GIMP 2.6.11 on both win7 and macos 10.6.x exports/saves (with "Save as...") .gif's with pinkish background hue; no apparent problem with .png export/save. fwiw, we did uncheck "Save background color" for .png's as per [URL] ... . See no such option for .gif's that we have yet to find.
What's happening and/or what we might be doing wrong for .gif's? (eg, monitor calibration, etc?)
I have a psd image that is ~7000x7000 pixels and divided into ~800 slices.
I then:
Choose File | Save for Web | GIF 128 No Dither (and leave the other options, like 128 olors, Transparency, etc at the defaults). Click Save (in the Save for Web dialog).Specify a file name (e.g., myfilename.gif)..Leave "Images Only", "Background Image", and "All Slices" selected.Click Save.

i know how to make a transparent image in gimp, and i know how to make gifs in gimp, but if the background istransparent on the gifs, it shows the previous layer on the gif, how do ifix that?
p.s whenever i edit gifs, they turn out just fine, but I want to make myown so...
I have a Canon Rebel t3 and when I try to import my pictures they all have a pinkish hue to them. I have looked at all the settings and they are all set to their default. So I went to UFRaw site to see if my camera was supported and it looks like it is not. I was told to download a DNG converter which I did, it was update 6.4. Unfortunately, when I try to open this it says "Update not applicable".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that every time I save an image in GIMP as JPG the qualityslider bar defaults to 85. Even though I keep changing it to 75. If thisnumeric value is a Photoshop equivalent like other GIMP features, then 85is probably a wasted effort. The research* I'm aware of* (note emphasis)says that the quality in JPG images saved at a level above 75 is"theoretical." In other words, the increased quality is there in technicalterms, but imperceptible to the human eye.

I understand how to make the animation now and I need to change it to index mode etc. but it seems no matter what I do it saves looking smudged/blurry not crisp... not like the preview. I understand there are a limited amount of colors in gif... Iv been doing online searches and trying all the recommendations I seen. Everything from choosing the dithering option to saving each layer (its just 3 layers) as a .gif separately first and then adding them together... nothing seems to work. What else can I try?

If I simply open Gimp, drag both of them into a new project and save the resulting thing as a gif, I get this: As you can see, the transition between the two is anything but smooth (the last frame of the first animation and the first of the second appear to be fused somehow? It also happens when the second animation ends again), but I can't seem to identify the cause for this as the layers seem normal and don't seem to warrant this.
I got a request from an administrator of an online meat cutters club. He sent me two separate animated gifs that he wants me to put together side by side in one picture. When I open one it is fine. I then adjust the canvas to make room for the other but when I "open as layers" the second gif's colors are all messed up. Is there a way to combine 2 animated gifs side by side into one larger image? It would be some tedious work moving the layers and merging down to mix them in, but I might be able to do that.

A test animation is attatched, but many of the colors are wrong often the colors are changed to white by gimp.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?
I want to change a 1920-1080 p background, into a 1920 - 1200 background.

as a web-developer i'm working with PNG files alot. Since the release of Photoshop CC i always need to go back to CS6 for saving what i did in CC. I thought maybe it's just an early bug which will be fixed soon but still nothing and annoying. Maybe i missed something and there is a benefit in this bigger files? So here is a short discription...
When saving a PNG file ( file > save as > PNG > Compression: Smallest/Slow and Interlaced: None )
the files saved in Photoshop CC are about 17kb bigger compared to the saving in Photoshop CS6
A former 0,3kb PNG file gets saved with 17kb in Photoshop CC.
I use the English Windows 64bit Version of Photoshop CS6 and CC.
