CorelDRAW X6 :: How To Combine Layers Into One Composite Image
Nov 22, 2013
I am somewhat new to graphic design and have a coreldraw design that needs to go to print. The company's Pre-Press Mgr sent me this message:
the background is made up of a million separate layers that each contain a clipping mask and an image. The file size is huge due to the sheer number of these layers and may have trouble trapping and imaging. The bulk of these layers and images could all be combined in to one composite background image to reduce the file size, trapping issues and imaging issues. You do not want to include vector elements that you want to remain sharp, but for the soft background effects it should be one composite image.
Does this mean to take the layers that make up the background and "Group" them and/or convert to curves?
I'm a coreldrawX4 user. I would like to print a composite image of my identification  badge on a T-shirt. How would I do this?, should I take it's picture with my cell phone-forward it to my e-mail address then import it into corel or have it scanned and forwarded to me. I don't have my own scanner so I was thinking Staples or Kinkos.
Once you create a composite layer at the top of your layer stack w. Option-click on "Merge Visible" in the Layer Panel Menu, is that new layer the only layer that now shows (represents) the image? For instance, if another adjustment layer is added below it, and the Background layer is the only image layer, will the effect of that adjustment be visible? Or do I need to delete the composite layer and create a new one to include the new adjustment layer? Â The reason I ask has to do with an illustration (below) I came across from one of Mark Johnson's old NAPP tutorials (Total Control Glowing Montage). In his tutorial "Layer 1" was created as a composite layer of the Background Layer and "Levels 1" which had a Smart Filter applied to it. Then the two "Levels 1" copy layers were added last to fine-tune the effect of the Levels 1 adjustment. Notice they are BELOW the composite layer.
I have an object with a UV map on tiles U0_v0 and U1_V0. I have assigned a standard material to the object, the material has a composite map in its Diffuse Color slot. The composite map has 2 bitmaps in layers 1 and 2, each set on a different tile.
In every viewport only layer 1 is displayed correctly (with Smooth + Highlights shading) while Layer 2 is displayed as if with Flat Shading (swapping the bitmaps confirms that layer 1 always gets priority). Here is an example:
I will add that it renders correctly and this is a viewport thing, in any case I have tried changing the direct 3d settings in the display drivers window (preferences settings > viewport tab) and nothing so far has worked.
I've also tried hardware shading in individual viewports, nothing.I then tried installing different drivers but that did not work either. I'm using an fx quadro with the latest nvidia drivers on windows 7 x64 by the way.
I am trying to find a tutorial about making a composite image of a skier flying through the air. I shot at 9 frames per second and want to show all of them on a single frame. Can anyone point me to somewhere that would help get me started on this kinda thing?
I am trying to combine the layers on a warehouse map into one layer. Right now the layers are setup based on the types of architecture and my ultimate goal is to make layers based on the departments that work in each section.
I want to apply Burn to a flattened image, but without flattening. My image consists of several layers, and if I apply Burn to the image layer it doesn't work as well as when applied to the flattened image. But I don't want to flatten the image.
I have uploaded a test image here. It is a crop from a scanned Kodachrome using a Nikon Coolscan V ED which causes flare whenever highlights abut shadows. I can remove the flare fairly effectively on a flattened image with several Burn passes by using a brush size:75, Range: midtones, Exposure: 20%. But if I try it on the unflattened image layer, the results are not as good.
First, a slightly long winded explanation. Shooting the creative family Christmas card this year in a Mini-Cooper (original 60's one). Basically set my lighting up and then shot individual members in the car to post them together. The only snafu - my 20 month old son wasn't exactly cooperating, so the 'good' photograph I have of him is in the drivers seat, and I wanted to move him in between us.
There were a few difficulties here. First, the light changed between originally shooting my wife (windshield was clear), as skies were blue, and when I took the photo of myself nearly an hour later (cloudy skies cast a glare on the windshield. I had a black scrim set up to the side which worked, but wasn't able to knock it out all together. So i faded the clear windshield from my wife's side over to my side with the glare, but I feel that looks fairly natural (or at least good enough for the Christmas card).
