View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently added a second screen to my desktop and noticed that when I File Open in 2010, the box is always the small default size even after I change it numerous times. I use Display Fusion to manage the two screens but that is not the issue as this still occurs when I turn it off.

I am trying to change settings so the raw file opens as: 17.776x10 and anywhere from240 to 337.6 dpi whatever works or is esiest to set.
My settings are for use in creating blue ray dvd movies and with cropping and editing printing high quality pictures for family.
I have trouble with file size, example I design a poster say 120mb and open existing poster 200mb so that i can copy certain images and text from it and even though I delete the second poster before the saving the new poster but the file size becomes 320mb?
So I thought there was something worng with my machine i.e a virus.
I repeated the example above and removed all the images and all background and left the text on the poster and save the final poster with text only but the file size is same i.e. 320mb?
i wanted to reduce size of cdr file. I wanted to know whether we can change resolution ,colour ... its it possible to compress images with and without use of any software.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am baffled why one of the files I modify on a weekly basis (for a weekly coffee shop newsletter) seems to have grown excessively over time. It is 12 pages of 8.5 x 11 size and back in January of this year the file averaged about 12 MB. It has since grown to over 400 MB, but remains at 12 pages. It contains a good mix of text, graphics and bitmaps (all B&W) but nothing that would justify such a huge file size.
We currently use CorelDRAW 15.0.0.486, SP1.
My system is an Intel Pentium G620, 2.60 GHz with 4.00 GB of RAM on 64 Bit Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1.However, I save the file over the network to an AMD Athlon II X3 440, 3.00 GHz with 2.00 GB of RAM on 64 Bit Windows 7 Pro, SP1.
I have tried deleting pages and eliminating elements in the file but it refuses to drop below 400 MB for a saved file size.
I receive an artwork from my customer to print a small label to cover some wrong printing.
The label is 110x160mm and the file size is 15MB.
So I intersect a small part of 4x40mm for the replacement label. When I save it as a new file, the filesize is 10MB!
I wonder why the small piece of artwork is so big, while it only contains a 4x40mm bitmap of 300dpi and the rest are vector.

I prepare an A0 size poster and with the vector graphics it is about 5 MB in size. When I started to insert a photos it reaches 50 MB. I carefully prepared my photos but for each 1.5 MB inserted image the size of the cdr file increases with about 7 MB.
You know, Corel hardly works with files bigger than 50 MB. I inserted 6 photographs 1.5 MB each of them but my cdr file became 50 MB and the program stopped working with it.
I was working on my wedding album and had half of it done. The file size is 2.08 GB -- huge I know, and every time I saved the file or the autosave feature came on it took several minutes. I closed the file and tried to re-open it but all I got was a blank standard sized page. The same thing happened with the back-up.
I desperately need to submit the album pages in the next 12 hours or I lose the money I prepaid with the printer. I tried renaming the file as a .zip and then went into one of the folders and opened the riffData.cdr file, but no luck there. I also tried opening a new CDR file and importing the old one, but that didn't work.
When I try to open a 17 MB CDR file, A.R.M. comes up and Corel crashes. I can open other CDR files fine.
WHen the ARM wizard finishes, I get this message:

is a very important file (I can't open the Backup file either).
I made a file in coreldraw x6 and unintentionally opened in corel X5. Obviously it didnt open. But apart from that, the file neither opens in corel x6 now!
It seems it cant be opened or something like that. But anyway it still sizes 2,94MB, so I am hopeful to recover it.

