GIMP :: Cannot Save Pictures In PNG Format In 2.8 Version
Aug 3, 2012I cannot save my pictures in the .png format in the 2.8 version.
View 1 RepliesI cannot save my pictures in the .png format in the 2.8 version.
View 1 RepliesFor some reason Gimp 2.8 forces me to save in xcf format. Most times I want to save a file in jpeg or png format. Having to save as xcf, and then export to jpeg or png is a pain in the unmentionables. Especially when reopening the file for editing, requiring another pointless dance with the export system.
Is there some module, upgrade, improvement, fork or other means by which export is merged with save/save as functionality, thus removing the additional steps in the process of saving a file? Ideally it should involve nothing more than hitting Ctrl S for an a file that already has a name. Put another way, something that works the way everything else does.
Is there a way I can change the default file format from .xcf?
For example, I open a jpeg, crop it and try to save, but if I then try to save it as a jpeg I get a message telling me I have to 'export' first.
I know the Gimp isn't Photoshop but in Photoshop you get the option to choose the file extension at save or save as without the added step of exporting.
Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to choose as this messing around exporting from .xcf is a real drag when you're editing a lot of images. Plus you can end up with extra, unwanted, .xcf files.
Is there a reason why the Gimp defaults to .xcf for every file edit? It seems unneccesary when all you're doing is a simple crop etc.
Again Photoshop opens, allows edits and then saves in the original's file format, which does make for a more efficient workflow. Plus it doesn't default to .psd for every edit.I'm using Gimp 2.8 with Fedora 17 64bit and will now boot into Windows to work more efficiently in Photoshop till I can find a way to change this in Gimp. There doesn't seem to be anything in Preferences relating to file formats/extensions.
I cannot save my previous files created on a student version to an upgraded 2014 version. I tried changing the save as path in the options menu, but no luck. I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.

I am creating clothing and my fashion designers created the pattern in adobe illustrator. Now the contract manufacturer wants a DXF-AAMA format, which is the file format developed by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association in an attempt to solve the difficulties of using DXF files when creating clothing/apparel. How can I do this? I have already created a prototype and printed the fabric/pattern using the AI file (this was done in NY), but the contract manufacturer I am using seems to want this DXF file in the AAMA format.

So i uninstalled 9 and tried to put the photos in again. It sends a message that they already exist in the organizer, but they don't. Also, now when i hook up the camera it wont recognize any new photos and won't reinstall into the 11 organizer.

View 1 Replies View Relatedactually I take my pictures with a Canon D60; the default of the format is 4:3 which -as I guess - can't be changed. I want to integrate these pictures in my movies which I edit with Magix. Video Deluxe 2014. The format of my movies are 16:9. Now, what have I to to change my format from 4:3 to 16:9, ideally as a batch?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been going through my catalog & find hundreds of old pictures what I should delete as they will almost certainly never be looked at or used again. If they were to be reused I could probably only need a copy that was much smaller in size. Rather than just delete them I was considering making the files size much smaller.
Is there any way yo use the batch processing tool to resize hundreds & have them saved by overwriting the old copy rather than have them as a version set? I didn't want to do this one at a time.
When opening a photograph in recently installed version of PSE11 they all appear oversaturated. I have checked all images in Canon DPP and Serif Photoplus 5 and they are fine.
PSE 11 was OK initially. The only changes I have made were to install a printer profile for my Canon Pixma IP4200 and calibrate my screen. However, printed images are fine.
Running in Vista.
I have tried to add JPG images off my laptop to Video studio and every time I attempt to import an image into it, it comes up with a message the runs along the lines of ''unable to open file, file format mismatch, [16803:1:3]''. I took the pictures with my Canon G9, but I also took video with my G9 and strangely enough the video will import and play. I do really like the Corel software and I am disappointed that this problem has occurred.

When importing 300 raw pictures from the camera with LR5, the software crashes 10(!) times. I import the pictuers to a external HDD. The pictures where converted to the DNG-format.
When importing with the photoloader from mac os x everything went fine.
I have read all the help docs, online stuff, and searched this forum and I am still perplexed.
I have CS2 Premium with version cue turned on. I make a photoshop image but when I go to the File > Save a version, its greyed out. What steps am I missing?
I use CorelDRAW CDRs in Ventura Publisher 10, which cannot accept CorelDRAW file versions beyond version 11.
I have CorelDRAW X3 which allows you to specify a previous version, like CorelDRAW 11, but it is a pain to change the version to 11 every time I save the file. I cannot find a setting to make X3 default to version 11 when saving.
Is there some way to make CorelDRAW X3 default to CorelDRAW X11 when saving?
I have photoshop CS for windows. I am trying to send a friend a file. He has photoshop 7 for windows. Whenever he opens my file it shows up as flattened.
What can I do to save my photoshop file as an older version? I know that you can do it with illustrator.
I use the save as version very often as I work on images. But lately I have found that it is not available and is Grey'd out in the File Menu.
I cannot understand why this should be! And if I check the Save As Copy box, as we all know, this doesn't work.
I'm running the latest version of Photoshop CS 9.0.2 or something like that (downloaded the update the other day).
Just upgraded from 9 to 12. When I edit a photo, it will not save into a version set, even to the save to version set box is check. Nor can I find the edited version anywhere.

When I click on the See Adobe Technote button, I received the message that that file is unavailable from the Adobe Website. I don't want to loose all my catalog information from my previous instralling of LR2.7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been putting together a birthday cadr for someone and adding layer after layer with many his res images etc., I have saved the beast in the default PSD format and it weighs in at a massive 388,963 KB. Photoshop doesn't let me save in any other format, ie JPG or PNG, even after flattening the layers and reducing the image size.
Is there an threshold in terms of size that limits the output file type? Any way forward so I can save as a JPG or PNG ?
this has caused me to discontinue use of hte product, except in very rare cases. Definitely will never upgrade until this is an option.

I have 106 files that I have to save as version 2004 for a contractor. They have been able to open all of the converted files except one. I have run an audit and found nothing. I have purged everything and still no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt would be really nice to be able to save a family as a previous version. There are so many things we've created in Revit Arch 2012 that we can't use when an older drawing comes up again. I know we should upgrade the .rvt to the newest version, but that's not how it works where I work. In my backwards company we do things the hard way, so for people like us, it would be nice to just save the .rfa as Revit Arch 2011 or 2010 etc. even if some of the stuff doesn't transfer, the attributes would.
