Edge Animate CC :: Insert JQuery HTML Into Text Field Nested Inside Of Symbol?

Got a nested symbol. Rather simple one. Inside the symbol is a background rectangle and a text field. When I click a button, it should insert the HTML I give it from the click event.
Now initially I did this by just using the text field by itself. No nesting. This is the code:
sym.$("copy").html("Edge Rocks!");
OK, success! The text loaded just fine.
Now let's insert that text field inside of a symbol. And let's call that symbol 'content'.Now I try....
sym.$("content").$("copy").html("Some new text");
Result? Nothing.
Tried using stage instead of sym and even added a var stage = sym.getComposition().getStage() statement before that. Nope.

'm trying to get the properties of the symbol and a text field on the stage. And I can get the width and the height of them by this script below.

Because I'd like to know other properties too, like rotation , opaque , show/hide, etc.

I'm new to Edge, Javascript and HTML5 (coming from Director/Flash/After Effects background) I'm wondering if there's a way to target a nested symbol from a button. I would like to make a simple Pause/Play toggle button that stops a nested symbol is it's playing and plays it if is stopped. In software's I'm familitar with, this can be done with a simple target path and if/else conditional statement, but I can't find any examples that don't seem much more complicated.

I have a symbol called Rectangle and a text field called Counter on the stage. Inside the symbol I have another textfield called Counter2. For the .click event of the symbol I have:
sym.setVariable("checker", "1");
sym.$("Counter").html(sym.getVariable("checker"));
sym.setVariable("checker", "0");
sym.$("Counter2").html(sym.getVariable("checker")); //error here?
But I noticed that only Counter is being changed and that Counter2 was not targeted. How do I target Counter2 without having to move it to the main timeline?

i create a button, when you clik it with this command:
sym.play("myLabel");
you go in the stage timeline to the label called "mylabel" ...all ok
but if i save my button as symbol when i press it, it don't go to the label on the stage called "mylabel"
What i need to write if i whan that my button inside anoter simbol work?

I saw a post on this issue but was not sure where to put the code I read there. how exactly to edit this code line to work
I am inside a symbol "oneAnimation". At the end of the animation "backBtn1" appears. Inside this button, I have added an event on click. I want the stage timeline to play from the label "startNumber" when this button inside the symbol is clicked.
So far it's not jumping back to the main time line.
sym.getComposition().getStage().play("startNumber");

I've created an adaptive container on my main stage. It calls 2 symbols "layout1200" and "layout800".
These symbols have pretty basic functionality, and that works inside the symbol.
So dropping the layout symbols directly on the stage, the functionality works fine.
But calling the layout symbols through the adaptive container, it no longer works.
I've even converted the adaptive container into a symbol, to call that symbols first.

I have a top banner for a website - the website is fully made in Edge.
The banner is 540px high, and 100% width. (Stage width is also set to 100%)
Now inside this banner, I want a large image to show.
The center of this image should correspond to the center of the banner.
The width of the image should be 100% of the banner. (Hence 100% of the browser window).
The height of the image should remain proportional to the width of the banner, i.e. no distortions. (Was using auto before)
The overflow should be hidden. (So basically the image is always 100% width of the browser window, and the height overflows both both up and down).
Somehow in ver 3 of Edge Animate I can't get all these options to work at the same time - can't use 100% width and auto height for an image anymore.

I'm working on this study and I need to change the color of an object inside a symbol when I click another object.
The object is called "bola", wich is inside the symbol "ponto" and the clicking object are the colored pencils (each pencil should change the color of the symbol's object, giving the impression you'd selecting a different pencil to draw).
I think it's simple to understand what I mean when you see the files.
I already tried this line on click event of the pencils, but it didn't work:
sym.getSymbol("ponto").$("bola").css("color","#123456");
I would like to improve the experience of drawing as well. I made it with the "mousedown" event. Is that a better way to get a similar effect?

I created a simple symbol from a circle with a cross inside (two rectangles). The symbol has two states labelled "normal" and "over" in which background colors change : on mousover and mouseout on the circle, sym.stop("over"); and sym.stop("normal"); respectively.
The problem : "over" when the cursor hovers over the circle, but back to "normal" when it hovers over the cross. The API suggests to use mouseenter and mouseleave to avoid child elements of the symbol interrupt the mouse event. I tried it, but the behavior is the same.
Is there any JavaScript solution (I'm a beginner, coming from AS3), or should I bypass with two flattened graphics "normal" and "over" ?

