CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Mirror / Reflect About A Line But Line Is Inside Object
Jan 4, 2013how to mirror about a line, but the line was outside the object.
I now have a need to mirror about a line but the line is partially inside the object (so after mirroring the object would be overlapped). When I select both objects and try to create the mirror, the "axis" of the reflection is simply the edge of the object, not the line.
When the line was outside, that worked simply because when you selected both objects the line brought the outside of both selected objects to that point so it simply mirrored / reflected at that point (the line). So the line was not truly acting as a point of reflection. Hope that made sense.
I think I'm about to buy Cadtools from Macromonster but I would like to know if Draw has a way of acheiving this. Hey I may find out Cadtools can't reflect when the line is inside the object.

I'm trying to create a point on top of a line without adding a point to an existing line but for the life of me I can't figure out how. I know I can create a new line and drag the points to where I want them on the line but I just simply want to create a point on top of the line.

Is it possible to export/save CorelDraw file to such PDF with layers? For example, if I got 3 layers in my CDR then I'd like to have them in my PDF.
I tried option PUBLISH TO PDF but I didn't find (or I wasn't careful enough) any option to do this.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: How To Merge Layers
Mar 14, 2011so, for some reason when i choose the body of this cow i drew to fill, it fills its hind leg, and stubbornly refuses to fill the body at all. i have tried all the fill tools to get this too work. i figure if i flatten the image the fill tool will work a bit better.
there is no such thing as flattening the image or merging layers in the help section and the info online hasn't been so great. How do you merge layers?

Jul 25, 2011this might be a little specialized but i use corel generally to layout architectural drawings. I export them from autocad usually as a .pdf with a variety of different line weights, I notice its not the .pdf but corel tends distort or alter these line weights which typically undoes hours of hard work, is there a way to make these line weights transfer more smoothly to corel?

When exporting to PDF in Corel it would be great if there could be an option to get rid of the layers. The problems with layers in PDF it uses a lot more resources and when I combine 20+ PDFs together it barely opens on slower computers. Also, my clients can see what my layer names are in the PDF and I would prefer if they couldn't.

Additionally the images in each layer are hyper linked to corresponding web pages. I am running into an issue because when I print to PDF I have several layers still active however hidden.
These hidden layers contain hyperlinks which are still showing up on the PDF even when those layers are not.

Apr 21, 2012I'm working on a book that has watermark on all pages and jpegs too of a4 size. Working in earlier version [x5], I used to overlap all the watermarks which was located in master layer. When I used to import a fresh jpeg on new pages, the watermark went below the jpegs. What i used to do was create a new master layer and then cut pasted the watermark in that layer, and the watermark came above the jpegs in the pages that were added later. In CorelDRAW x6 this i'm not able to do.
The watermark remains bottom of the jpeg, no matter what i do. if i edit the same file in version X5, it works fine and then i get it into x6 and do rest of stuff it works fine. The watermark problem still exists.

Mar 11, 2011in earlier versions of draw you could move one end of line with the pick tool by moving the cursor over the end node grabbing it and moving it where ever you wanted. Feb 26, 2012I used polyline to trace a tree trunk. I wanted it to be just a series of line segments which I was going to export to AutoCAD and then to Sketchup. However, each segment I drew said it was a curve. When I exported to AutoCAD it came in as a spline. If I convert that to lines, where I had maybe 10 lines there are now 100.
I also tried to 2 point line tool. I started each new line from the end of the previous. It gave me the same result.
Is there a way for me to end up with just the 10 line segments? No spline. No curve. Just 10 straight lines.

Jun 17, 2011I am using CGS12 along with my Epilog laser. The Epilog treats all line-widths up to 0.003" as vector (for cutting) and anything above this as raster (subject to DPI settings).
I have been using 'Hairline' as my vector but recently hit a problem and would like to guarantee that a line defined by a label such as 'Hairline' will always be below 0.003" in width (and therefore a cut-line on the Epilog).

Jul 14, 2012In CDraw X5 I can choose line styles. But I would like to add some more styles (and to remove some that I never use).I only found a possibility to create new styles based on a kind of a pixel approach: A one-by-many array of single squares can be marked to be coloured of white, producing dashed lines with any kind of dash length.Also, the dash "frequency" seems to be dictated by the line width only; I do not manage to make thin dashed lines with a reasonably visible dash frequency.
However, I would like to make line consisting of other shapes, like circles, triangles, diamonds, etc., either filled or "open". Or make thin dashed lines with user-specifiec dash and space lengths that do not change when changing the line width. Is this possible?
Also, multi-colour dashes – with e.g. odd-numbered dashes in one colour and even-numbered ones in another color – might be useful.
In the current version, however, the number of dash schemes available is big enough to be confusing. Especially when the line is made relatively wide – say, 0,5 .. 1 mm or so – and I want to make more lines with the same shape, than it is difficult to find again the same shape the list of standard shapes. Is it possible to add names (or numbers, but not just running numbers!) to the shapes, so that a shape can be found again easily?
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Line Vs Curve With Arrow On End?
Feb 12, 2011I know this has been in Draw for a long while, but I wish they'd make the arrow tip start at the end of a curve.
steps to reproduce:
F7, draw a curve
draw a line
change both to have an arrow on one end
change both to 16px thickness so you can see the arrow position well
This problem comes up when I'm doing a detailed diagram and I've got my arrows going around all over the place. I need to tweek one so I convert to curve... but in doing so, the end of the arrow sticks out farther than it used to... and that forces me to change the postions and angles of possibly a few nodes.
I'd like the arrow to end at the node so there's no change in it's position when you do a convert to curves.
This is one of those... "that's not a bug, it's been around forever" type of things I know, but it should be changed IMHO.
I should mention that this is also a pain when you go in with the node edit tool when the line isn't selected and you can't see the nodes... you click around at the end, and eventually find it hiding in the center of the arrow/triangle part.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Files Growing And Self-duping Layers
Dec 2, 2013Has any with CorelDraw X5 creating files that should be around 5 MB growing up to like 550 MB for no reason? Also have you reopened a file you had recently created and there be like 40 extra Layer 1's that are empty? I have had both of these happen. I have had work done to my machine and also reinstalled CorelDraw and those files apparently have a rogue bitmap or something in them b/c nothing is fixing it. Could be a corrupt file that a customer has sent me for their ad, but what element within a file is the culprit or if it's possible for a file to even work right if it's got a corrupt element in it?
I am losing money daily having to wait for 500 MB files to open and sometimes having to start over on ads b/c it locks my Corel up and I lose changes. Sometimes locks while saving updates and crashes.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Expanded Layers In Object Manager
Sep 13, 2012I have the object manager pane visible at the right of my screen. It shows the layers and status of those layers in my drawing. It has the + icon that allows each layer to be expanded to show every line in that layer. The trouble I am having is that each an every time I do something in the drawing to a line it prompts the Object Manager list to expand to the full list of lines. Clicking the - icon closes this down to just the layer name.
Thing is, how do I stop it expanding the the list to the line level of detail in the first place. I rarely need that level of detail and waste lots of time closing the view down.
