View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use the clone tool to erase creases around an eye.
I have the layer with the eye in it active, I choose the clone tool, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh around the eye I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh that's being copied, It works spiffingly! I change brush size to work in a smaller area, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh I want to copy, But nothing! My cursor moves, but no cloning going on.
This has been plaguing me for a while but I've had projects going that I didn't want to interrupt. It's gotten to the point that I just can't take it anymore. I really need the clone tool for this phase of this project
If I have two layer and I want to use "Clone stamp tool" to clone from layer one to layer two ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble touching up a damaged photo. I have color corrected first then cleaned up with neat image. Everything looks fine until I try to clean up the spots with the clone tool. It's desaturating the photo leaving white spots.
I think it may have something to do with the layer placement so I drag the most recent to the top leaving the color adjustments below and I'm not having any luck. I've even merged the layers thinking that would help:O
Am I making color and noise corrections before I should be?
when using the clone stamp tool and press the alt key to set a point it seem to create a new layer and just moves the layer arround. I can not get the clone to now work. what did I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using the Healing Brush tool in Normal mode, the opacity of the cloned pixels when painted onto the same layer as the source pixels will usually be decreased to blend better, BUT if the cloned pixels are painted onto a separate layer (to work non-destructively) the tool will NOT decrease opacity and the Healing Brush will work more like (if not exactly like) the Clone Stamp - true??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI killed all of the dialogs under toolbox. Now I cannot find out how to set things like "alignment" in the clone tool, etc. May I have a word of instruction to get it all back to "factory settings"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using GIMP 2.8.3 with Mac OSX 10.6.8. I can't figure out how to get rid of a red line through my pictures, or even how to make the clone or the heal tools work at all. Isn't it true that you're supposed to click Control and a spot next to the blemish you want to erase, then click the blemish and it's suppose to disappear?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been working on learning Blender and using Gimp to edit textures and the like. I'd really like to be able to create tilaable textures and then clone them onto UV maps (the main cutout of a 3d model.
However, One thing I want is to be able to clone the normal map and the specular along with the UV texture map. This would involve cloning from 3 layers simultaneously in one gimp file to 3 new layers in another gimp file. Is it possible to do this at all in Gimp? It's important that the UV, Normal, and Specular maps match precisely in the new image.
I am using GIMP 2.8.2 on Ubuntu 12.10.The clone tool seems broken. It can not recognize the CTRL+left click. Ihave tried with setting different key, which also does not work.
It always says "Ctrl-click to set a new clone source"
Doing that says "set a source image first"
I just got a new computer running Windows 8. It's a powerful machine (i7, 4 cores, 8 GB RAM, hybrid HD) and it's smoking fast on everything except Gimp's clone tool. The clone tool is so slow it's barely usable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was merrily cloning away and somehow or another my clone tool changed into a very thin elipse rather than a circle. I didn't knowingly do anything to make it change.
I then made sure it was on the round fuzzy tool brush - but it insisted on making an elipse.
I have been using Gimp for a while now. I just recently switched from PC to MAC and installed Gimp on my new MacBook (OS X, Snow Loeopard). I was editing some photos and want to use the clone feature to remove some birds from the sky and for some reason it will not allow me to use clone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if it is possible to do this in gimp:
[URL]
or this:
clone and rotate the cloned source:

if its possible, how do I do it?
I previously used Gimp 2.6. When using the clone tool, I would press CTRL to set the source. When I would being painting with the clone, the source would move relative the mouse pointer location and I was able to make sure the gradients were correct.
With 2.8 it looks like the source stays put and I cannot clone see to get the gradients I am working with to clone right because I have to stay in line with the source. How to replicate the functionality of 2.6 with it?
Where is it? On page 332 of Gimp Bible (2010) it illustrates it in the dialog box, but it is not present in mine. I think that I am running the latest version.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to clone from one layer (photo) to another layer (photo), and simply want an exact pixel-to-pixel replacement. For instance I'd like to copy pixel (10, 20) from the first layer to pixel (10, 20) on the second layer.
I've found that I can set the upper, left corner of Layer 1 as the "source" (using Alt+click), and then go to my "destination" layer, and click on the same upper, left location, and then subsequent click-and-drags will then be aligned, but that is not an elegant process. I'm assuming that there's just a button click or option that I'm not aware of that will make all of this much simpler.
PS: I'm using PS CS5
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. I have reset the tools restrted my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
How do I make the edges of the top layer blend in with the bottom layer so you cannot tell that there is a line??? I want to make it look like a heart but I don't know how to smoothen the edges to make it look like it is part of the bottom layer so when I merge the layers there is no goofy lines looking like someone cropped another fire picture out...

I have two similar images where the subject has moved between the images. I have them in the same file as two separate layers and am using the subtract layer mode to identify where they differ, (roughly!).
I want to be able to use the subtract layer as a completely new layer so that I can make edits to it. The only way I have found to do this at the moment is to 'copy visible', but this still brings other elements that I don't want from where the layers overlap.
For the projects I'm working on, I use the same template beneath the different layer groups of each different project. When I move a "color" layer into the group, however, it doesn't show up like it's supposed to. It behaves as if the 'color' layer is a blank layer, and has no effect. Is there any way to get this to work or?...
ALSO: I can't open images by URL.
Why can't I align a single layer that is inside a layer group? The align tool would always select the top most layer group as the 'boundary' for alignment, thus automatically selecting the whole layers inside of it and align them as a group.
Is this a bug or just GIMP's weakness? It definitely reduces the layer group's usefulness.
Long time gimp user, but for basic tasks only. Now I would like to get my hands dirty a little more. I'm trying to setup a workflow that involves CAD, Inkscape and GIMP. Basically I did some architectural drawing in CAD, used Inkscape to clean up and convert DXG into SVG, so that I can use paths into GIMP. I did a script that for every path creates a new transparent layer with a layer mask using the path, so I can add fills and textures quickly. Now to the problem: say I want to add a texture from another image, i paste the image into the appropriate layer, then I want to transform the texture a bit (scale, rotate and perspective). the result is that the layer mask is transformed, too. I tried to disable the mask during transform, but didn't work.
Is there a way to workaround this? maybe some layer mode instead of layer mask?
I just downloaded GIMP 2.8 (on Windows 7) and was using the layer groups to organize a project I'm doing. I noticed that whenever I put the layers into the layer group, nothing I do to them actually affects the image (for example if I change the opacity of the layer, it doesn't actually change). If I drag them out of the layer group they function perfectly; sometimes if I edit them and then drag them into the group they also work fine.
As I was writing this post I tested dragging a layer set to "dodge" into the group and it didn't work. It kept the dodge setting, but it looked as if it was on normal; however, I drug another layer set on dodge into the group and it worked fine.
Is this feature just broken on Windows, or does it not work like I thought (where you can drag them in and edit them individually, or edit them all by editing the layer group itself)?
I have the latest gimp.
