I recently switched to an IMAC and am having nothing but problems using the gimp/UFRAW system! I take a photo that looks great in UFRAW and send to GIMP and the color is totally off! VERY red almost neon and saturated!

When I upgraded to 2.8, UFRaw didn't come along for the ride.
I tried installing UFRaw into the GIMP2.8 folder, but I get an error message saying "The program can't start because libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I'm using the UFRaw plugin to GIMP for importing RAW images. However, if I do any adjustments for a particular image, UFRaw will save that as default when I import the image to GIMP.
is there a way to turn it off?

I have searched, but everything I find says that UFRAW is included with Mac builds of GIMP. This seems to be true for versions that run under X11, but not for the native build.
after configuring ufraw i am running the make command and get this error:

I've got a script for processing a bunch of files which starts by bringing up ufraw. I would like to have ufraw save the list of modifications made before returning to gimp. (.ufraw file)
However, when gimp starts ufraw, it passes some option to ufraw whichcauses ufraw to not display the save tab which allows setting what to save.
Is there a way to tell gimp to bring up ufraw differently, or is the problem in ufraw?
I'm attempting to tilt this image for use in a game im writing. I've been using Map Object and rotation (Y) but this then causes pixel color changes on the boundary with the background color. How would I tilt this picture without getting the problem?

If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

Ususally I just make my own textures, but I wanted to edit an existing texture this time. The texture is for armor called Red Dragon Armor, it has red scales on it.
I want to replace these red scales (without taking away the details such as the streaking and the scratches) with gold. I tried using "Color select" then "colorify" but it didn't come out quite right.
What is the usual method for changing the color of a section of an image if there are details and you don't want to use the "bucket fill" option?
I have a dark gray triangle alongside a pure white triangle in a square GIF image. I want to convert the white triangle to alpha and leave the dark gray triangle completely opaque. When I use Color --> Color to Alpha, however, I see the checkerboard pattern extend over the gray in addition to the white.
1. Does this mean that the gray is being made translucent?
2. If so, how do I set only one the white to alpha (at 0% opacity) and leave the gray at 100% opacity?
I have a layer that is all white with text and some shapes (with heavy anti-aliasing, so the alpha channel variations of white, too) and I am trying to convert it to a specific other color (just a cream color that I have the HTML code for).
So, when a layer is all one color (not counting variation in alpha values), is there a technique to change that to a specific other color, rather than just toggling the "Color Balance" to get an approximation?
I am using the Color Exchange feature in Gimp 2. I am trying to change a red background to black. The Color Exchange feature allows me to do that, however, it comes out with only part of the color changed and it all very blotchy.

I have a graphic that is mainly shades of gray but with black outlines and divisions as well as other colors mixed in. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?

I have a simple silhouette design that I spent a long time creating and cropping out. I made it one solid color so after I saved it I could use it as a layer and change the color with the bucket fill tool. When I saved it, then opened it up again it appears one color until you zoom in, where it shows it is actually a number of different shades of that one color which makes it very hard to change the color of the image. How to do this so I can save this layer and change the color of it easily? It is going to be part of a logo I am doing and do not yet know the color scheme.

I've tried adjusting the color balance, the levels, brightness contrast, hue and saturation, but I cant get the goldish-yellow appearance on export as it seems in gimp.

1. whenever i use the paintbrush the paint doesnt completely come on the board. like it kindof "skips" where it adds paint and where it doesnt.
2. I'm trying to add color to a lineart i'm making, and the color wont change. Like I'll try to change the color from black to orange. on the palet it says the color is orange but it still shows up as black (with a paintbrush or a pencil).
how to use the secondary color in GIMP. By default, primary is black and secondary is white. I know in MS Paint the secondary color is used by right clicking, but this is not the case with GIMP.

I scanned a file in my scanner, it is jpg. The file opens fine in Gimp 2.8.2. I added a transparent layer but when I start to paint on it, the only color Gimp will let me use is black. I can change the foreground and background to any color I want, and it still draws black. I created a white layer, same problem. If I draw on the original file layer, it does the same thing. I already saved the file as an xcf file.
If I open a fresh file, the color works fine, it seems to be just this one file. What have I done to this file and how can I fix it? I tried to attach the file, but it looks like it did not work, I don't know.
I am trying to replace one color with another but I cannot get it to work.
I select by color
I click on a pixel of the color I want to replace
I click on the fill paint can icon
I click Fill whole selection
BUT...when I try to click on any pixel in the picture I get the little circle with the line through it on my cursor directly above the little icon of the paint can. Usually you would click anywhere on the picture and click and it would fill that section/selection with the color of your choice, but I am unable to. I have tried it in different formats, I clicked on the layer, I am out of options.
i like drawing in pencil, then inking, and then scanning it into my computer, and what i'd like to do is put the pic on a transparency and then erase the paper and pencil from it but keep the ink lines, so they'er the only thing on the transparency. I can do the inking on a transparency layer over top of the original draft in gimp, but i prefer to do it on paper.

When I color a the background of a photo to alpha it works just fine, I save it and export.
But when I try to open that same photo anywhere else the background is white .
Does the color white exist in GIMP 2.8?
