CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Files Growing And Self-duping Layers
Dec 2, 2013
Has any with CorelDraw X5 creating files that should be around 5 MB growing up to like 550 MB for no reason? Also have you reopened a file you had recently created and there be like 40 extra Layer 1's that are empty? I have had both of these happen. I have had work done to my machine and also reinstalled CorelDraw and those files apparently have a rogue bitmap or something in them b/c nothing is fixing it. Could be a corrupt file that a customer has sent me for their ad, but what element within a file is the culprit or if it's possible for a file to even work right if it's got a corrupt element in it?
I am losing money daily having to wait for 500 MB files to open and sometimes having to start over on ads b/c it locks my Corel up and I lose changes. Sometimes locks while saving updates and crashes.
We are using corel x6 how can you flatten layers we are having print issues. We have a new plotter and does not recognize layers in corel and prints all black. We use many scans in our work. If we combine layers would it pile all scans on top of one another .
so, for some reason when i choose the body of this cow i drew to fill, it fills its hind leg, and stubbornly refuses to fill the body at all. i have tried all the fill tools to get this too work. i figure if i flatten the image the fill tool will work a bit better.
there is no such thing as flattening the image or merging layers in the help section and the info online hasn't been so great. How do you merge layers?
why (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?
As a long time Adobe user, and now new user of Coreldraw X3, I am trying to figure out why, when I create a new layer on page one, that layer instantly duplicates on page two? Is there a preference that allows me to turn this off?
I was hoping this feature would be added in X6, and in retrospect I should have asked about this before they released X6 :S
When exporting to PDF in Corel it would be great if there could be an option to get rid of the layers. The problems with layers in PDF it uses a lot more resources and when I combine 20+ PDFs together it barely opens on slower computers. Also, my clients can see what my layer names are in the PDF and I would prefer if they couldn't.
I am attempting to create a graphic using corel draw that has several different layers that can be viewed separately or simultaneously. Additionally the images in each layer are hyper linked to corresponding web pages. I am running into an issue because when I print to PDF I have several layers still active however hidden.
These hidden layers contain hyperlinks which are still showing up on the PDF even when those layers are not.
I just installed X5 (and whatever patches/updates I could find) but I'm still having a problem with my layers info disappearing. I have to close the program, reopen and sometimes repeat before the layers reappear.
I'm working on a book that has watermark on all pages and jpegs too of a4 size. Working in earlier version [x5], I used to overlap all the watermarks which was located in master layer. When I used to import a fresh jpeg on new pages, the watermark went below the jpegs. What i used to do was create a new master layer and then cut pasted the watermark in that layer, and the watermark came above the jpegs in the pages that were added later. In CorelDRAW x6 this i'm not able to do.
The watermark remains bottom of the jpeg, no matter what i do. if i edit the same file in version X5, it works fine and then i get it into x6 and do rest of stuff it works fine. The watermark problem still exists.
I have the object manager pane visible at the right of my screen. It shows the layers and status of those layers in my drawing. It has the + icon that allows each layer to be expanded to show every line in that layer. The trouble I am having is that each an every time I do something in the drawing to a line it prompts the Object Manager list to expand to the full list of lines. Clicking the - icon closes this down to just the layer name.
Thing is, how do I stop it expanding the the list to the line level of detail in the first place. I rarely need that level of detail and waste lots of time closing the view down.
Is there any way I can choose some Master layers to be present on selective pages only? For example in a 50 page document I have a master layer having a square and a rectangle. Now this should be available on pages say 1-10, 11-23. The rest of the pages should not have them.
Client supplies me with word document, I make a PDF from it and then from Acrobat create an ESP file, this is done as an eps file is much less likely to cause probs then importing a PDF, I then print from the Coreldraw file with the EPS pages no problem. The problem then arises when I have to then create a PDF file from COreldraw for the client - any EPS files in the document do not appear in the PDF - so there lies the problem.I cannot alway directly import a PDF file (often screws up) even if I save fonts as outlines. Saving as EPS overcomes most/all issues.
Resetting the User Setting with the the F8 key didn't solve the problem. Once the user gets caught up on a couple projects I'll try to update the version to SP3 and the hotfix.
I have finished my works using only one layer( a bad habit I know) and now I need to export them as PSD, and as You know it needs Layers so it can be editable on Photoshop.
I know the fact that I should import all the objects in single Layers, ie creating thousands of Layers for all the work, new layer for each object I import.
But is there any option for easy extraction of objects into single layers, one click option or much easier than going individually through each of them?
If not available, this type of option would work for CorelDRAW or any vector program, be really more effective and stay in touch with the requirements of the industry, especially when it comes, on creating vectors for web or apps.
Using CD x4.I cut directly from Corel. I was trying to do a simple 2 color vinyl job. I put reg marks but they are only on one layer. I tried copying but they weren't in the same place as the other layer.
Is there a way to get the Reg Marks to appear on all layers properly ?
Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to hide a layer? I'm building a drawing by tracing a bitmap on a separate layer. I turn the layer visibility off & on a lot to check my work.
I have so many objects, the little eyeball in the object manager keeps scrolling out of its window .
My object manager all of a sudden decided to not show the objects on the layers. If I click the "eye" on the layer it will show or hide, but the names of the objects on the layers are not listed under the layer name.
If I right click on the layer, it has the check beside visible, printable, and editable. I have Corel Draw Graphics Suite X4.
my CorelDraw files are always at least 1345 kb when I have at least one vector graphic in the file. The pdf I export from it is also that big. I made a file with just one square and it's already 1345 kb.
I just started a new cdr file and created a square, nothing else.
The best way to export Corel Draw files to a format that other non-Corel users can easily manipulate? I have had trouble saving as or exporting to other vector formats in the past. I use very large files with imported jpg graphics, etc.
Also, do any of the effects/actions (drop shadows, power clipping, grouping) that we use in Corel affect the ability of other users to at least open and manipulate the file? Even if it's not exactly the same in the converted file, what is the most convenient way to allow another artist to view & manipulate Ai or EPS exported from Corel Draw? (Specifically X6 if that applies)
Since upgrading to X6 Windows will not recognise CorelDRAW as being compatible with EPS files, what I mean is when going to "Open With" CorelDRAW is not listed, and even when I browse for it, select the program file it still won't recognise it.
I've raised a support case which advised me to associate EPS in teh Tools->options->global which I have done but it makes no difference.
I'm using CorelDraw X5 with Windows 7. When I go to save a file often it won't save unless I repeat the save file command several times. Once I do get it saved the file then shows to be locked.
The file extension .sbj was used by Micrografix products, and Micrografix has since become a part of the Corel Corporation. I have thousands of these files. How can I use them in CorelDraw X5?
file type: channeled .eps file created in photoshop (my 'goto' for screenprinting seps)
system: windows 7, coreldraw x6
problem: once imported into CorelDraw, in the print dialog the pre flight will analyze the document and it takes forever; if it does not crash, once completed every other function takes forever to edit (Ex: to deselect a spot color will take 15-20 seconds to implement)- then when printing, errors occur.
1) previous versions of Coreldraw does not have this problem 2) this happens with all printers, even pdf print driver. 3) workaround that works: save the channeled eps file as a Photoshop file.
