View 2 RepliesAlthough I'd like to move all of my layers at once, because I resized my canvas..
I can't even get one to move. What am I doing wrong? I followed these instructions.

Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)
How would I go about making certain text and/or layers to gradually move throughout a video? Can I not do that in Gimp 2?

I am running Ubuntu Linux 10.04. On my older linux pc GIMP included a menu option I think to access Layers, might have been Dialog --> Layers, I don't remember. This version of GIMP has Layer --> New Layer, but it's not immediately obvious in looking through all the menu bar options where to get to a Layers dialog where I can move layers, rename them, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just want to draw some simple animations, and I was thinking of using the layers as frames, like with gif creation. I know you can use pageup and page down to quickly shift focus from one layer to the next, but is there a way to only have the current layer visible without having to mess with the visbility toggle for each layer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter pasting a new object in order to create a new layer, in thelayers menu there should be Floating Selection ("pasted Layer") like Burnie wrote. Forme, I right-click the "pasted layer" and select "New Layer", and the pasted object showsup as a new layer. From there, I make sure I deselect everything (SELECT > NONE), andthen use the move tool (making sure the cursor is over the pasted object) to click onthe object in your new layer in order to move it.
You can move it first too though (then press ctrl+shift+N to turn itinto a regular layer). I find that quicker, but whatever floats yourboat. Layer. Whatever.
So I have this gif animation and I want to add a background to it. when I add a new layer (the background layer) and draw something on it (like as an example: a field of daisies) and save the layers as an animation than..well..you guessed it..it participates in the animation.
So how to add a background without harassing the animated layers?
However, I am not quite satisfied: whatever I try, the background never seem to match with the characters (I know most of you will find it awful, but my goal is to get it to be somewhat plausible, now it seems just too fake).
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to unlink my "background" in the layers pallete from the other layers.
I am using photoshop CS2. on a mac OS X.
When i make changes to other layers in the layers pallete, it changes my 'background' as well. I know that i can duplicate it but regardless, the 'background' changes according to what i do to the other layers even tho it is locked.
i have a big problem and i can't finish my project until i fix the bug.
The problem is .. when i click on layer ,the layer just stay brown and i can't move it ... when i try i move only the red background. If i want to move the layer i have to click 2 times on in and then the layer is blue and i can move is....
I am trying to move layers either up or down. I read somewhere to go to the Layers tab and under there should be Move Up or Move Down. When I do there those functions are not present. Could it be because I am using version 3.5.11?
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy gimp 2.8.6 makes majority normal layers turn into text layers..
Even if i "discard text information" from layer..and then save it as .xcf it doesnt work! Same layers appear as text layers when i open that .xcf Its not a big deal but it really slows me down when im working with layers..
I merged my layers down to scale to proportion and I thought I was done with the project, so I saved it and exported. I then learned that I did something incorrectly, so I went back to the project only to remember I merged the layers and I don't know how to undo that. How do you revert the layers back to layers?

In Photoshop I'm unable to move the background window. I am able to move document windows and all the other panels, but not the background window. From the bottom right of the window I can collapse or expand the background window, yet it is stuck to the top of the menu bar. This is annoying because in order to access a finder window lying behind the Photoshop background window. I have to hide, Command H, Photoshop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?
people want to move multiple layers together. I know how to do that. I want to move a selection in two (or more) layers together. I'd also love to know how to use the free transform tool on a selection box in multiple layers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a travel-brochure. Initially it was a tri-fold but now it turns out that I need more space hence, I need to go up to the four-fold which covers a legal-sized page of 8.5 x 14, as opposed to the standard 8.5 x 11.
However, the added three inches to the canvas size was added on either side of my project when I really want everything to the left margin with the 3 inches left over on the right, which would be characterized by an extra flap or fold.
Now I have a lot of layers and elements going on which have not been flattened. So I thought that if I highlighted everything by clicking on each layer with the control button depressed when upon finishing I could just drag the entire "project" to the left of center. NOPE.
A message states, " layers are locked and cannot blah blah" something to that effect.
I tried not pressing on the background layer and then clicking the rest becaue I did a test run in a new project by throwing up a bunch of layers and when I clicked on the four layers leaving the background layer not clicked, everything moved together.
So I tried that, but it still didn't work in my main one. A possible theory as to why it's not is that there are layers of my images that have that little spray can icon on the bottom right corner (AI) I believe? These are like jpegs, so when I want to manipulate them, I have to open them up in another project; cut up the image or whatever, then flatten, then cut and paste back into my main project.
So do I flatten my current project first, then move it over, then unflatten?
How can I shift my project to the left of center by still retaining the layers etc..
When I followed the step 2 from this tutorial:[URL] said Could not use the move tool because no layers are selected.

I'm trying to create a script via javascript for Illustrator.
My problem is : I have a AI file with multiple layers, i want to create one artboard per layer, in order to export a multipage PDF ( each page contain 1 layer ).
The layers represents the differents type of print ( vernish, color, hot gold, pressure ... ) and/or color type ( Pantone, CMYK, cut, kisscut ... ). My client want a PDF for see each type of print or color type per page.
I'm trying 2 ways :
1st solution : Create new artboards, and duplicate ( or move ) layers content on the new artboad, but the function move/duplicate don't work to move content on another artboard.
2nd solution : Create new document with the same number of layers as artboard and duplicate layer to the new artboard on the new document.
I have the image extracted from the original photo and now I want to place it in a new background, but I cant seem how to figure out how. I have used the magic wand tool and selected all then cut and paste, then remove the white area to reveal the new background, but then I'm not able to position the photo where i want it in the new background. I have done a search on youtube and a google search, and have alot of info, but not what I'm looking for. I'm using elements 7. Anybody have a good link for me to watch or a good explanaiton. BTW I am a total newbie to photoshop, this is only my second day having the software.
