I have some basic vector file (a few kb's) and I put in this file about 70MB's of photos.....then, when I save this, the result cdr file is 600MB. Why that size rises so much up?
View 5 RepliesIm writing a script that will use the contour tool and then break the resulting contour apart, change the outline of the contoured object and then regroup both objects.
heres what I have so far:

So in this script Shapes(2) is the contoured object that I want to change the outline of. Im guessing however it is only called shapes(2) because there was only 2 objects in the document when I wrote this script, (starting with one). In fact, if i start with a document with more than just one object, the outline change doesnt work.
I need to either leanr how to get a count of all objects in the document and assume the highest number will be the last created object and will thus be the one I need, or perhaps there is a way to instantiate the contuored shape when i call ActiveSelection.Seperate. something like
dim myContouredObject as shape
OriginalSelection + myContouredObject = ActiveSelection.Seperate
I'm sure the above wont work, just trying to be a bit more explicit about what im trying to do.
So, basically, how do i get the name of one or all of the objects resulting from a break apart?
I purchased CorelDraw X6 because it is a vector based program. I use vector drawings with my CAM software. I checked before purchasing that CorelDraw exported to AI and DXF. I have not been able to export the file to AI or DXF and have the file be in a vector form. When I try loading the AI or DXF file, the file is a bitmap.
What do I have to do to get Corel Draw to export the lines in a vector format that I can use?
I am using Corel draw x6 to build a new website for my company. I have tried everything I can find but after exporting to html The resulting web page does not fill the different size screens in the office.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently I have been making cloisonne pins and was referred to Vector Files. I take a bitmap and use the trace outline to either detailed or clip-art depending on which looks better.
My problem occurs after my artwork is finished and needing to create a general outline of the object to show what the border of the pin would be. I am also trying to provide a look with the slightest bit of depth to show how the impression of the lapel pin should look.
I want to import AI vector file into corel draw but it seemed not possible to me, i did try with .ai, .eps , .pdf files but its not working with corel draw. Is there any way to do that.

So when I attempt to open eps file, it simply hangs, and eventually says NOT RESPONDING. As I type this I've been attempting to open a file for over 30 minutes. I've tried rebooting to no avail.
Code that I can run to export the handles and x y coordinates of closed polylines and show results in a text file.

I know there are tracing programs available, but I want to make it as hard as can be so this logo will not get re-edited.
I designed it for a customer (belongs to us) they did not contract/pay us for it. We do all of their clothing. She is sponsoring an event and the event coordinator wants the logo to put it on their advertising. Just don't want it to end up on other clothes.
Can you download a Google Docs Drawing file as a file.svg type And then import it to CorelDraw and convert it to a bunch of CorelDraw vector based lines that can be modified like any other CorelDraw line drawing?
BTW, this is a drawing of a character and is simply b&w lines & shapes on a white background.Line widths vary in the original and we want to be able to modify them even more using all the tools in CorelDraw.
I was able to open the .svg file with CorelDraw but when attempting to 'Edit' a line in the drawing I couldn't change the line width... so it isn't behaving like a CorelDraw vector drawing.
The imported file is probably from Illustrator. The vector element in question is text converted to curves with a CMYK bit map fill. CorelDraw X5 seems unable to extract the bitmap fill from the vectors. What's up with this, is there anyway to extract the bitmap fill?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble doing this in my current software, Serif Drawplus, PSE, Photoplus, (I have Gimp but haven't used it ever yet). And I am considering buying X6 for use in other projects. So, can x6 do this in either Photo Paint with a bitmap, or in X6 with a group of Vectors?
I want to wrap a bottle with a logo. The mesh warps aren't working for me in the above applications, and envelope warping will not work either. Transform-Warp is not present in PSE. I mention that because I see a tutorial for PS using that. How would Corel X6 Suite do this? I am considering buying the software once some questions I have about it are cleared up. I wish Corel would make the manual and tutorial videos public. I'd rather download the trial for actually using it rather than trying to see if some feature is present, or a workaround for a feature a competitor has.
I am also hoping to make in this project, some 10-20 different bottles with the logo on, of different sized bottles and different rotations of the bottles. Plan D is acquainting myself with Blender, but lets hope I don't have to go that far!
Set the Trace Bitmap so that the outline color defaults to the same as the fill color on the resulting curves? Currently, resulting curves have to be edited one color at a time to give them hairline outlines with the same color as the fill. It's mighty tedious for complex vector art.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

