How to manage to use those shortcuts.. many many times they just dont work.. particularly "tab" shortcut. Will this be fixed in later gimp versions, or its just as good as it can get?

For example, I want to save an image as a jpg The only way I have found is to 'Export' (Is this the right way?)
The problem is that after getting the File menu (alt F), there's no way of getting to the 'Export' option by one key stroke (I suppose you can always press the down or up arrow - but that doesn't count - takes too long)
Is there anyway I can create my own keyboard shortcuts?
If not, maybe I'll try AutoHotkey

- F2 is trying to rename the layer if your focus on the layer tab (is it possible to disable it?)
- F10 is opening the Gimp Menu
- F1 is help
- F6 and F8 won't work
I added a shortcut (Alt-backtick) to invoke a script I had written. I seem to be able to run it once only, but only sometimes, and there seems to be come interaction with other shortcut functions that I can't characterise. The script starts with a dialog.

Usually the functionality of Ctrl-F gets clobbered also, and I also had an occasion where my shortcut executed the functionality of Ctr-F - i.e. I had just applied a drop shadow, and Ant-backtick repeated that function.
Exiting and restarting Gimp returns things to normal (but broken).
My script just adds an entry field to export-selection.scm so I can enter a filename for the PNG file.
In my case value 1 is opacity which has range about (0;100>
I find [decrease value 1 more] shortcut not significant enough for it changes value by 10 points, while [decrease value 1 relative] when its value is (50;100> also changes it by about 10 points and even less when its value is below about 50.
My question is: Is it possible to set two new shortcuts (increasing and decreasing) value 1 by 25 points? Is there maybe a recording option in gimp like in photoshop.
I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on Kubuntu 13.04.
When I change to single window mode, the Shortcuts disappear from the tooltips of the tools window (ie. 'E' for Elipse, 'Shift+B' for Bucket etc). The tooltips still work, and I can still check them on the tools menu (alt+t). But it would be nice to be able to see them on the mouseover tooltip. If I close Gimp and reopen, the shortcuts show up again on the tooltips. But if I change to single window mode again, they will disappear one more time.
A new feature in 2.8 appears to be keyboard accelerators (shortcuts) forthe pull-down menus. For example, Alt-S displays the Select menu, Alt-Wthe Windows menu, etc.
I have already assigned these key-combinations to other functions in thekeyboard shortcuts menu, but the default menubar assignments are takingprecedence.
How can I disable these menu accelerators so that I can regain the use ofthe Alt-[ESVILCTRWH] sequences?
Maybe there should be a toggle on the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts menu tohandle this. And certainly, if you reassign these keystrokes in the menu,their original function should be disabled.
I'd like to assign keyboard shortcuts to items under the Colors tab. Is it possible and if so, how?

I have numerous, common actions recorded which have F keys assigned to as shortcuts.
F10, which turns sound off in the OS on an aluminum keyboard, overrides my Photoshop shortcut.
I've lost my 12 or so most common action shortucts in Photoshop because of this! That is about a 5% loss in productivity...
I used to work with photoshop 7.0.
Since a couple of weeks I have photoshop CS.
But I can't use any of the shortcuts i used in 7.0.
I got the same problem (shortcuts stop working after a period of time while in photoshop and I need to restart photoshop to make it work again)But now, It occurs every 10 secs. I CANNOT use photoshop at all. Just as I open it I got 10 secs to use the keyboard and then its over.
Everything is fully updated, as well as drivers. Nothing has changed in my computer since the last post.
I just switch from CS3 to CS6 and I am missing some keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6. I used to be able to toggle between a layer and it mask using (for PC) crtl ~ Now, in Photoshop CS6, that shortcut switches me between the open windows. Ctrl still gets me onto the layer mask but no shortcut will take me from the layer mask back to the actual picture. I also can't even find the options in the shortcut menu to create a keyboard shortcut to toggleback from the layer mask.