When I open a CGM file with X5, I see my graphique and my text correctly. But after a save/close/re-open, I have problem with some letter like X, H, I, L or T. Extremities of those letters are joining and letters look like "greek" letters (After check, it's not a greek format). How to fix it without re-write all text?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't open my cdr file. It was created in CorelDraw x5. I think it's because file is too much - 16 Mb.
It would be good if someone can open that file and save a part of objects in lower CorelDraw version.
I've tried many ways to open it, but I can't...
I can upload it to somewhere on the net and send link to download.
I have upgraded to X5 from X3 , and now when i Export EPS files, they are MASSIVE, I work in a company that does signs, and car vinyls and other graphics /vector related work, and It is important that i use EPS as file format for out " plotter" but a size of 800 mb and 2,2 GB now when it used to be 10 mb is insane.
I also use POSTSCRIPT 2, as 3, makes the file over 2 GBs.
I am working on a x5 and file size seems to be very less approx 553kb when saved but when made a conversion to 12 version it is increasing to 24mb... how may sought this out by keeping the file size low..
Also i wonder what made the file size to increase so much.i converted all fonts to curves too.. decreased the resolution and tried but nothing seemed to decrease the file size.
I have a number of files which were prepared in Corel Draw which I would like to post online. The designer has supplied the PDF versions of these files, however, the files sizes are too large for web usage. A 8 pg document is 5Mb. I have tried reducing the sizes by compressing in Acrobat; importing the PDFs into Corel Draw and re-creating PDF files with reduced resolution; recreating the PDF without the bitmap images (there are about 10 images)..yet the file size of the PDF does not change significantly.
What else can I do to reduce the file size of the generated PDF files? The files are newsletters, so most of the content is text and a few shapes and lines.
When I export a logo file to EPS it doesn't get the same size a the cdr-document. For example my document is 250 mm x 120 mm with a black background but when I open the EPS version of it in Photoshop the document is 330 mm x 120 mm with a 250 mm black background and the rest is transparent.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow to tell the file size of an image when in corel?
I have some big files that slow the computer down when working on them. Can I some how tell how big a picture is within corel draw.. ie It would be nice to be able to right click on a picture that I have imported into the workspace and it show me how many mega bytes it is.
Then I can go through my files and delete the larger pcs and make them smaller.
As it is now, I have to pretty much delete them all and start again to find dthe few pics that are like 3-5mb in size.
I prepared my drawing for size A0 (841 mm / 1189 mm) but when exporting it in Jpg or Tiff format for printing, it happens something very strange. In the dialogue window it doesn't allow a bigger size than A1 (594 mm / 841 mm). It shows me 74 % for width and height parameters. I try to change it to 100 % but it turns back to 74. Now I cannot print it because I need the bigger size.

i´d be very lucky if you tell me with which version of coreldraw you were able to open this file and/or how to avoid crashing of coreldraw x6 on my computer.
Running X4 under Win7 and it always goes back to the last file I was working on when I go to the Open dialogue. It insists on going to the Libraries Directory on my C: drive and 99% of my files are stored on my H: drive. Sometimes it's easy to get out of, other times I can't back up at all. Is there someway to gte the Open dialogue to simply go to My Computer instead?

View 6 Replies View RelatedQ When I import an EPS file into CorelDRAW, and print to a non-PostScript printer, the output appears pixelated and unclear. Why?
A An EPS file is a Postscript (PS) file and meant to be printed to a PostScript printer. When printed to a non-PostScript printer, it will only print the file header which is a low resolution preview of the actual file. If you wish to print the actual contents of the EPS file to a non-PostScript printer, import the file it into CorelDRAW using the PostScript Interpreted (PS, PRN, EPS) filter. So, apparently it can be done, but when I try to import this file into my Coreldraw, there is no option to import with that type of filter that I can see. Is this something that is missing in v12? If v12 wont do it, is there any other way to import this file without it coming in all pixellated? Or is there another way to convert the file into a format such as .plt?
I am not being able to open a .cdr file in Draw. Its about 1.16 gb, I know its big but I didnt realise it has become so big, it has 18 pages now. It was working fine till yesterday. but now when i am trying to open it a pop up comes showing error reading file. I am using x4 in a 32 bit windows 7 with 4 gb ram.I have tried opening in laptop with 64bit windows 7 4 gb ram, it opened till 80% adn then a different error came which said - invalid object. I need to retrieve the artwork, i have worked on it for more than 3 weeks. The back up file also shows the same.