What I bring to the software is my background in studio arts 2D and 3D. Photography is a tool to support both of these activities. Over the years that skill has developed and I have many great photos. The photos make me a little nuts now that I focus on digital. In digitals photos I easily have over 60,000 photos. I have some experience with Photoshop. I won’t say I am a proficient but will say I have good skills in it. I created my first logo in Photoshop. Of course it is not vector and I know it should be vector. I did it at no charge for a nonprofit. I would still like to create a vector form of the logo. Awhile back I purchased a book titled “Illustrator CS5 on demand”. It breaks it down in a way that Illustrator is less intimidating. It has renewed my interest in Illustrator. How do I more effectively merge all of these tools and skills? How do I bring what I know to Illustrator’s table? I know there are great possibilities here if I can learn to build vector graphics.
to convert a rather large & complicated logo in .PSD format to a Vector file, I have PS CS2 & IR CS2. Is there any way I can do it using what I already have without using the pen tool?

i am plotting to a PDF, and the PREVIEW looks great, but the resulting PDF is blank!
notes: if i create a new layout, and use the default Letter viewport, it will plot, but if i stretch the viewport to match the extents of the paper size (Arch D), the resulting plot is blank. I tried deleting and adding a new viewport but no luck. Also, i see in the command line while plotting - Viewport 1 and Viewport 2 being plotted but there should only be one.
I tried using envelope, add perspective, blend mode... and still i cant get the effect of the windows that twist with the film.
View 15 Replies View RelatedUntil recently when I saved a 1000px x 1000px file as a jpg at 10 in CS6 on a Mac with Snow Leopard, the resulting file would be about 600-700k. Now the same process results in at file twice that size, about 1.2-1.5 mb. I have tried everything I can think of to find the source and correction for this phenomenon. Save for the Web works normally.

For example I make red background, call it C1:
RGBA = 255, 0, 0, 255
Then I place a yellow pixel, call it C2:
RGBA: 220, 216, 0, 200
Then I use the Color Picker tool on this pixel, I get C3:
RGBA: 227, 169, 0, 255
I already know how to calculate R, G, and B of C3
R = ( (C2.A / 255) * C2.R ) + ( (1 - (C2.A / 255)) * C1.R ) = 227
G = ( (C2.A / 255) * C2.G ) + ( (1 - (C2.A / 255)) * C1.G ) = 169
B = ( (C2.A / 255) * C2.B ) + ( (1 - (C2.A / 255)) * C1.B ) = 0
But for the Alpha channel, it is different and I can't find how to calculate it!
how to outline a word so it can vector cut on a laser engraver. I am using corel draw x5 and I am trying to put "COWBOYS" on a piece of wood and I want the letters connected so it is one piece of wood. Whenever I spell cowboys I can't configure it as hairline (to vector cut).

I'm just starting to explore converting images to vector in CorelDRAW and am running into what, I hope, is a rookie problem.
There is white space between the lettering below the main logo image and I'm wondering how to make it transparent like the rest of the background.
I have created an 18 layered object on Corel Draw X4 using vectors and I would like to make it blur and streak from the back, to create the illusion that it's actually in high motion.
I have tried looking for the answer to my question on this site and elsewhere and only find the answer if it were a bitmap, yet I don't necessarily want to transfer it into bitmap as I would like to keep the smooth edges.
In previous versions of CorelDraw, a vector graphic could be saved as a WordPerfect Graphic with a .wpg extension.
When you pulled this graphic into MS Word, it printed as a vector graphic and was perfect. This was great for such things as signatures, and looked realistic.
BUT with subsequent versions of MSWord, the .wpg graphic is no longer recognized, so one is left having to export a .cdr vector graphic as an .emf file which is NOT vector graphics and looks pixellated.
Interestingly, I can copy a .wpg image from a file made with Office 2007, into Office 2010 and it takes it!
Any alternative format that one can use to get Word to recognize as a vector graphic?
What I'm wanting to do is be able to draw a vector object and use it as a pattern fill.
I need to be able to node edit the created pattern. I'd also like (the option) to be able to scale the destination object, and the pattern scales with it.
I figure it be much easier to use/create a fill pattern then duplicate all day long. Now (as example) there is the built-in "Star Shapes" pattern which is a black filled star.
I need to be able to change that to a a red hairline stroke, no fill pattern as example.
How to convert clipart files into dxf vector files if this is possible?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI am not using X6 to fully create all of my artwork just yet. I'm still using X4 for my big jobs, but am fooling around with new features in X6 as I need them and am trying to copy them to the clipboard while in X6 and then paste them into X4.
Whenever I do this, the artwork that I paste into X4 is always pasted as an Object and not a regular vector file like what usually happens while cutting and pasting between previous versions.
Is this a bug or is there a setting that I'm missing in X6 to change it so that it will paste into X4 as a regular vector file?
To avoid this problem for now, I've been having to save the X6 artwork as CDR Version 14 and then import it into X4. It's a waste of time compared to hitting Cntrl+C and Cntrl+V...I know it doesn't seem like much more time, but it adds up over the day.
I can not paste photos from my photos file. If I start a blank file I can paste anything photos want from the web in as many layers as I want. If I try to paste a photo from my own photos file it becomes the back ground by itself. I don't know how to stop this. Using photoshop elements 11.