CS6 fails to remember a keyboard shortcut after shutting down PS. Upon the next launch, the keyboard shortcut is not assigned anymore. When I assign a keyboard shortcut: Opt F3 to a script in File>Automate>Scripts>script_xxx the shortcut works fine until I shut down PS. The next time I launch CS6 the shortcut does not work. Going into the keyboard shortcut menu I find that under script_xxx there is no shortcut assigned. If I reassign the shortcut: Opt F3, it will work... until I shut down CS6. (rinse and repeat).
Have just upgraded to CC. can migrate my extensive shortcuts to CC from CS6. Also same applies to my actions.

I realize that I can select the eyedropper from the document palette choose a color, then reselect the object and apply the color, but I'd like to just click 'eyedropper' then sample the color and have it automatically apply.
I can't find a macro command to call the eyedropper either otherwise I suppose I could just use that.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6
Can I combine 2 shortcuts into one? There's a procedure I use repeatedly (in the absence of a vector blur tool in Draw) - Convert to Bitmap and Apply Gaussian Blur. The settings in the former would obviously always be the same - resolution, colour, transparent back etc.
Basically to be able to select the vector object and go straight to the gaussian blur settings.
Does anyone have a concise list of photoshop shortcuts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've started using PhotoShop CE and am distraught to find that a good 80% of keyboard shortcuts do not work.
PhotoShop-specific shortcuts are OK such as 'v' for the move tool and 'z' zoom, but no command involving 'Ctrl' works,
nor do the left/right and up/down arrows for moving text or objects. These two specifically are crippling my work.
Is it possible to modify and personalize the keyboard shortcuts with Photoshop 7?

I use CTRL SPACEBAR to zoom in,
and
CTRL ALT SPACEBAR to zoom out.
I'm also partial to the scroll wheel on the mouse.
For some reason on my Photoshop CS3 Extended, the shortcuts mess up.
It's probably me clicking something, but I don't know what it is, because I've always done the same thing as before and it only just started happening recently.
What's been happening is that whenever I want to use a tool like when you hit "Z" on the keyboard to activate the "Zoom Tool" it undos instead, like the "CTRL+Z" shortcut. Or if i want to use "P" for the "Pen Tool" it takes it as if i did "CTRL+P". But I didn't even do CTRL+anything, I only hit that one key. What exactly is the problem? Do i need to re-install Photoshop?

Now every time I launch Xara I get that damn dialog even though I try, alternately, to reset the shortcuts. What I can do to get rid of this error (short of reinstalling the product, which I am not going to do)?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't change the keyboard shortcuts in max. If i change them and restart max, the changes a revert.The problem is, that max stores some config files into &#xPr;ogramFiles%, but a normal user (without admin rights) can't write to files there.
e.g.: DefaultUI.clrx and DefaultUI.kbdx are stored into: C:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max 2013en-USUI
3dsmax.exe gets a "ACCESS DENIED" from the OS but this error would be silently ignored IMHO the error should be raised, so that the user knows about unsaved settings...

I tried out Max with Maya shortcuts, and Autodesk seem to have forgoten to transfer one. And that is the "add to selection". (In Maya SHIT+CTRL+LeftMouse). I don't seem to have any luck making the short cut myself. When I try to assign something to "Add to Selected" it won't let me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on an OSX Lion machine (10.7.4) with 7GB of memory.
I have the following shortcuts in Illustrator:
Cmd +Shift + = : To export a file
Cmd +3 : Select the same fill color
Cmd + 4: Select the same stroke color
Cmd + . : Rotate
Cmd + , : Reflect an object
It doesn't matter which shortcut it is what will happen is that Illustrator and my Mac will freeze up not allowing me to force quit the program. This will happen randomly and the only way around it is to restart the mac and restore default preferences via Cmd + Option + Shift when opening the program.
I have tried re-installing the suite and it still happens, so I'm wondering is it the specific shortcuts I am using or is it the computer? I only ask because Illustrator has no issues when everything is defaulted, however when I add the shortcuts this issue will happen.
When I use zoom tool (in or out) in an atrwork in illustrator (cs5) then shortcuts don't work. so I have to even a click on an empty area or push (Esc) button to get back functionality of the shortcuts.