The trick comes with my son - I cut him out from where he was at the drivers seat (had to do some shoddy work on his shirt where the steering wheel blocked him), and put him in between us. However, it looks like his coloring is off from what we are - and I can't quite seem to get it right. Color balance is definitely not my strong suit in PS.
I'm having a problem seeing a file in LR 4.2 when it is in the folder where I want it to be.  I created a composite tiff image from two raw files that reside in two different folders. I had exported the two raw files from LR as tiffs, opened the tiffs in Photoshop CS5, then combined them into a multi-layer tiff to create a 600+MB composite file. That composite was saved in Photoshop under a new file name using "Save As" . I knew the new composite file would not be in the LR catalog until I imported it.  When I imported, the image went into a new date-named folder (call it folder "A"). So far, it all made sense to me.  From this point on things got funny. Working within LR, I tried to move the uniquely named composite from folder A into the folder that one of the component files came from (call it folder "B"). The Move failed. Instead, I got an error message saying the file already existed in "B."  I could not see the file in "B" using lightroom, but MS Explorer revealed that the file was indeed there. I don't understand how it got there.  Still trying to get my composite in "B" recognized by LR, I first deleted the composite from "B" using explorer, then went into LR and moved the file from "A" (where LR recognized it), into "B".  Still no good. LR does not show the file in "B", yet it appears in explorer.  I suppose I could live with this composite file in its own folder, "A," but that is not really where I want it. More importantly, I don't understand why I can't see it in LR in the folder where i want it.  - Is my catalog file damaged? -Might the XMP files have anything to do with this? -Is the size of the file (>600MB) a factor?
I'm trying to combine a monotone image onto a grayscale image to use in my Indesign file. The whole job has to print two colors.  How can I easily make the diaper a PMS color and add it to the grayscale baby and still maintain two colors (PMS + K)  Right now, I'm cheating and combining the PMS diaper onto the grayscale baby in Indesign..... but I really need to have this in Photoshop so I can add shadows to make it more convincing. I tried converting the grayscale to CMYK and deleting all channels but black, didn't work as it took away all the information from the image.  See image below.  (using CS5) Â
I'm preparing some vector for laser cutting and engraving,I'm having troubleThe curve can also combine the two, I got to tell one more screenshot [URL]
Can I combine 2 shortcuts into one? There's a procedure I use repeatedly (in the absence of a vector blur tool in Draw) - Convert to Bitmap and Apply Gaussian Blur. The settings in the former would obviously always be the same - resolution, colour, transparent back etc.
Basically to be able to select the vector object and go straight to the gaussian blur settings.
I have 100 of pages of a clients logos, I want gather them into a single A3 page, normally we can do this thing by giving print command (Imposition tool in print preview) but we can get PDF output or can directly print it, but I require cdr, so is this possible? I tried making PDF and importing it into corel but most of logos not coming well bcz those are bitmap, some bitmaps are viewing as a horizontal sliced.
I have created a macro to change the Country of Origin text in a cd label file and I also have created a macro to remove some guide rings in the same label file but I am unable to combine the 2 macros into one macro I can run on the cd label file. The code for each macro is as below.
Sub Rings()   ' Recorded 27/04/2012   ActivePage.GuidesLayer.Visible = True   ActivePage.GuidesLayer.Visible = False   ActivePage.Layers("Guidelines_2").Visible = True   ActivePage.Layers("Guidelines_2").Visible = False   ActivePage.Layers("Guidelines").Visible = False   ActivePage.Layers("Guidelines").Visible = True   ActiveLayer.Visible = False   ActiveLayer.Visible = True   ActivePage.Layers("Graphic Elements").Visible = False   ActivePage.Layers("Graphic Elements").Visible = True   ActivePage.Layers("Guidelines").Visible = FalseEnd Sub
'TextReplacePublic Function FindReplace(ByVal str As String, ByVal toFind As String, ByVal toReplace As String) As String   Dim i As Integer   For i = 1 To Len(str)       If Mid(str, i, Len(toFind)) = toFind Then  ' does the string match?           FindReplace = FindReplace & toReplace              ' add the new replacement to the final result           i = i + (Len(toFind) - 1)              ' move to the character after the toFind       Else           FindReplace = FindReplace & Mid(str, i, 1)       ' add a character       End If   Next iEnd Function
Public Sub TextTranslate()   Dim s As Shape   ActiveDocument.BeginCommandGroup "Text Translate"   For Each s In ActiveDocument.ActivePage.Shapes       If s.Type = cdrTextShape Then           s.Text.Story = FindReplace(s.Text.Story, "Recorded in Ireland", "Recorded in China")           s.Text.Story = FindReplace(s.Text.Story, "Printed in Ireland", "Printed in China")       End If   Next s   ActiveDocument.EndCommandGroupEnd Sub
how I could (1) join the 2 macros above or (2) create a batch macro for each macro above I could run to update all coreldraw cd label files in a folder.
