Jan 14, 2009I'm having a display bug with the menu toolbar icons in Photoshop CS4 Extended. The icons don't show when mouse hovers over them and they don't show at all for the drop down menus. Can this be fixed?
I'm on WinXP, Athlon 64 4000+, 3GB ram, GeForce 6800 GT video card [driver 181.20]. I'm not sure if this is a video driver bug or CS4 bug.
Photoshop Elements :: How Does One Display Icons Under Event Tab
Jan 1, 2014In PSE12 how does one display the icons under the event tab in a categorized tree structure?
In my PSE10 catalog, I have a highly structured event tag tree for 30,000 pictures and videos covering 15 years. This tree has annual main categories and then numerous events in 2nd level subcategories under each year. Below that are tags for which camera/person took the picture as well as other tags for videos, panorama-segments etc. Altogether there are probably several hundred or more subcategories. After importing the catalog into PSE 12 all of these subcategories show up in the top level display causing massive duplication that scrolls for 12 or more screens.
The PSE12 event tab is useless if it can only display every subcategory all at once in a flattened format. I also do not see any way to move these subcategories out of the events tag area and into the keyword tag area to eliminate clutter.
Paint Shop Pro :: Display Thumbnail On Bottom Of Organizer Screen
May 27, 2011Is there a way to have the thumbnail display on the bottom of the Organizer screen use a vertical scroll bar on the far right instead of the horizontal scroll bar below? Or, can I enlarge the size of the thumbnail display area without enlarging the size of the thumbnails? (Which means, I suppose, being able to specify what size I want the thumbnails displayed.)

Oct 7, 2013Short of converting to an add-in is there any way to place macro's into toolbars where you can set the Text of the button to something other than the macro name?
I mean, while to those who write them, there's nothing wrong (really) with a command button titled Invoke_This_Fuction or InvokeFunction, it looks quite odd to everyone else.
If the only way is via add-in, that's fine (though a friendly display name should be an option). Just trying to find out before I spend a boatload of time only to figure out you can't
Also, do all add-ins 'have' to be installed? Or is there a way you can just drop a file in the correct path and it'll appear on next running of Inventor?
Photoshop :: In CS5 Bridge With Mac OS10.8.2 JPEGs Thumbnails Now Only Display As Icons
Sep 30, 2012When I open bridge CS5 i see my jpegs thumnails for a second, then they all convert to the jpeg icon and I get this message.
"Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT, or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker".
I try rebuildign the cache then they all conver to the icon. I have thousands of jpegs. How do I corect this?
They do open in the mac preview, but that is useless for lage folder previews.

Mar 5, 2013I'm running PS CS6 on a new 27"imac. When saving documents in CS6, the majority of times no icon is saved only the file name when viewed from the finder. Around 10% of the documents saved will have an icon, the remainder will not. This is across the board with all file types. If I open up a document through CS6 I can see the file icon in the CS6 as I search, it's just through the finder that I can't.

displays "move" for erase
"mirror" for rotate
"fillet" for explode
This is true with the Draw TB, Dimension TB, UCS TB...and more..I have not even customized any toolbars yet...just turned on/off the AutoCAD ones.

Oct 20, 2013I have been using PSE 11 for about 6 months with no problems, however, yesterday the prog froze and I had to switch off and re-boot. Now all new uploads are displayed in the organiser as egg timer icons. These will open, but only one at a time when double clicked on. I am on Windows 7. I have uninstalled PSE 11 and re-installed but the problem persists. I have uploaded a very small jpeg and got the same resuilts, which seems to rule out a RAW problem.

GIMP :: Text At Bottom Of Pictures?
Jun 8, 2011Just started using Gimp 2.6.11. I like it for cutting and pasting into new files but I'm having trouble learning the method of adding captions at the bottom of pictures where I'd like to place text of the names of the people above. I get text in black but the background stays the same as previous in the picture so most of the time it can't be seen. I really need to get this going in the next week or so as I'm preparing for an event where the pictures will be on display.

