GIMP :: How To Create Curved Text
Aug 7, 2012I am attempting to create curved text in GIMP. Here are the steps which I complete:
1. Create a curved path
2. Type the text
3. Click text to path
This all works fine, except that it doesn't give me all of the text along the path. For example, if the text is supposed to read "Church-wide Picnic," it will only give me "Church-wide Pi."
I have created the path all the way across the screen and made the text as small as possible, and it still does this.

Aug 19, 2013On the image of the slider of my Homepage I want a semi transparent box to appear and then after a few seconds some text will appear on the semi transparent box. The text and the semi transparent text box are on different layers. I found a tutorial on a website and followed the instructions.I created a rectangle with the sizes I need and then:
Colour > Colours to Alpha > Left Click on the pop up box that appeared > Left Click on the Colour to Alpha Colour Picker > Click on the colour I want to make transparent > Export as .png
What I got is indeed a semi transparent foreground text box to place my text on but it is too dark (Pic.01). I would like it to be light semi transparent like in Pic.02 on the right(Avada 3: The Best Yet)
How do I change the transparency level / Opacity of the foreground text box? I changed the Opacity to 50% on my second try but I did not see any visible change.
Photoshop :: Get Bluish Industrial Effect Of Skull
Mar 9, 2012i've been trying since my filesystem died, to get this right, basically, i'm trying to get the blueish industrial effect of the skull, shadows and all. and if at all possible the blue glow thing in the top right of it as well, I'm about to reinstall ubuntu and Photoshop it'll be ready for tomorrow.

Photoshop :: Bluish Tint On Screen When CS6 Running?
Aug 4, 2012I just bought a MacBook Pro three weeks ago. I'm running Mountain Lion. Also, I have my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS6.
Something very unusual is happening. I'm a Graphic Designer and currently doing an Interior Design major. I calibrated my monitor perfectly. But now, ever since I installed CS6, every time I open Photoshop, a bluish tint sets on the screen, affecting every program running (browsers, for example) and it's very annoying (not to mention it disrupts any color calibration I made to my monitor). The only solution to this problem is closing Photoshop (the problem persists even if I minimize Photoshop to use another program).
I tried opening Illustrator and it works fine. Only with Photoshop this is happening.
I searched on Apple discussion boards for similar cases and found nothing.
What's interesting, I took screenshots to send them to a friend and the screenshots don't seem to be affected by this phenomenon.

Nov 7, 2011How to create a cool rainbow nebula text effect that you can play with. This is a fairly easy effect to achieve.
The result will look something like this:
1. Create a New project and set your dimensions. In this case, I am going to use 500 x 200. This part is up to you.
2. I think this effect goes best with a dark color(black) so use the fill tool to turn your background black(or your color pick if it is different).
3. Next, add your text using the text tool. I believe the font Century Gothic goes well with this. However, I am going to use my logo with this. Make sure whatever you do, if you use your logo or not, that your subject is white.
4. Right-click on the text/logo layer in the layer panel and select Alpha to Selection. Then create a New Layer and go the Filters→Render→Clouds→Plasma and click OK. Put this layer on the below the text one if it is not already.
5. Now Gaussian Blur the text layer by 5 pixels and set the Layer Mode to Overlay.
6. (This step is optional. I am going to do it though because it gives a good result in my opinion.) Duplicate the Plasma Layer and Gaussian Blur it by 5 pixels. Then you can play around with the opacity with the Layer Mode on Screen, I set mine to 50%. Then duplicate the text layer and lower the opacity which I did to 50%. This gives the text more shine.
The result will look something like this:

GIMP :: Create Path From Text Option Missing?
Jun 24, 2012I'd like to outline some text, so I went to the Text tool, entered the words, highlighted them and then looked for the button that would let me create an outline path. It's not there. Plain and simple. There's an empty space between "language: English" and the tool pre-set buttons. I checked under the paths dialog, but the option isn't there, either.
I've never used the text menu before - actually, I've just never used GIMP before. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious? I read a couple of tutorials, but none of them said that you had to do anything other than highlight the text to make the "create path from text" option appear.
I'm using 2.8 and Windows XP.

Photoshop :: Screen Turns Bluish On Shutdown Asus Ee...
Jan 25, 2009I'm running photoshop on my Asus eee pc but I have it running on an Acer Aspire 5670 monitor (bigger screen makes it easier for my retouching work!) and whenever I shutdown photoshop my screen gets a little bit bluer.
I can fix it by doing a recalibration but it's still kinda annoying because I don't always remember to do it and I'm sure you can understand that trying to get skin tones right when your screen is blue can be an utter.
Lightroom :: Slight Bluish Tinge On Print Margins?
Dec 14, 2012I built 3 profiles with ColorMunki for three different papers (I print with an Epson 3880). Using each of the profiles, a slight bluish tinge appears in what I'll call the "margin" of the prints. My tests were done on 4x6 paper, but the image was only about 5" wide--so there's a 1/2 inch "margin" between the edge of the image and the edge of the paper. The bluish tinge shows up here, but doesn't extend into the white border of the print. The weird part: the bluish tinge appears ONLY using the profiles. If I choose "Managed by Printer" everything is fine. No bluish tinge.
This could be related to LR 4.3, which I downloaded just before making and installing the profiles.

Mar 28, 2012I am trying to develop an animated GIF to use as a web-ad, I have readthe docs and googled but still having problems :-(
The ad (portrait format) is very simple: a background logo at thebottom of the ad, and three different text messages which rotate. Ithus created a bottom layer with the logo covering the bottom third; asecond layer with nothing but the first text message on the upper2/3rds, another layer with the second text message also in the upper2/3rds and finally a layer with the third text message in the upper2/3rds. While the logo at the bottom should be displayed at all timesthe three different text messages are shown one at a time.
After reading the docs I then expanded each layer with a text messageto be as large as the ad itself. My next step was to try to create alayer mask - for each of the three layers with the text messages, saidlayer mask to cover only the lower 1/3 where it would be transparent.
This is where I ran into problems, no matter what I tried, I could notaccomplish this. There must be something very basic I have yet tounderstand!
Last, in order to create the animated GIF, I exported all four layersusing "replace" in the dialog box. I also experimented with "combine"to no avail. No matter what I tried, I either ended up with an animatedGIF where the logo and the three different text messages over timebecame overlaid, or, an animated GIF where only one thing was shown atone time.
What have I missed?

Mar 19, 2013I use the path tool to create the shape of the text line I want to curve. I enter the text I want with the font, colour, etc, and select text along path. The text goes where I want it, but no matter what I have tried, the text colour along the path (my curved text) is always red and it doesnot look like the font in my text area. I can change the font / colour of the original text which works great, but the text along the path doesn't seem to change.

Basically I am exporting a large 48"x60" .odt (open office) file as a PDF at 300dpi so I can then import it in to GIMP. When I try to import the pdf at 14400 (width), 18000 (height), & 30o resolution I get the following:

The printing company is requesting my file be at 300dpi so that is why I am trying to import at 300 resolution. I am guessing this is a bug. My question is can I somehow just open the .odt file in gimp and add my high resolution images to it there? Is there a plug in for .odt in GIMP?

Nov 2, 2012i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties

Oct 28, 2013I'm trying to copy editable text from a Word file into the text editor for GIMP. Before I upgraded to 2.8, this was possible, but now it seems not. I'm on 2.8.4 using OSX Mavericks on a Macbook Pro.
I'm a terrible speller and since GIMP doesn't support spell check, this was always my workaround.