when i trace pictures in BW i often encounter a problem to extract so many small pieces in graphic in the same color.i wonder, if there is some hotkey ( by click :-) to combine together all vectors with the same color, and leaves the rest.
I am Using x3(with all patches installed) This problem has persisted throughout all patches. Often times when I combine 2 objects, the clipping hole does not show through. The objects are combined, but they appear as one solid object. It only happens occasionaly. I have tried virtually everything to make it combine properly, but to no avail.Â
I produce large photographic art prints by combining my own edited 16-bit RAW photo images with 8-bit stock photo images and 8-bit photoshop artwork. I used to just reduce my 16-bit photos to 8-bit and then edit my composite image as 8-bit, but I ran into banding and other problems in the color gradients I created later in my composite image. Â I want my composite image to be 16-bit to get more accurate colors and better gradients. What is the best way to bring 8-bit image files into my composition and maintain best quality? Is it good to convert 8-bit images to 16-bit in PS before importing? I also heard about bringing 8-bit images in as Smart Objects?
I'm brand spanking new to paint.net and I have a question. I have 2 photos that I want to place side-by-side, combined into one image. One will need to be resized to be the same size as the other so the edges will match up. I don't need to do anything else to them, just stick them together and print it as one image.
I have been trying to learn the chiseled effect on Discovery Center the video tutorial the girl voice came so distorted that I decided to look up the written version .In the step 3 they ask to Arrange Combine but Combine does not light up
I am working on parsing the psd file and saving the data as per doc of photoshop 6. I need to make an image from the layer data alone with different combinations of layers selected, visible etc... and not using the merged data section in the file.
i have an jpeg image, & also aminated gif image, how do i place the animated gif image over (in the center of the image) a jpeg image & save it as gif file ??
What is the fastest way to take a directory of individual corel files
page1.cdr page2.cdr page3.cdr ... page 50.cdr page 51.cdr page52.cdr  and combine them into one single 52 page coreldraw file for printing/imposition.Â
After assembling the render output of my 3d app in photoshop (32bit) and changing the appearance via several CC layers in different layer modes (e.g. Hue/saturation in Overlay mode) I ended up with my composing for print purposes. The comp is complex, with several masked folders, single masked CC layers and many image layers (some with masks). Now the client wanted me to animate part of the image. No problem I thought. But the trap is of how to assemble the different image sequences (diffuse, specular, reflection, masks, etc, etc). I came up with a PS action which loaded the single images and arranged them in the same fashion as the master file. But now PS doesn't load the incremental images for the batch processing. Images are named in a Diffuse_00001, Specular_00001, ... fashion. Loading the first set works, but from Diffuse_00002 everything goes wrong and PS load the 00001 files (except from one file which loads in the proper incremental way). I can't transfer this stuff to AE as it is much too complex and I do no AE only very little. I guess PS should be capable to solve this batch task, but a simple action via batch seems to fail.
what I'm doing right now is trying to erase the background of many different photos and combine them (as different layers) into one image. I finished two layers and just as I was about get going on my third layer, I made a mistake and did something to the threshold. I didn't remember what I had it on (well, it was on the default setting) so i put it back to 141 and decided to continue with my work. but then I realized that I couldn't select anything.