GIMP :: 3.8 - Very Few Icons Fit In Toolbox
Jul 8, 2013I have had a bad problem with GIMP 3.8 on Ubuntu 13.04 x64 the last few weeks
Basically, every icon in the toolbox has a large empty space to the right of it. The occurs both in single window view and in modal view.
When I resize the toolbox the icons keep this right space around them, always re-positioning so that most of the icons are not included in the toolbox.
The only way I can see all the tools is to reduce the width of the toolbox to one icon, then they all line up vertically. But I have having it set up like this, and even then the last few are cut off by the bottom of the screen.
I have gone through all the settings menus and can't seem to find anything about it. I removed GIMP with the --purge option and reinstalled; this fixed it for a day, now it's right back to where it was.

Oct 23, 2011According to a few tutorials I have read, the Units Menu should appear on the bottom line, alongside the Status and the Pointer Coordinates and Zoom Button. None of these items appear, and I have searched far and wide, but can't find out where to enable them. The only thing that appears on that line is "Background (2.7 MB)".
GIMP 2.6.8 on Mandriva 2010.2 x86_64.

Feb 29, 2012I am currently trying to edit some graphics for a newsletter, using GIMP 2.6. However, I can't get the icons in the Toolbox to make any changes on the graphics. These include the Selection, Pencil and Paintbrush icons.

Aug 16, 2013I dunno if it is me, kde, gimp, or what.. but I can be editing along..yada yada.. do this, do that, and then look over and the toolbox on the left is missing most of the icons.. kinda like the scaling is wrong and the icons are pushed off the bottom under the tool options underneath it. sometimes it takes the usual layout with like 5-6 icons wide and replaces it with only 2 wide, sometimes only 1 wide. I tried stretching it and bringing it back, floating and redocking.. all with no fixy.
The only way I have figured out how to "undo" this is to close and restart gimp. Which is a pain when you have a mess of open files in various states of not done yet..

I found this on a website that supposedly has tutorials for this kind of thing, but I couldn't find anything except a download link, which I found on this part of the site (scroll down until you get to "3D Transparent Glass Text Effect"):

Thing is, the downloaded .zip doesn't seem to contain anything I can use. There's a .pat file, but I get an error every time I try to get GIMP to use it. There's also a .psd file (which I know is technically for Photoshop), but when I open that in GIMP, it's just two layers of a slightly faded black text saying "etc" on a background, all covered up by a big black rectangle.

Mar 15, 2012I'm trying to create icons (.ico) files in Gimp and I am looking forways to preview the result directly in gimp.
To do this I'm currently using the "New view" functionality where Idisable most things (layer boundary, rules...) to display the image inits original size (100% zoom). I also selected the Padding coloraccording to the background of the image to visualize it in proper context.
The above setup works fine for images with a fixed background color, butnot so much with images that have a transparent background.
From what I was able to figure out, the only place where you cancustomize how transparency is displayed is by going to Preferences >Display. However, changing these options affects all open windows an notjust the current view. In addition, the possible choices for howtransparency is displayed are somewhat limited (no colors other thanwhite, gray and black).
With that said, is there any way of previewing the image while beingable to customize how transparency is displayed?

GIMP :: Poor Font Rendering On Icons?
Apr 20, 2013I am adding a couple of icons to a website. They are 32x32. I produced them in gimp with a simple filled rectangle and text added on top using Verdana bold and Verdana ordinary, 14 and 12 point respectively
The result looks rather poor and certainly very amateurish alongside the Facebook and YouTube icons in between. I have tried different fonts - no improvement. Tried Hinting - didn't make them any better. Tried Anti-aliasing and this just added a range of blurred colours to the white text!

Jul 4, 2012I have a series of sheets, each with two viewports to show two plan views of a long road alignment. I arranged them to read bottom to top, as it goes up stationing, as we do with cross section sheets, but have been told by an outside reviewer that the sheets are confusing and should read top down.
How would you arrange them?
