Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5 :: Changing Color Of Masked Areas
Aug 14, 2013
I selected interesting areas of raster using color mask so I have about 300 areas masked. I'd like to change their color (from 100% black to 30% black). How can I fill them all together with new color (not painting them one by one)?

I would like to be able to change my screen color. It opens in white. For a lot of my work it would be easier for me to see what I am doing with a darker screen color. Can I change the screen color from white to a darker color.

I am designing a logo of the sun rising over the earth from the perspective of earth orbit. The general look will be of the sun(looks like a star) illuminating a narrow crescent of the earth. I am working on a picture, trying to adapt it for the logo. I need to change the white sunlight to be yellow/red - can't seem to isolate the colors from the mix of earth colors or black background colors they mix with. Another thing I need is to use a white background instead of the black background of the picture taken from space. Is there a way to convert all the colors that are a mix of the black background and something else to be changed to be as if the background was white?

I've just started using X4 for the first time and what I'm trying to do is add text to the last frame of a gif. I got the text in and see where the colour changing tools are but for some reason even if I made everything red, the text colour still comes out completely different. It seems to be matching it to the colour scheme of the GIF itself. I just want to text to be red.
How do I get the text colour to just stay red?

Is there an easy way to do color tints on a photo in PhotoPAINT? And by that I don't mean just correcting the tint, I mean converting a regular photo into one that has a single color tint (e.g., yellow, red, etc.). I've tried graying it out and then adding a transparent color layer over it, but I'm not getting the result I'm looking for.
Also, while I'm at it, are there any (current) books out that cover PhotoPAINT in depth? I know that the official DRAW book has a section on it, but it's pretty basic.

I have an image with a "rainbow" (a gradient of 7 colors).
How can I select each and every pixel of that image that contains at least a shade of red? That is, every color whose Red component (from its RGB code) is between 1 and 255.

For Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5
I have a grayscale image (pencil sketch with pencil shading) of a glass object in a CorelDraw document. I'm tired of having to go to Photoshop Elements to edit images in CorelDraw docs, so I opened it in Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5 from within CorelDraw to edit. I want to change the image's 'white' (actually slightly gray) background to a color appearing in the CorelDraw document.
I tried using the Magic Wand to select all of the 'white' background, but the popup says the WAND only selects ADJACENT pixels! Isn't there a way to select ALL pixels of a given color like in Photoshop E. (conitguous/non-contiguous)? If there is a simple way (without the Wand) to change the background color of an image (not of a PP doc!!), I would nevertheless also like to know how to select non-contiguous pixels of a particular color with the wand. Also how to invert a selection. Also, how to select a color in CorelDraw to use as a fill color in PhotoPaint (both X5).

I recently calibrated my monitor with a Spyder 4 Express. I process my RAW images in ACDSee Pro, saving them as tiffs - ProPhoto RGB. Yet when I open the same images in PP, skin tones are quite saturated and I'm wondering why? Prior to calibrating my monitor, everything was normal across all my programs, as it is now in ACDSee Pro. But not with PP and OnOne. Something has changed between the programs and I can't see what. I've attached my current Color Management settings from PP.

When modifying bitmap all of a sudden my colors in my standard pallet change to just a few colors. When I try to open another pallet (standard RGB or something else) it won't give me back the colors. I have to save my work and start PP again. Then I can go on.

how to make a PNG in PP so that there is not a residual trace of the background color. Notice on the picture below. There should be the white circle around the red circle, but then there is also the trace of yellow, which is the background color (and what I chose under PNG Export as the Transparency > Image Color. This has always happened for me using PP and PNGs, and I assume there must be some setting to avoid that so there's a smooth PNG export, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I've got two different color balance problems. The first is where I have two photos that I want to match the lighting in each.
The second is where I have a 'control' and I want another photo or print to 'match' it.
Currently I'm having the second problem. A customer brought in an original painting for us to scan and make holiday cards from. But they also brought in a photo print from a local chain and they have asked me to match the color representation from that print.
It is duller, the blues are purple and it is over all darker. Personally, I think the photo is a horrible representation of the painting. BUT IT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS.
I've scanned in both the photo and the original drawing. If I print the photo it matches the color of the scan. (but is the wrong crop size and can't be used for the card.) How do I draw color out of that and get my original to 'match' other than just using my eyes? (which is about impossible for me today) I normally use 'sample/target balance' in corel PhotoPaint, but you can't do that between two layers OR between two files. This would be a great change to make in x7 or an update.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6

I am upgrading some macro code (actually VB.Net code in standalone .Net 3.5 Windows Forms application) from Corel Photo Paint XI to Corel PhotoPaint X5.
My previous CorelScript.BitmapEffect("Replace Colors", "ReplaceColorsEffect.V11 RepClrInColor=5:255:255:255,RepClrOutColor=5:0:0:0,RepClrIgnoreGrayscl=1,RepClrSingleClr=1,RepClrRange=0")
used to replace the white color in a bitmap to black.
This doesn't seem to work in X5. Is there some documentation available on the use of Bitmap Effect?

In Corel PhotoPaint X5, changing the fill color was possible by e.g. double clicking the (left-most) color square, then hitting Edit. Already, I found this was a bit too many clicks. Now in Corel PhotoPaint X6 it's gotten worse -- after hitting Edit, I'm not in the left-most tab "Models", but in the right tab "Palettes"!
My question: Is there any way I can open the Uniform Fill dialog with one click? (The Color Docker doesn't have a big color preview field so it doesn't work well for me when selecting and changing a color.) And is there any chance Corel will fix the bug with the wrong tab being opened?

I am trying to change the background of a photo. Not just change the color but change the color AND make it keep it's original shading, etc. I have some family photos we had made recently and they used a beige color draping for the background. The ones we had made before had a black draping. I was wondering how I could go about using some sort of additive coloring to transform the varying shades of beige to the same varying shades of black.
I have already used the masking tool to separate the background from the rest of the photo.