Edge Animate project produces 4 default framework files right now: Edge API, jQuery, jQuery Easing and JSON. Gzipping them we got 60KB of pure JS compressed and minified code. After that we have actual project files which can be compressed into around 20KB but this really depends on a project. So finally we have around 80KB of JS code without images, styles yet. This is acceptable for broadband connections but looks a bit too large for mobile devices.
Is there any way to minimize dependencies on jQuery so that framework will be at least 30KB? Smaller is better in this case.
I'm evaluating Hype by Tumult at the same time and framework JS produced is 16KB compressed and minified. It's 4 times smaller (60KB of Edge Animate). It doesn't contain IE-compatibility though but I don't seriously care about IE 6-9 as mobile is primary target for me so Webkit.

I have a textfield nested in a symbol and am using an Adobe web font (droid-sans). When I change the text inside the textbox with something like the following:
sym.getSymbol("captionButton").$("textBox").html("Hide Captions");
the fontFace APPEARS to go to some other sans font and seems bold from that point forward. Do I need to reset all the css properties of the fontface every time I change html text in a textbox.

I have a Edge project I would like to add a simple html to, which consist of many simple text divs. Is this possible?
I also have the block of div codes if I can just insert that instead .
I opened the html file in edge it shows as many separate divs. I can select but cannot copy to another edge project where I want it .
can I convert it to symbol, or can a html file be turned to a symbol?
can i group div them?
can i add it by editing the .js file and creating and ID?
So i instead opened the edge html in DW CC where I can copy the code and paste the div's over. it previews right. except the location and it covers all frames on the timeline (I only need it in one part of the site). So then i tried Muse as a html insert but i lost a lot of edge attributes. fail!
I'm trying to avoid rebuilding all the text divs in edge.
Question is:
what is the best way to import, or reuse html in edge ?

The function of restatrt is that by pushing on this button everything goes on its places. Like reloading the page (but of course without reloading) How can i do this? I would like to use the Jquery Address plugin with an Adobe Edge Animate project. When I create a simple website without Edge, I can easily use the Jquery Address plugin and implement it but here I'm a bit disappointed because I'm not really a developer and I don't know how to do.
I find more friendly the fact to be able to use the browser arrow to reresh, navigate previous and next page. Maybe it can be added in a future update of Adobe Edge ?

I have a project in Edge with a couple of screens as symbols on layers in the main timeline. I've been trying to write a function in the global scope that I can call from all the buttons, to show and hide screens.
So far I have a function that looks like this:
function mainScreenOut (){
sym.$("screen1").hide();
}
But this and many variations don't seem to work. how to use these jquery commands properly?

I'm new to the Edge Animate and I have been working on a project that requires text input. The code does not 'recognise' the value entered into the input field. The action is quite straight forward, Correct Answer (360) play label 02, Wrong Answer play label 03. Ideally I would like allow three attempts.

I want to have some kind of collision-detection within two symbols. So when one symbol collides with another there will appear be text like "squash" or something.
I haven't found anything about collision-detecting in edge animate, but I thought I could handle it with looking for the same css-parameters of both symbols. Obj1 is moving to Obj2 on a motion path. Now I want to have a Text, when it reaches Obj2.So I tried it like this:

I have create a small Edge Animate animation that I'm trying to add to our home page. After getting everything running and working properly in IE9+, Chrome, Firefox and Safari I moved it from the development environment to our live site. Then I viewed it on an older machine running IE8 and the down level stage worked great, but it disabled a jquery image slider and a little custom jquery script I wrote to polite load an embedded youtube video. The only cusomization I did to the edge files was to remove the loader for the included version of JQuery so that it would run the on I call from Google instead. This prevent intial conflicts between already existing jquery elements on the page.

I have done the lesson 5 in Adobe Edge Animate Classroom in a Book and everything went well up to a point. When I edit the text for the drop down moreinfo symbol it changes the text for all of the slides. How do I make the text individual to each slide?
