time on image analysis. I need to convert RGB JPG or TIF files into grayscale mode and save them as BMP. I have hundreds of images to convert before doing the analysis.
I tried to adapt a French script by Frédéric Bisson. However, this is my first attempt to use a script, so I probably messed up the translation, as when I try it I get the message "Error while executing script-fu-comet:; Error: not enough arguments".
Any way to convert a .xcf file to a video or animation that shows all the things you did to the image from beginning to end. I want to show a friend how I drew this picture, but I'm already done and only have the .xcf of the completed drawing.
I want to create a theme for a nokia phone with a 65000 color display. I cannot find a way to limit the images to 65000 colors. The maximum amount I can select is 256 by converting the image to an indexed display.
I have done LOTS of detailed research into ppi, dpi etc.
I believe I do understand the difference. Whenever I open a picture in gimp it opens at 72ppi. I wish to scale all my photos to 300 ppi so i can use a template I made of the exact same size paper as my printer uses without having to worry about the printer rescaling my photos from 72 ppi to whatever dpi it needs.
I have converted lots manually and am assured that this works for my purposes (not professional just scrapbook and photo album prints)
I have two questions though; 1. Is there a freeware program, or a way through gimp, that I can batch convert multiple files up to 300ppi. 2. Why when I change the ppi of a photo does the filesize become larger? Surely the ppi is just a reference number to know how many pixels to display and to convert for printing?
I have a folder of 50 images. The images are all different sizes and dimensions (ranging from about 400x600 to 1600x900).
Separately, I have a little design on a canvas in HD dimensions (1920x1080).
The end goal is just to be able to lay out all the photos on the center of the canvas as 50 new individual images (with the HD dimensions of the background canvas).
Obviously, to load in 50 unique images and then export each of them would take a long time. So I was hoping that there is a way to both (a) automatically combine multiple unique images to a common background, and then (b) export them all.
I have been using Gimp with a drawing board for cartoon pictures. Now, I like to create simple animation from the pictures that I made. Is there any way Gimp can convert pictures (whatever format) into HTML canvas code?
is it really necessary to convert other embedded color profiles to RGB built it? Gimp asks me from time to time if I want to convert Adobe RGB 1998 or Camera RGB Profile or CYMK to built in RGB. is this necessary to do or can I keep the profile? I usually convert...
