I have this consistent problem, can duplicate it.
1-create new document
2-create a simple vector shape (rectangle, circle, etc.)
3-Convert to bitmap (i used default settings)
4-Trace (I used LOGO, but I don't think it matters)
5-Undo until it's vector again.
Program closes.
I have recently buy one software ( embroidery) , with the corel draw x5 essential.
- but I can not find the trace function to convert bitmap to vector , like power trace.
I have Elements 10 and use a Windows 7 machine. When scrolling to select a file to open the program closes. This occurs when I scroll down to RAW files. It happens before I actually select a file. The program does not freeze but just closes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using Corel since V3. I recently started using X5 instead of V11 for my daily tasks. Overalll when it stays running all works great. But I have had multiple instances of the application just closing without warning on very simple tasks like editing text, moving text, trying to select a drop shadow and moving around toolbar. This instability scares me. One time it close unexpectely it corrupted the file too. I am used to the once in a while crash but this happened multiple times in a couple of days. When you reopen the same file and do the same tasks again no crash.
My machine 2.8ghz 4mb ram XP Pro SP3.
I have a problem publishing a particular file to pdf. The file is one page, with text, 9 small-size (but high-res) photos, and a couple of arrows (ie line with arrow end). Items not on the page are on the Desktop, which is set not to print. I have tried both Page as well as Selection (selecting all the objects on the page). Every time, the pfd doc appears in the requisite folder but is 0KB or 1KB and cannot be opened in a pdf program, and a window called CorelDraw(R) appears saying that CD has to close and that Windows will close it. I have never had this problem before. It is presently only with this particular file/page.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm loving CS6 Illustrator, except for one thing. Image Trace. Here, Adobe seem to have taken away the two most usefull settings from Live Trace, and replaced all the presets with ones that are pretty much unusable. I almost always used either 'Comic Art' or 'Lettering' to trace hand-drawn images, but they're both gone. None of the new settings are good enough, even if I make a custom one. The main issue is that the sliders in Image Trace are for completely different things to those in Live Trace, so it's difficult to translate one set of settings into the other.
With Image Trace, I cannot get the same results as with Live Trace, and so far, have found myself having to have Illustrator CS5 open at the same time as CS6, just so I can get workable traces.
I don't know if it's possible, but is there any way to import the presets from Live Trace, or even the full tool, into CS6, to replace the new Image Trace presets?how to make the equivelant of Comic Art in Image Trace's new settings?This is a close up of a file I was trying to trace, showing the major difference in quality between the two CS versions.

As you can see, the definition of Image Trace is far lower in quality than Live Trace, giving me one large connected blob of colour rather than the distictly separate lines produced in Live Trace.
I just started using CS6, jumping from CS3. A major tool I use is Live Trace, and I have custom settings for that. I cannot find a way to make Image Trace behave the way Live Trace did for black and white line drawings. The results I get in CS6 are far inferior to those I got in CS3 in terms of retaining the look of the original raster image. Otherwise, I will have to leave CS3 installed just to do my Live Trace.
Here is a sample of what I mean. You can see the quality degredation in CS6 compared to CS3. (And it's much more obvious when it's full size and full resolution.)

I've had X5 for a while and never had problems until today. I trace a bitmap and then can not get it back into Corel. All the buttons on the bottom right are missing.

I am using Corel Draw X4 to create stuff to cut on a laser engraving system and am having trouble with the bitmap trace function. For example: I create a line of text. First, I convert it to a bitmap. Then I trace the bitmap using the logo option. After doing this, when I move the text on the page, it appears several of the letters (the tall ones like capital letters and so forth) are missing during the moving process, but when I stop moving it, they appear again.
My problem is when I save the file and then open it in my laser program, these missing letters that are present when I move the text in corel draw translate into missing letters in the laser program, so it seems this is a Corel Draw problem but I don't know how to get rid of it.
I am running a Windows XP machine with Corel Draw X6 (32 Bit) and under the Trace Bitmap option, Quick Trace will work but anything under the Centerline Trace and Outline Trace options will upset Corel Draw and freeze. The program does not say "Not Responding" but no functions will work or the mouse will not change cursor and the only way to exit is to end the task.I have run updates on the program and upgraded to X6.1 but with no luck, still the same issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a question about using the outline trace function and resolution of images.
Say for instance, I am trying to create an existing logo for a customer in which I have to pull the image off the internet. I am unable to find an image that is high resolution, so I pick one with a lower resolution, because after all, I am going to trace the logo to cut out on my cutter with a heat transfer application. It is a simple design, a heart for instance. So when I use Corel Trace, no matter how small beforehand I make said heart, when it traces it comes out jagged, like the pixelation you see on a low res image. Is there any way to smooth this out? Or do I just need to look harder for a higher res image?
I traced bitmap -> Quick trace. Is there a way to edit that vector image now - with the shape tool?

I design t-shirts and one of our biggest customers sells signature shirts. Below is an example of the problem I'm having. The second image is the original and the first one is what happens after I convert to a bitmap and outline trace.
There are always at least 2-3 names with missing letters or filled in letters. I've adjusted the detail etc while tracing but doesn't seem to work. I'm on the verge of losing a very important customer. We've also had to redo several orders because the "glitch" wasn't caught before production.
Whenever I use the Trace option to convert, the result is an image filled with closed objects. Because I use vector images with a laser machine, and because the laser cuts everything it reads, the "double" lines (shared lines of the objects) get cut as many times as they appear. So I have to go in and break apart and delete segments & this goes on for days. I've tried welding, but welding makes one of the objects disappear completely. I've tried changing from cdr to svg, exporting & importing, hoping it would simplify, but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to have the bitmap converted to simple lines instead of overlapping objects?

I have this image that was edited. It was a photo that had black blocks put on it, censoring it (by probably MS Paint).
But anyway, when the file is in a folder, I can see the image (in the preview part of a folder in Windows) as a thumbnail without the blocks, like the blocks are gone. But when I open the image, the blocks are there.
The part of the image I need is obviously in the file, in a lower "layer" (per se).
How do I uncover it?

I've done a few filters on some drawn images, and I cannot remember what I have done to those images so that I can do it to others. the file was already saved so i cannot revert to a previously saved session, and the history only shows up to the last save.

I am working in AutoCAD 2013 on a .dwg drawing. There is a section of hatch that was exploded at some point and I want to set the individual hatch lines back to a hatch grouping, but since it was done long ago, using the undo command is not an option. It there a way I can take all of the individual hatch lines and group them back into a hatch?
My goal is to get the individual hatch marks back to a hatch group so that way I can use the hatch editor to modify the hatch style. Is this possible?
Picasa's Recrop feature restores the marquee from before you click Commit on a crop, which allows me to adjust or tweak the marquee. Is there an equivalent command in Photoshop Elements? It's a BIG time saver.
